What Other Foamposites Should Nike Bring Back After The Dr. Doom

2017 will be the year of the Foamposite as Eric Avar’s iconic design will be celebrating its 20th anniversary. The stories behind the head-turning silhouette are as legendary as the model itself. From Scottie Pippen turning down the design for one of his signatures to Penny Hardaway having to hand-color in some tiger stripes with a Sharpie to follow NBA rules a the time, the Nike Air Foamposite One and Nike Air Foamposite Pro each come with plenty of tall tales from its early years. The Nike Air Foamposite Pro “Dr. Doom” will kick things off early with a release on November 25th, but what other Foamposite retro colorways do you want to see brought back for the two-decade celebration?

The Foamposite Dr Doom was a part of Nike Sportswear’s “Fantastic Four” Pack, but was an outlier due to its simple Black/White matte colorway in an effort to display the villainous nature of the comic book character. Now slated for a Black Friday release, it’s safe to say that the Foamposite Dr Doom will finally get the shine it deserves after having sat on retail shelves for quite some time when it first released in the early aughts. The cult-classic keeps things simple and traditional with a high-contrast white Swoosh on the side panel to match the outsole and lining. Check out more photos after the break and be sure to let us know which other legendary Foamposte colorways you want to see brought back throughout next year by taking your thoughts to the comments section below.

The Nike Zoom Talaria Mid Flyknit Releases In December

It’s that time of year when the likes of Nike Sportswear, adidas Originals, and even ASICS Tiger dust off some of their retro running offerings and have their designers re-imagine those silhouettes as winterized boots to help keep you comfortable and not too far outside of your comfort zone for a sneaker-centric approach to conquering the winter elements. For NSW, they’ll be breaking out the freshly minted Nike Zoom Talaria Mid Flyknit in 3 colorways come this December 2016.

The Nike Talaria Mid Flyknit takes its inspiration from the 1997 cult-classic running model, the Nike Zoom Talaria, designed by Tinker Hatfield. The Talaria featured a unique outsole unit that’s been re-appropriated to help improve traction through the ice and snow. A bolstered Flyknit upper adds a modern approach for a lightweight boot-inspired upper while suede side panels add weather resistant protection. A sock-like fit adds lockdown support as metal eyelets contrast for a luxurious finish.

Check out all three colorways below and know that this re-imagined ACG inspired offering will arrive at retailers this December 2016. For more of the latest release dates, stick with us right here on Sneaker News.

With a night maroon colorway expected to debut next month, the Nike Sock Dart will be offered in another subdued variation as part of its Fall 2016 lineup.

Defined by its minimalist aesthetic and lightweight design, the sneaker’s sock-like upper is rendered in varying grey tones, while the adjustable midfoot strap for a comfortable, locked-down feel is rendered in a darker hue to complement its understated profile.

All adhered atop a white midsole unit with black speckling to further pronounce its design, you can expect to find this pair at select Nike retailers globally sometime later this month.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Like our EIC has shared, I still don?t get how this colorway correlates with the character. It?s a nice simple variation overall so I don?t dislike it.

How To Buy The Nike Mag

The power-lacing Nike Mag is here. Unfortunately, no amount of money can guarantee you a pair. Unlike the 2011 release of the shoes, which saw 1,500 pairs hit eBay, Nike is “releasing” the power-lacing Mags via a lottery, which means the only way you can secure a pair is if you win one. The only way to enter is to purchase a $10 lottery ticket, and there is no limit to how many tickets you can purchase. All proceeds from this lottery go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which goes toward research for finding a cure for Parkinson’s Disease. In addition, there are only 89 pairs in existence (Back To The Future II released in 1989), making the power-lacing Mag much more limited that the 2011 version and far more coveted.

To purchase a ticket, download the Nike Plus App (not the SNKRS App). You have until October 11th to purchase tickets, and Nike will notify winners on October 17th. Nike will also hold live auctions of the Mag at three locations – Hong Kong on October 11, 2016; London on October 14 and 17; and in New York on November 12 at The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s benefit gala, “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson’s.”

Download the Nike+ App, purchase a ticket, and…good luck. Due to the adaptive fit technology used in the shoe, the only available sizes are 7, 9, 11, and 13.

Each ticket costs $10, which will also go towards The Michael J. Fox Foundation and there?s no limit to the number of tickets you can buy.

With more tickets, the greater chance of winning. Winners will be notified on October 17, 2016.

The Nike Air Max Zero Set To Release In Dark Grey

Prior to the visions of the Air Max 1, Tinker Hatfield had imagined an alternative design that would propose the idea of a visible air unit on sneakers. Despite the project being originally scrapped, the idea would resurface and in 2015, Nike announced the release of the Air Max Zero. This year, Nike introduced a handful of new colorways and even gave fans the ability to design their own color scheme through the NikeID feature. Although there is yet to be an official release date, the Air Max Zero are now set to drop a brand new dark grey colorway. Stayed tuned to our site for further release details.

This Nike Flyknit Racer Pure Platinum Is Flying Under The Radar (Video)

The Nike Flyknit Racer is one of the most popular yet slept-on Nike silhouettes in the company today. After a very strong debut and a handful of colorways that we all look at with adoration to this day, it seems like new Racers that drop just come and go unless they are Oreo or Multicolor iterations that raise the consciousness of the sneakerhead community. A new colorway dubbed the Nike Flyknit Racer Pure Platinum is dropping soon and we can’t wait to see what the reaction for this release is going to be.
