Michael J. Fox And The Nike Mag Appear On Good Morning America

The Nike Mag was finally made available to the public yesterday through a digital drawing with those interested entering a lottery by purchasing a $10 ticket. Only 89 pairs released making the “release” more akin to the Powerball Lottery given the likelihood of actually attaining the unattainable. It was all for a good cause, though, with the Back To The Future sneaker raising millions for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson?s Research.

Michael J. Fox joined Good Morning America to talk about the legendary sneaker and Parkinsons research while showing the world just how mezmorizing auto-lacing technology can be. Be sure to watch Michael J. Fox’s appearance on the morning staple with a special guest spot featuring the auto-lacing Nike Air Mag and check out our own video of the new Mag below.

The Nike Kobe Venomenon 5 Embraces Classic Lakers Colors

Is Kobe Bryant the greatest Laker of all time? The Los Angeles faithful will have to debate that topic for years to come, but it’s worth noting that the Black Mamba did spend every single one of his 20 NBA seasons in the purple and gold. Nike Basketball has been releasing a plethora of awesome Kobe 11 colorways throughout the summer, but it’s great to see the Nike Kobe Venomenon 5 embrace the classic purple and gold color scheme with this latest release.

The Nike Zoom Kobe Venomenon 5 turned heads thanks to its wavy midsole unit, icy heel construction with unique diamond-shaped cuts, and premium use of Dynamic Flywire for a silhouette that could be considered a stellar signature model if it weren’t for the fact that the Kobe 11 already existed. The entire package comes equipped for just $120 USD and now with a Court Purple mesh base and yellow branding accents, you can pay tribute to Kobe’s Laker tenure one last time. Check out more detailed photos below and be on the lookout for this pair to arrive at retailers later this month.

Testing Out The Self-Lacing Nike Mag

Nike just hosted an invite-only event at the Nike+ Clubhouse located at 45 Grand in SoHo, allowing invitees to test out the self-lacing Nike Mag for the first time ever. We were guided to the testing area in groups of four, and we were lucky to be the first group called on to give this 27-year-old fantasy a real spin.

The self-lacing Nike Mag features three buttons on the lateral side ankle collar – the yellow to turn on the LED lights, green to tighten, and red to loosen. The shoes itself are surprisingly lightweight and comfortable, while the self-lacing mechanism is extremely easy to use. Again, just 89 pairs will be given out to the public via the lottery drawing; to enter, you can purchase $10 tickets on the Nike+ App or on nike.com/mag.

Nike is opening up this opportunity for NYC locals to try the Nike Mag on. If interested, all you need to do is register for a spot here and visit the Nike+ Clubhouse at your designated time. Check out our video of the self-lacing Nike Mag in action below.

This Custom What The Nike Dunk Takes Inspiration From The City Of New York

IMG_6177 IMG_6239 IMG_6288 IMG_6393 IMG_6394 IMG_6857 IMG_6606

The “What The” theme that first landed on the Nike SB Dunk a few years back has been done on so many sneakers these days that the special feeling just isn’t there anymore. Our EIC even made a case earlier this year talking about why he thinks the theme should be retired.

Evan Lorberbaum has attempted to breathe some new life into the “What The” theme by creating a new colorway of the Nike Dunk High. Known as the Nike Dunk “What The NYC”, this custom sneaker is a bespoke, one of one, NYC-inspired Nike shoe that also incorporates his original hand painted canvas.

It inspired by three of the most iconic and influential Nike SB Dunks of all-time: the Staple Pigeon Dunk, What the Dunk, and Paris Canvas Dunks. In addition to Lorberbaum’s original hand painted canvas, the shoe alludes to various iconic NYC imagery including a Metro Card, Subway Map, Pizza Box, Lotto Tickets, Crime Scene Tape, New York Times newspaper, concert tickets from MSG, the Palladium, and CBGB, and a cross walk intersection.

This “What the NYC” Dunk is a three way collaborative project between Evan Lorberbaum, Relevant Customs and Good Wood NYC. You can find out more about this collaboration by following @whatthenyc on Instagram and Snapchat.
What are your thoughts on this NYC-inspired custom sneaker? Let us know in the comments below.

Author’s Take

I’ve never been to New York, but I can tell that this custom embodies the New York spirit all over. Pretty amazing work by all parties involved.

This new options gives you the ability to alternate the color of the lace loops on the medial and lateral sides. Author’s Take

It’s cool, I just wish you had even more options when it came to mismatching the shoe, such as switching up the paneling, tongues, etc.

Nike Roshe Mid Winter Stamina 1 Nike Roshe Mid Winter Stamina 2 Nike Roshe Mid Winter Stamina 3 roshe mid

We just went over the Nike Roshe Mid Winter Stamina Hiking these past couple of days. We now got word that even more GS colorways of the model are available for purchase now. Let’s get a closer look at all the new options we have.

This GS-exclusive model is supposed to be a mid top winter/hiking version of the classic Roshe Run model. Nike gives the shoe new updates to help convert the shoe into somewhat of a sneakerboot. Features on the shoe include the simplicity of the upper, the revamped outsole with hexagonal lugs for maximum traction, the mesh extended upper and the added midfoot strap  that acts as the sole lacing system on the slip on. Out now, pick up a pair of your own in any of the colors you see above for $85.

Author’s Take

Not really my cup of tea. If I want a boot, I?ll go get a boot, not this.

Our First Look At The Nike Air Footscape Woven Chukka SE Black Denim Drops

Nike Air Footscape Woven Chukka SE 1 Nike Air Footscape Woven Chukka SE 2 Nike Air Footscape Woven Chukka SE 3 Nike Air Footscape Woven Chukka SE 4

Another version of the Nike Air Footscape Woven Chukka SE is on the way, and this one happens to rock a sleek looking Black denim upper. Dropping at the end of the month, let’s take a look at the official images of the Nike Air Footscape Woven Chukka SE Black Denim.

The unorthodox aesthetics of the Nike Air Footscape Woven Chukka SE has the shoe come ready for the Fall season as it comes with an upper constructed out of a combination consisting of a woven nylon paired up with Black denim placed on the paneling. The dark motif of the upper then rests on top of an off-White Footscape midsole to help give it that unique look we all know and love. Said to be dropping in the states on October 28th, are you adding these to your Fall rotation?

Author’s Take

I like the original/unique look of the shoe. I always thought it was a bit pricey, but I’d be down to get a pair if the right colorway comes along. This is not the one. Dope, but not good enough for me to want a pair.

Our First Look At The Nike Air Zoom Talaria Mid Flyknit

Nike Talaria Mid Flyknit 1 Nike Talaria Mid Flyknit 2 Nike Talaria Mid Flyknit 3

This one came out of nowhere. The latest Nike model to utilize a Flyknit construction is none other than the Nike Air Zoom Talaria. Adding some heightened aesthetics during the process, take a look at the upcoming Nike Air Zoom Talaria Mid Flyknit.

Said to be a part of the Fall/Winter collection, the Nike Air Zoom Talaria Mid Flyknit comes in three different tonal colorways, it ditches the customary mesh paneling and instead uses the beloved Nike Flyknit construction. Additional features on the shoe include the sock-like collar bootie, a similar design the OG Talaria used on the overlays, a seamless construction, D-ring eyelets and a outsole with some added traction. Said to be dropping in December, let us know what you think about the shoe.

Author’s Take

I wonder what it would look like as a low-top. Regardless, it’s still a pretty cool looking shoe if you’re aiming for that kind of style. Not for me, but it’s dope.

Mark Parker Officially Introduces The Nike Mag 2016

For the past two days, everyone, including people who aren’t into shoes have been talking about the Nike Mag 2016. Earlier today, it was confirmed that the highly anticipated self-lacing sneaker would be releasing in limited quantities and they would only be made available via a raffle between October 4 and October 11. Being that only 89 pairs are made, the odds of us getting a pair are slim to none. Since 99.99% of us won’t ever get to own or even see a pair in real life, the next best thing is to see Mark Parker talk about the shoe.

The video above shows Mark Parker the charity behind the Nike Mag 2016 while also talking about how the upcoming Hyperadapt 1.0 is similar to the Nike Mag since they both offer Nike’s innovating self-lacing system. Check out the shoes in action by clicking play in the video above.

The Nike Air Foamposite One Royal Releases In January 2017

2017 will be the year of the Foamposite, as Nike Sportswear and Nike Basketball will honor the 20th anniversary of Eric Avar’s iconic design with a number of original Nike Air Foamposite One and Nike Air Foamposite Pro colorways returning to store shelves. Today we get news that the Nike Air Foamposite One Royal will be making its return this coming January 2017 with a remastered attention to detail featuring that hypnotizing Dark Neon Royal upper paired with black accents and that perfect icy outsole combination.

The Nike Air Foamposite One “Royal” first burst onto the scene in 1997 attached to the rising star of Penny Hardaway. The Royal colorway matched the Orlando Magic uniforms and wasn’t necessarily a smash hit at the time – many simply weren’t ready for the futuristic aesthetic and original price point. In fact, it took Nike an entire decade to retro the original Foamposite colorways back in 2007. Are you excited about the return of the Foamposite One Royal? Be sure to check out more photos of 2017’s 20th anniversary celebration of the Nike Air Foamposite One Royal and we’ll keep you updated on an exact release date in the near future right here on Sneaker News.

An Italian Version Of The Nike Air Max 97 Silver Bullet Is Releasing

Of the recognized chapters of the Air Max legacy, the Air Max 97 model, inspired by bullet trains and a running track, remains the most “untouched”. By that, we mean the shoes have yet to undergo an “Ultra” treatment that its predecessors have gone through. The 97 itself hasn’t gotten the Retro treatment in a while either, but we know that’ll change in 2017 for the 20th Anniversary of the bubbly shoe. Before that year-long celebration arrives, it appears that the OG “Silver Bullet” colorway is making a surprising return, but with a twist; it features tongue and heel pull-tabs striped with Italian flag colors, and unsurprisingly, the shoes are only available at select shops in Italy such as Slam Jam Socialism. Preview the shoes just below and stay tuned for the release tomorrow, October 5th.
