Brace yourselves, the Summer will be getting a lot hotter this year with the release of this new colorway of the Air Jordan 11.

Having originally released back in 2001 and considered one of the most popular colorways of the Air Jordan 11 Low of all-time, the Air Jordan 11 Low Varsity Red now returns 15 years later for 2016. This colorway of the Air Jordan 11 Low is covered in white on the traditional ballistic nylon mesh upper while Varsity Red covers the patent leather mudguard and some of the pods on the translucent outsole.

No exact release date exists yet but this low-top Air Jordan 11 is expected to release some time this Summer. Stay tuned to Kicks On Fire for more.

Author’s Take

There?s only a couple of colorways of the Air Jordan 11 Low that I would consider buying and this white/red version isn?t one of them. I?m sure lots of people will be hyped to pick up a pair though.

Scheduled to arrive at select Jordan Brand retailers later this Summer is this new colorway of the Air Jordan 12.

First previewed on the site last week, this colorway of the Air Jordan 12 will be making its debut later this Summer and features a Grey, White and University Blue color scheme. The majority of the upper is done in a Grey tumbled leather while contrasting hits of White has landed on the midsole, outsole and mudguard. However what really makes the shoe pop are the University Blue and Obsidian Blue accents on the branding and inner liner.

What are your thoughts on this upcoming colorway of the Air Jordan 12? You can look for this pair at select retailers beginning on June 25th for $190. Make sure you visit our Air Jordan 12 Grey/University Blue launch page to see more information on this upcoming release.

The combination of white and grey on the upper gives this Air Jordan 12 a nice look, but I’m not a fan of the University Blue. For that reason I’ll be passing.

Wrestlemania Kicks: Shane McMahon Took A Leap Of Faith In His Air Jordan XXX PE, Shaq Returns In The Reebok Shaqnosis

Yup, he actually did it. Shane is still certifiably crazy after all these years.

Shane Hell In A Cell

In what will most likely be the most talked about moment from Wrestlemania 32 for years to come, Shane McMahon took the leap of faith and missed an elbow drop meant for the Undertaker. And by “leap of faith” I mean he jumped from the top of the Hell In A Cell cage – no less than 20 feet high – onto the announcers table. Unlike previous leaps from the Cell, this was the first one where the participant willingly jumped to his doom. It was such an insane spot that you could hear fans actually chant “please don’t jump” to Shane right before the jump. Thankfully, there was plenty of padding on those tables to cushion Shane’s fall because he was able to finish the match and take a Tombstone from ‘Taker without having to be legitimately – keyword being “legitimately” – stretchered out of the arena.

Prior to that stunt, Shane had already proved that he hadn’t lost a step in the years since he last stepped into the ring. Between the punches, the MMA-style submission holds and the Coast-To-Coast dropkick onto a trash can, Shane was flying all over the place in a pair of Air Jordan XXX exclusives made for the occasion. Something tells me this was a better investment on Jordan Brand’s part compared to the last wrestling legend that got on their seeding list.

WWE Shane McMahon Air Jordan XXX PE 1 WWE WWE

As for the rest of the night in kicks on pro wrestling’s biggest night, Shaquille O’Neal made his Wrestlemania debut just a day before being inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall Of Fame by participating in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal in the classic black and white Reebok Shaqnosis. Sadly, the Diesel’s – with apologies to Kevin Nash – time in the Battle Royal would be short-lived as the rest of the participants teamed up to eliminate him and The Big Show.

WWE WWE

Not to be outdone on a very long night where everybody was set on trying outdo each other, trio tag team The New Day might have taken home the prize if not for Shane’s leap. The WWE tag champs came out for their battle against The League Of Nations in a giant cereal box of Booty-O’s and wore old school Saiyan armor in homage of Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z. What cereals about booty and DBZ have in common I’ll never know, but props to Kofi Kingston for breaking out what looks like the Jeremy Scott x adidas JS Wings 3.0.

Sneaker Grails: The Air Jordan 11 Was Made For The Golf Course

One of the reasons the Air Jordan 11 is often cited as one of the greatest – if not the greatest – basketball shoes ever made is due to their versatility. No, it’s not because it’s an amazing on-court performer that virtually everybody from point guards to centers can wear, but because they can work on the court and off it. Nowadays, that phrase gets used for practically every sneaker that comes up, but the Air Jordan 11 was one of the first times people that weren’t even into sneakers looked at basketball shoes as an option with formal wear. Seriously, since the Air Jordan 11 first dropped in 1995, how many weddings have you been where the groom and/or the bride wore 11s? Personally, I don’t even consider 11s for athletic use anymore because of advancements in technology, but even if I owned a pair when I was young, I wouldn’t dare get them dirty because they look so damn pretty.

I will make one exception, though, and that’s if Nike Golf and Jordan Brand gives us the Air Jordan 11 ready to hit the golf course. That would be a beautiful thing and I could pining for them in Sneaker Grails.

Justin Thomas
Justin Thomas

Way before Tinker Hatfield decided to get super formal with the Air Jordan 2012, the Air Jordan 11 was a shoe that anybody with a nice fitting suit could wear out and not look out of place. Matched up with golf attire, the 11 looks right at home with its patent leather rand overlay because golf shoe makers have been using the shiny material for quite some time. The cordura nylon might give some old golfers pause because they’ve been wearing leather since the dawn of time, but with new golf shoes pushing to go lighter and more flexible that they have ever been, nobody should bat an eye at them anymore.

Through the years, Michael Jordan and various Jordan athletes and associates have worn modified 11s with golf spikes. The carbon fiber shank and practically the entire midsole and outsole would have to be replaced with the Free-inspired tech that Nike has been championing lately. But there is no doubt that the demand for them would be huge, highlighted last year when Jordan Brand dropped the Air Jordan 6 Golf and promptly sold them out in mere hours.

Keegan Bradley Keegan Bradley

Keegan Bradley is maybe the most notable golfer besides MJ to rock the 11s made for play, snapping pics of them for all the world to see and envy. Meanwhile, famed friend of the brand Chi McBride has even customized his Js to wear on the course, including what appears to be an Air Jordan 11 Low Varsity Red that will be getting a retro release later this year. If only that, and the upcoming Space Jam Air Jordan 11, it came with a golf version too…

The Air Jordan 10 City Pack Lands In Charlotte

We already knew that the Air Jordan 10 “City Pack” was going to be a bit different this year thanks to previews of the Air Jordan 10 “NYC” and Air Jordan 10 “Chicago”. Today’s preview of the upcoming Air Jordan 10 “Charlotte” confirms that Jordan will be branching out further from the original “City Pack” intentions for a modern update referencing Michael Jordan’s current team affiliation. The Charlotte Hornets are fielding their best squad yet under MJ, and what better way to celebrate what could be home-court advantage in the first round of the NBA Playoffs than with an Air Jordan 10 pair of their own? A premium white leather base is accented by Light Purple and Teal accents throughout while ‘CHA’ stitching adds a PE effect. The Air Jordan 10 “Charlotte Hornets” will release on June 18th for $190 USD. Check out a better preview below and check out more Jordan release date updates right here on Sneaker News.

From North Carolina: Top 15 Powder Blue Air Jordan Releases Of All-Time

Powder blue means the world to Michael Jordan. Having grown up in North Carolina, he could have gone so many different paths and colors (the red of NC State, the royal blue of Duke, etc.) during his college days, but he was first discovered by Dean Smith; and Tar Heel Nation, sneakerheads and velour suit makers are thankful for that*. The red and black that he wore as a member of the Chicago Bulls will always be more memorable to fans around the world, but Powder Blue or its colloquial name, ?Carolina Blue? is where Jordan?s heart is.

Seeing the colors of Jordan?s alma matter is not a new proposition for Jordan Brand; we have seen countless Air Jordans in the colors of the Tar Heels and many Jordan Brand releases often come in Powder Blue flavors. With his beloved Heels making a return trip to the NCAA Championship Game tonight against Villanova and the pending release of the Air Jordan 12 GS University Blue that has the guys all up in their feelings, here is a look back at some of the best Powder Blue Air Jordans ever. To qualify, the shoe has to have had a retail release (because PEs would just be unfair) and the blue has to skew more towards the North Carolina shade of blue which means anything Gamma is thankfully disqualified.

*Thank God that Jordan went to North Carolina. Can you imagine how much more insufferable those fans from that other school down the road would be if Jordan had decided to go there?

Air Jordan 3 Dark Powder Blue

Jordan Brand
Jordan Brand

One of the newest Powder Blue Air Jordans also kicks off our list. Some people have been quick to write this one off especially in light of the admittedly superior Pantone Air Jordan 3, but chances those won?t be hitting your feet anytime soon. So it’s a slow climb to the top begins for this colorway and only time will tell if it has staying power of the other kicks on this list.

Air Jordan 9 For The Love Of The Game

Foot Locker
Foot Locker

A nice and clean colorway that some people have knocked for having the ?For The Love Of The Game? logo on the heel instead of the ubiquitous ?23?. As part of a collection that was released during the time of the 2010 World Basketball Festival, it was a fun tribute to Jordan?s undying love for the game of basketball. Seriously, someone needs to come up with a uh, game where people take uh, drinks of uh, beverages when they watch a Jordan interview and count how many time he says ?the game of basketball.?

Air Jordan 17 Low ?University Blue?

Air Jordan Powder Blue - 12

The Air Jordan 17 might be remembered more today for the crazy suitcase apparatus that it came with originally, but it was still a very sleek shoe that saw a number of memorable releases. There is no doubt that a retro release of these today – as evidenced by the hype for the upcoming Air Jordan 17+ Copper – would be welcomed by those who are looking to expand their Jordan collection beyond just the first 14. This low-cut 17 in the Carolina colors was one of its best releases and even the much-derided hybrid models like the One6One7 looks great in UNC blue.

Air Jordan 12 White/University Blue

Air Jordan Powder Blue - 11

Another reason why University Blue has lasted as long as it has is because Jordan Brand Carmelo Anthony played for the Denver Nuggets for several seasons. Naturally, Jordan Brand was going to lace him up in PEs in Nuggets colors, which just so happen to match the blue of the Tar Heels. We eventually saw some of Melo?s kicks hit retail, although this particular colorway was a women?s exclusive at first and now a slightly different version will return in only GS sizes. Cry now, guys.

Air Jordan 18 Low University Blue

Air Jordan Powder Blue - 10

The Air Jordan 18 was Jordan?s send-off shoe as he wore during his final season in the NBA. Sadly, he never got to wear the 18 Low on the court because from a style standpoint, they were arguably better than the standard cut 18. And then add some Carolina colors to the mix and you have another underrated classic that people don?t pay attention to because it has a number greater than 14.

Air Jordan 15 SE Bragging Rights (UNC)

Air Jordan Powder Blue - 9

The Air Jordan 15 is widely regarded as one of the worst Air Jordans ever and Jordan Brand being the innovators and creative folks that they are saw it not as a failure but an opportunity. They took everything that was so terrible about the 15 and threw it out the window and left the things that were good about it (woven upper which we now see in things like the Jordan Future) and turned it into something amazing with the Air Jordan 15 SE. As part of the ?Bragging Rights? pack along with a Georgetown colorway, this turned out to be another example of Jordan trolling his good buddy Patrick Ewing. Like Georgetown can ever win against UNC?

Air Jordan 14 Black/University Blue

Air Jordan Powder Blue - 8

Thanks to guys like Andre Drummond, the Air Jordan 14 has been getting plenty of love lately on the internets. One colorway that we would like to see on the court soon would be these 14s.

Air Jordan 2 Carmelo Anthony

Air Jordan Powder Blue - 7

?Melo once again pops up on this list thanks to his affinity for the Air Jordan 2. Although this one is a little bit of a tougher inclusion than most of the other kicks on this list because it has hints of the Denver Nuggets yellow/gold, we still can?t deny that this was a huge success when it dropped a few years ago. Plus it manages to do the impossible and make the Air Jordan 2 tolerable to look at so there?s that accomplishment.

Air Jordan 12 ?Black/University Blue?

Air Jordan Powder Blue - 6

Once an online exclusive that became a general release, this became a rather polarizing colorway for the Air Jordan 12. But whether you love it because it dropped at retail during an age when online still wasn?t as big as it is today or you hate it because those who dropped the cash to buy what they thought was a limited release, these are a fine example of the 12?s greatness.

Air Jordan 10 ?Powder Blue?

Image: @gc911
Image: @gc911

As part of (well, kinda) the legendary Air Jordan 10 ?City Series? which consisted of cities that he tortured on the regular and players that he blessed with Js, the Carolina Blue version of the Air Jordan 10 is a vastly underrated pair that is underrated no more. Now watch some people say it’s overrated.

Air Jordan 11 Low ?Columbia Blue?

Foot Locker
Foot Locker

If you look real close, there really is a difference between ?Carolina Blue? and ?Columbia Blue?, but it can be negligible at times that my guess is even Jordan Brand can?t tell half the time. A summertime retro of these after first dropping in 2001 would have people in a frenzy. Although it looks like we’ll be getting a Varsity Red release instead.

Air Jordan 11 Ultimate Gift Of Flight

Air Jordan 11 - Ultimate Gift of Flight
Nike

How good are these 11s? Nike sold them for $500 and nobody blinked. Yes, it did come with a pair of the excellent Air Jordan XX9 – albeit in the lame elephant print rendition – but the real attraction was this “as close to the Pantone 11s as we’re ever gonna get” pair of 11s that draws attention anywhere it goes. Fingers crossed that Jordan Brand will eventually bring these back in solo form or with a better version of the XX9 or XXX for crying out loud.

Air Jordan 1 White/University Blue

Nike
Nike

We have seen Carolina Blue on the Air Jordan 1 in numerous forms through the years, perhaps most famously on a patent leather retro during the early 2000s. But during the Air Jordan 1?s first run, we saw them drop multiple colorways including this particular version that has yet to see a true retro to this day. Considering the Jordan Brand has been on a tear dropping ?Nike Air? 1s lately, we would love to see this come back. Beats dropping exorbitant amounts of money on eBay or building a time machine, right?

Air Jordan 11 ?Columbia?

Foot Locker
Foot Locker

Because this is one of only two kicks on this list that Michael Jordan has actually worn (that we know of). Jordan famously wore these during the 1996 NBA All-Star Game and walked home with MVP honors. It got a retro release a few years back to predictably sold out in seconds. Some of us would like another shot at these, Jordan Brand, just saying…

Air Jordan 9 ?Dark Powder Blue?

Air Jordan Powder Blue - 1

Because it always comes back to North Carolina. Jordan wore these during a famous Champs Sports ad that was more about selling the Carolina jerseys than they were the kicks. Well, they sold both…

Jordan Brand continues the “Cigar and Champagne” Collection with the introduction of two new championship-celebrating Air Jordan 8s. In 1993, Michael Jordan squared off against long-time friend and Dream Team teammate Charles Barkley in the NBA Finals. It took the Bulls six games to complete the series and clinch their first three-peat, and now 23 years later the Jumpman is referencing the accomplishment with the Air Jordan 8 “Cigar” and the Air Jordan 8 “Champagne”. Jordan Brand Celebrates The Olympics With The Air Jordan 7

By now, you can expect Jordan Brand to release a patriotic Air Jordan 7 retro every four years in honor of the upcoming summer Olympics. Memories of the 1992 Dream Team always run rampant before the roster of each Team USA Men’s Basketball roster comes to fruition. This year’s Air Jordan 7 “Olympic” breaks the mold from past retro releases with what some are calling a “Tinker Hatfield Alternate” tooling full of a number of new features. This preview showcases an updated heel branding featuring MJ’s Olympic number 9 in front of a unique American flag backdrop. Metallic Gold Coin accents represent the gold medal won that year with possibly the greatest basketball team ever assembled while a new Deep Royal Blue and Fire Red combination land on a white upper. The Air Jordan 7 Tinker Hatfield Olympic Alternate will arrive at retailers on August 16th for $190 USD. Check out a full view below and stay tuned for more right here on Sneaker News.

Whether you’re a fan of the WWE or not, there’s a good chance that you’ve seen or heard about Shane McMahon rocking fresh pairs of Jordans during live WWE events over the past month. For those of you who don’t know, the Super Bowl of the WWE is currently underway. The granddaddy of them all, Wrestlemania!

All week long we were wondering what Jordans would Shane McMahon be wearing for tonight’s big event. Our very own Editor-In-Chief even made a feature about it. Above you will see a tweet with an image of three different customized pairs of the Air Jordan 30, with customized dust bags and boxes included. All three pairs comes in a black upper with “Shane O’ Mac” written on the side of the shoe. Shane captioned the picture, “Thank @Jumpman23 for the love. More Images Of The Air Jordan 11 Low Navy/Gum

Air Jordan 11 Low Gum 2 Air Jordan 11 Low Gum

The Air Jordan 4 Dunk From Above garnered plenty of interest for the simple fact that it came utilizing a couple of features we’re not used to seeing on Jordan retros: a navy blue upper and a gum bottom outsole. That same motif is now being utilized on the Air Jordan 11 Low. If you liked Dunk From Above 4s, you’re probably going to want to also get a pair of these as well. Let’s get a closer look at the Air Jordan 11 Low Navy/Gum.

Simple in color scheme, the Jordan 11 Low lets its unique features do the talking. The shoe starts off with a tonal navy blue upper constructed out of ballistic nylon mesh and accompanied by the patent leather placed on the mudguard. A white midsole breaks up the tonal look of the shoe. White branding hits appear on the heel pull tab and tongue. Blue laces complete the look of the shoe. No word yet on when these will drop, but being that it looks to be a clean shoe for sunny weather, I’d expect these to drop sometime in the summer.

Author’s Take

I loved the Air Jordan 4 Dunk From Above, and I love this pair as well. Looking forward to this release. I really hope people overlook the shoe, cause I’d love to have a pair.

This Is The Air Jordan 8 Championship Pack That Will Be Releasing This Summer

Air Jordan 8 CC 1 Air Jordan 8 CC 2

About a week ago, we were told than an Air Jordan 8 Championship Pack was in the works. Today we get our first look at both pairs set to make up the commemorative pack.

Celebrating one of Michael Jordan’s six NBA championship rings, this Championship pack will consist of an Air Jordan 8 with a white base and and Air Jordan 8 with a black base. The white pair will feature a gold-colored heel counter with what appears to be fingerprints, perhaps symbolizing holding the Larry O’Brien trophy awarded to the NBA Champs. The black pair comes with a black heel counter with confetti that probably represents the celebration aspect of winning the ‘ship. Obviously, the shoes are not yet completed, but let us know what you think of the both pairs. Slated to drop in June with a retail price of $250 (each), which one do you like better?

via: @zsneakerheadz

Author’s Take

The gold heel counter that represents the Larry O’Brien trophy is pretty creative. I really like that on the shoe, I just wish it wasn’t done on the Air Jordan 8 (which I don’t like). Maybe Jordan Brand can revisit this concept with they release the Air Jordan 11 Championship pack.
