This Air Jordan 5 Low Inspired By One Of Michaels Rivals Released Today, Did You Cop

Air Jordan 5 4 Air Jordan 5 3 Air Jordan 5 2 Air Jordan 5 1

Usually we see Jordan Brand release their retros on Saturdays or maybe even sometimes on Sundays. But today JB threw a curve ball at us and dropped a new colorway of the Air Jordan 5 Low on a Monday.

Previously believed to be inspired by the New York Knicks, this Air Jordan 5 actually draws inspiration from the Cleveland Cavaliers. On March 28, 1990 the Chicago Bulls were facing the Cleveland Cavaliers. This went on to be one of, if not Michael?s greatest game ever as he scored a career-high 69 points and also pulled down 18 rebounds. The shoe he was wearing for that game? The Air Jordan 5. This colorway of the Air Jordan 5 Low features a Deep Royal Blue nubuck upper with Midnight Navy detailing on the midsole and inner liner, and Atomic Orange and Team Orange on the shark teeth, Jumpman branding, the inside of the tongue and the lace lock.

You can still pick up a pair if you haven’t done so already. Head on over to our Air Jordan 5 Low Knicks hub page to see more images and find out how you can grab a pair.

John Wall Breaks Necks By Debuting The Air Jordan 17+ Copper

The Air Jordan 17 will be receiving the retro treatment for the first time this year after making its debut back in 2002. The first colorway that will be hitting retailers is the OG Copper rendition.

Last night John Wall decided to break out the 17s a couple of weeks ahead of their release as the Wizards were in Los Angeles to play the Lakers. Wall managed to rack up 22 points and 13 assists and helped the Wizards earn 101-88 victory against the Lakeshow.

Take a look at some shots of John Wall wearing the upcoming Jordan Brand release and check in with our Air Jordan 17+ Copper launch page for the latest updates on this upcoming release. This Air Jordan 17 is scheduled to release on April 9th for a retail price of $250.

Author’s Take

These 17s look pretty nice on-feet but they don’t really match up with the Wizards uniforms. I would consider buying them if they weren’t retailing for $250.

Sneaker Grails: Batman Wore The Original Air Jordan 6 Black Cat

This past weekend, Batman vs. Superman: Dawn Of Justice debuted to crappy reviews and record-breaking box office receipts. The film laid the groundwork for what we hope will ultimately be an interesting alternative to the happy-go-lucky vibe of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but if this film was any indication of where we’re going, it will take a lot of convincing for the world to really feel invested in a overly brooding Batman by even Batman standards and a perpetually confused Superman. Thank God for Wonder Woman…

Anyways, last week we talked about the Batman and Superman match-up and how it wasn’t even fair to compare the two because Bats is the clear superior in every which way. Now for this edition of Sneaker Grails, we’re going to completely ignore the boy scout from here on out and focus on one particular pair in Batman’s arsenal that is set to make its retail debut this year. Wait, what?

One of the biggest retro Air Jordan announcements of 2016 so far has been the Air Jordan 6 Black Cat, a murdered-out version of Michael Jordan’s first championship sneaker. Set to drop on New Year’s Eve, the 6 will join the likes of the Air Jordan 3 Black Cat and the Air Jordan 4 Black Cat. The name has significance to both the man and the brand as Black Cat was Jordan’s childhood nickname and Tinker Hatfield has used the black panther as inspiration for a few Jordan shoes. However, we have to call the sneaker nickname into question because before either Black Cats dropped, there already was an Air Jordan 6 Black Cat and it happened to belong to The Dark Knight.

Back in 1991, actor Michael Keaton was filming Batman Returns, the sequel to the first Batman movie directed by Tim Burton. Before Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale and sad Ben Affleck would all don the cape and cowl, Keaton was killing it as the first big screen Dark Knight. In what would be one of many times Nike and Warner Bros. would bring Air Jordans to the big screen, the swoosh designed specially made boot versions of the Air Jordan 6 (in 1989, Nike hooked up Batman with black Nike Air Trainer 3s) for Keaton to wear while in his Batsuit.

1989batman.com 1989batman.com 1989batman.com 1989batman.com 1989batman.com 1989batman.com 1989batman.com 1989batman.com 1989batman.com

Since this was the early ’90s, very people knew or cared about collecting sneakers, so the boots ended up either in the hands of movie buffs or cold deathly embrace of a trash bin. But what is very clear to anybody who has either seen them in person or has done a Google search lately is that the Air Jordan 6 that Keaton wore in Batman Returns is in all-black, and thus should be considered one of the earliest (because who knows what samples are floating around out there that we have yet to see), if not the earliest, example of a Black Cat Air Jordan. Now it’s up for the Sneaker Internet to decide whether we should call the December 31 release the Air Jordan 6 Black Cat or the Air Jordan 6 Batman. They could stick with the Black Cat and still have a Batman connection since Catwoman was one of the main villains in Batman Returns, but either way it’s a win for Batman, which is all that really matters.

A Closer Look At The Upcoming Air Jordan 12 UNC

The Air Jordan 12 is going to have a busy 2016 with a number of classics returning ranging from the upcoming French Blues to the iconic Flu Games. A “Carolina Blue” aesthetic will also debut, one that favors Mike’s alma mater, the University of North Carolina, quite well. The downing of Notre Dame isn’t the only good news coming out of the weekend for the Tar Heels, as it looks like this Wolf Grey/University Blue Air Jordan 12 “UNC” will be headed to retailers later this summer. A muted grey base, light blue accents, and a heavy reliance on a cleanly white splash makes for a clean pair. Expect this AJ12 to arrive sometime this June, so check out a better look below and let us know what you think of this Tar Heels-like colorway by taking your thoughts to the comments section. A Detailed Look At The Air Jordan 12 Wings

The theme of flight will forever be associated with Jordan Brand given Mike’s ability to hang in the air throughout the first half of his career. Spike Lee and Michael Jordan got together for some of the most iconic commercials the sneaker industry has ever seen, but perhaps the most infamous Jordan poster of all time is his ‘Wings’ spread that featured MJ’s wingspan and a quote by English poet William Blake. This brand new Air Jordan 12 takes inspiration from that 90s nostalgia trip with a luxe take on what would usually pass for the Playoff 12s. Known as the Air Jordan 12 “Wings”, a premium black leather base sees metallic gold accents hit the eyelets and ‘Wings’ adorned midsole for an added lifestyle touch. You can expect this pair to hit retailers later this April, so check out the best look at this premium AJ12 below and let us know if you plan on picking up the colorway by taking your thoughts to the comments section.

The year of the Air Jordan 12 continues with another Air Jordan 12 that looks like it might have Georgetown roots. Featuring a grey tumbled leather upper with a white mudguard and a mix of Obsidian Blue and University Blue hits on the tongue, lining, heel and Jumpman logo and a Metallic Silver eyelet, the could pass a colorway for the Georgetown Hoyas or even the Final Four participant North Carolina Tar Heels. Could we see this colorway debut during Saturday’s big game? We can only hope for such heat.

The Air Jordan 12 Grey University Blue is currently scheduled to drop on June 25, 2016 for $190. For more information on this upcoming release, be sure to bookmark our Air Jordan 12 Grey University Blue launch page.

Author’s Takes

Juan Martinez, Editor-In-Chief: While not high on my list of priorities especially after finally seeing some actual images of the shoe, they are still another pair of Air Jordan 12s and it’s hard to screw that silhouette up (*cough* Gamma Blue 12s *cough* trash *cough*). If the release schedule is barren in June, I might consider picking up a pair.

A brand new colorway of the Air Jordan 12 will be arriving this year, as it will be joining a number of revived favorites such as the “French Blue“, “Cherry” and “Flu Game” iterations.

Author’s Take

Renz Ofiaza, News: I like the simplicity of the silhouette’s profile. In this colorway, it’s solid, but I would have preferred it more without the touches of Blue.

This Air Jordan 12 Wings Video Review Made Me Want Them Now

The Air Jordan 12 Playoffs are hands-down my personal favorite Air Jordan of all-time. There are a variety of reasons for this choice, from Michael Jordan messing around and getting a triple-double in the 1997 NBA All-Star Game to hitting the game-winning shot of Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz to this commercial, and the common thread among them is that MJ was a badass and he was wearing badass shoes. From the black and white color blocking that looks intimidating yet awesome as hell to the hits of red throughout the shoe, it was a perfect for the black socks and bright lights of a Chicago Bulls playoff run.

So how do you make the greatest pair (again, this is my opinion; you are totally within your right to disagree, but know that I don’t care and I won’t change my mind) even better? By adding gold, of course. Similar to how the DMP Air Jordan 11s made the Concords even better by ditching the Concord part and making it gold, the Air Jordan 12 Wings does away with the red and silver and opts for something a little more classy and refined. Enter the gold.

Air Jordan 12 Wings Video Foamer

Black, white and gold. Yeah, it doesn’t get much better than that. And Mr. Foamer Simpson has a pair and put up an early review about it. Yeah, I’m jealous, I won’t lie. For more news and information on this upcoming release, check out our Air Jordan 12 Wings launch page.

Another Look At The Air Jordan 17+ Bulls

We just came across new images of the Air Jordan 17+ Bulls and we’re here to share them with you. Coming in a Bulls theme colorway, this new look on the Air Jordan 17+ is said to be inspired by Michael Jordan’s 30,000th point in which he happened to score as a Washington Wizard while playing none other than the Chicago Bulls way back in January 4th, 2002.

The 17+ comes dressed in a black leather upper accented by the hits of gym red and white placed all over the shoe. The images above show notable features such as the black laces, Jumpman on the heel and vamp. The metallic red hits on the heel and the faux croc skin on the heel of the shoe. Said to be releasing on May 29th with a retail price of $250, is this a colorway you’re feeling on the Air Jordan 17+?

Author?s Take

It’s a clean colorway. The Black, Red and White color scheme is almost always a success. Not very happy about the retail price, but what are you going to do.
