One of the most remarkable design details of the entire Air Jordan legacy is the over-sized tongue with reflective skin on the Air Jordan 5. For this upcoming release, Jordan Brand is taking that signature mark to newer heights with this solid gold treatment that we’ve never seen on a release before. The white/black/gold mix is rather trendy at the moment thanks to the Air Jordan 12 “Wings” that hit stores last week, so could this Air Jordan 5 “Gold Tongue” feature a hidden detail as well? There are no release details as of yet, but stay tuned for more updates as we near Air Jordan 5 season (remember, the Nike Air pair hits in July).

Last night Chris Paul and Kobe Bryant played against each other for the final time ever as the Clippers came out victorious against the Lakers at Staples Center.

Today CP3 posted the picture you see above on his Twitter of the Air Jordan 3 in the Home Lakers colorway from the Air Jordan Kobe Pack that also includes the Air Jordan 8. Kobe even signed the sneakers and referred to Chris Paul as “One of the greatest competitors of all-time.” It doesn’t get much better than that.

We’ve seen lots of friends and family receive the Air Jordan Kobe Pack but nothing really compares to this pair that Paul received from the Black Mamba himself with a special inscription. The Air Jordan 17 Copper is dropping this weekend and based on the reaction from social media and on the blogs, it’s the rare Air Jordan from his post-Bulls days that isn’t totally crapped on. Make no mistake about it, though, there was a lot of negative buzz about the 17 and it’s luxe 17+ cousin when they first dropped back in the days and a lot of it had to do with the superfluous add-ons like the attache case that made anybody that bought them look like Irwin R. Schyster and a CD-ROM that kids look at now like we once look at Betamax. These “extras” added to the price tag that while it felt novel at the time is largely forgettable in retrospect.

But take away the extraneous stuff and you’ve got a beautiful and luxurious pair in the Air Jordan 17 Copper, which was also known as the “Croc” at the time. Michael Jordan wore the 17s during his time with the Washington Wizards, but another guy that you might know also rocked during his sneaker free agency. Before he moved to Nike, Kobe Bryant had arguably the greatest sneaker season anybody has ever had as he wore every brand imaginable, including Jordans. During the 2002-03 NBA season, he wore Jordan player exclusives that he was recently gifted with this past February, but he also wore stuff like the 17s. As a matter of fact, some might say it looks even better on the Laker purple and gold than on Jordan’s white, blue and brown. Yes, it’s weird to mention MJ and not automatically equate with black and red.

Keegan Bradley’s spot as a Jordan Brand athlete is social media gold. Anytime he posts a pair of never-before-seen Jordan golf shoes, he brings together all sorts of groups that you normally wouldn’t associate with one another, namely golfers and sneakerheads. But that’s the power of the Jumpman these days, as the younger golfers are hyped to see the Jordans on the course while sneakerheads are blown away that their grails can look so good on Amen Corner.

Speaking of Amen Corner, Bradley blew up Golf Twitter again when he wore a new pair of Jordans for the first round of The Masters. While wearing Js for playing golf shouldn’t be that surprising anymore, what got everybody’s attention was the giant 45 graphic on the shoe’s upper. It’s gaudy, obnoxious and loud on an otherwise plain white pair, but dammit if it’s not the most beautiful thing in the world. Anytime MJ wearing the four five is referenced I am all in on that. So thanks for having a sense of irony, Keegan, especially since you’ve had a tough day one so far.

Don’t look now, but the Air Jordan 9 Low Black / White release is less than two weeks away. Over the past few months we’ve seen the shoe on-feet, on-hand and plenty of glamour shots from different sources. Today, Nike finally decided to share the official images of the upcoming drop.

This black, white and red version of the Air Jordan 9 Low comes constructed out of a black leather upper. The black motif is given a premium touch with the addition of the tonal snakeskin texture placed on the overlay of the mudguard and heel. Contrast on the upper takes place by way of the hits of red found on the lining and the branding hits placed on the tongue and heel of the shoe. A red Jumpman is spotted on the rear white portion of the midsole. Rounding out the look of the shoe is the white placed on the rubber outsole component of the shoe. I can definitely see the Air Jordan 9 Low doing better than the Air Jordan 5 Low. Coming in a black and red colorway doesn?t hurt either. Not to mention the faux-snakeskin placed on the upper. Not a bad looking shoe.

Bred is back on the Air Jordan 9 Low, but with a twist. Jordan Brand has managed to introduce snakeskin to the lowtop variety of a shoe that Mike never got around to wearing during his tenure with the Chicago Bulls. The Air Jordan 9 always comes with an asterisk given that it was the first shoe created during Michael Jordan’s brief baseball career. With the then future of Air Jordan models in limbo, Tinker managed to create a unique silhouette complete with one of the more interesting outsoles in the Jordan signature series. This April’s Air Jordan 9 Low “Bred” manages to incorporate the usually gaudy snakeskin trend in a rather subtle way, as the synthetic texture lands on the mudguard in a matching black shade. University Red hints creates that iconic Chicago-like colorway throughout. Expect this pair to hit retailers on April 16th for $170 USD. More detailed photos below.

The Air Jordan 10 Paris is set to be a part of this year’s Air Jordan 10 City Pack. Paying homage to to city of Paris, the shoe comes with a “75” embroidered on the ankle that represents France’s city code for Paris. The shoe comes comes dressed in an upper with a unique texture that winds up giving the shoe a very distinct and intriguing look. The black upper is paired up with a translucent outsole to create some subtle contrast. Adding some color to the shoe are the purple accents placed in areas such as the outsole, heel pull tab and ?75? embroidered on the ankle collar of the shoe. It should also be noted hat the Air Jordan 10 Paris appears to be a Europe release, meaning that we probably won’t be seeing these stateside.

The Air Jordan 30 Black Cat was showcased way back in February during NBA All-Star weekend in Toronto when it was on display at the Jordan flagship store in Toronto at 306 Yonge. A couple months later and Jordan Brand has finally decided to release this stealth colorway to the public.

The Jordan 30 Black Cat is dressed in a Black, Anthracite and White color scheme. The all-black upper is constructed out of a combination of woven, knit and printed materials. Adding another dimension to the shoe is the clear translucent outsole equipped with its new herringbone pattern. An All-Black Air Jordan XXX (30) Emerges

Although this isn’t the first time Jordan Brand has introduced the Air Jordan 30 Black Cat (people were able to check out out at the Jordan flagship store in Toronto at 306 Yonge), today we take a look at the official images of the latest and greatest upcoming colorway of the Jordan 30.

This version of the Jordan 30 has it comes dressed in a tonal black and anthracite upper. The Black Cat aesthetic on the upper is then paired up with a translucent outsole and a black midsole. Jordan Brand will once again celebrate Michael Jordan’s Championships by releasing a commemorative pack that consists of a shoe model he wore during the year he won one of his six titles. Last year we say the Air Jordan 7 Championship pack, this year Jordan Brand is releasing the Air Jordan 8 Championship Pack.

The pack will include two unique colorways of the Air Jordan 8 that pay tribute to Jordan and the Chicago Bulls’ ?three-peat? championship basketball season in 1992-93. The pack will contain ?Champagne? and ?Cigar? colorways. One is dressed in a White upper paired up with a Gold-plated counter with Jordan’s fingerprints as a nod to the Larry O?Brien trophy given to the NBA Champs. The second pair comes in Black paired up with confetti print along the midsole as a tribute to the celebration you have once you become champion. Each shoe is said to feature premium materials while being inspired by the look of Champagne bottles and Cigars.

We can rave (or rant) about the quality and whether or not it lives up to the “Premium” moniker, but the only topic of discussion that is on people’s minds – and this was made obvious by the Periscope broadcast we just put up – are the price of the shoes. Because it’s $400 and that’s not cheap now, then or ever.

At $400, the Air Jordan 4 Premium is a luxury sneaker, no matter how you want to spin it. Much like the Pinnacle Air Jordan 1s that caught on with the public last year, the craftsmanship and level of detail – from the pony hair to the metal hang tag – is there. Yes, the box would have been nicer as was pointed out in the comments on the Periscope, but really, who wouldn’t want a pair of classic Jordans in a colorway that is timeless in black and white? But there’s a giant wall that gets in the way in form of the price tag.
