While we speculated this past December 2015 that a sneaker collaboration with the animation studio, Laika, would come to fruition, a recent COMPLEX-exclusive interview with iconic Nike designer, Tinker Hatfield, has revealed that the Air Jordan 15 will be revived in a special variation this season that’s inspired by the animated film, Kubo and the Two Strings.
With the studio essentially owned by Nike, and Phil Knight as the co-founder, the movie which is set to debut on Thursday, August 18th, is directed by his son Travis Knight.
The film is centralized on a young boy named Kubo, who must locate a magical suit of armor worn by his late father in order to defeat a vengeful spirit from the past.
Two iterations of the Air Jordan 15 will be offered — one in blue/black and the other in red/black — with each suggested to be extremely limited. On August 8, the Just Keep Livin Foundation will host a live eBay auction with dozens of pairs of the Kubo 15 sneakers up for bidding, as all proceeds will go to the Foundation?s programs that teach the importance of decision-making, health, education, and active living.
Then, on August 10, gamers who sign up to play the new Moon Beast game at the official Kubo and the Two Strings website, can compete to be the top scorers and win a pair of the Kubo 15s as well.
Expect more ways to acquire a pair very soon, but, stay tuned to KicksOnFire for further updates.

Author’s Take
When I was younger, I wasn’t really into this pair, but now, I appreciate it a lot more. I like the colorways and these should get the attention it deserves.
