The Air Jordan 1 Reverse Shattered Backboard Releases This Weekend In Europe

Is the Air Jordan 1 “Reverse Shattered Backboard” releasing at select European retailers this Saturday, October 1st? That seems to be the case as a few reputable shops have claimed that they not only have the Air Jordan 1 Reverse Shattered Backboard in-stock but will be releasing the pair this Saturday, an entire week ahead of schedule. While this may be an error in processing, we’ll have to wait and see if shops like Titolo suddenly postpone the drop to align with the official U.S. release on October 8th.

The Air Jordan 1 Shattered Backboard released an entire year ago featuring a pre-aged Sail base and accents of Starfish orange and Black to pay homage to the exhibition uniform Michael Jordan wore during an off-seasn Italy game where he shattered a backboard on one of his high-flying dunks. The color blocking was reminiscent of the Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe” and was lauded for the premium details and unique insole graphic. Now Jordan Brand is returning to that theme with the Air Jordan 1 Reverse Shattered Backboard featuring color distribution that more readily represents the iconic “Chicago” theme. What do you think of the look? Check out more detailed shots below and stay tuned for a stateside release on October 8th for $190 USD. For more of the latest updates, head to our Jordan release dates page.

Comprised of tumbled and smooth leather, contrasting black accents adorn the Swooshes, wings logo, collar section and laces to cap off its respective theme.

So Whats The Story Behind The Air Jordan 11 Wool / Suede

By now, most of you have already heard/seen the brand new Air Jordan 11. The shoe came without warning and people already have their opinion about it.  As of right now, the shoe is dubbed the Air Jordan 11 Wool but a large number of people, I don’t understand why though since the upper does not look like wool at all. This is wool, the Air Jordan 11 you see above looks more like a brushed suede to me, but that’s besides the point. We recently came across the story behind the Air Jordan 11 Wool and how it came about, today we’d like to share that story with you.

The Air Jordan 11 Wool was made for a special kid by the name of Rhome Simpkins from Jordan Brand’s Make-A-Wish Foundation. Simpkins was born with Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome, which is a rare X-linked recessive disease characterized by eczema, thrombocytopenia (low platelet count), immune deficiency, and bloody diarrhea (secondary to the thrombocytopenia). Simpkins along with his family recently visited the Nike HQ and Jordan Brand surprised him with this Air Jordan 11 for his birthday. Now that you know the story behind the shoe the R.S branding on the side of the heel makes much more sense now, right?

The Air Jordan 11 appears to be done in a premium Grey suede that no doubt gives the model a look we’re not used to. The same hue us used on the toe, lining, laces and branding. So why a change of material? Jordan Brand wanted to give the classic model a new look and have it express itself in a brand new way. As of right now, there is no release date for the shoe but word is going around the shoe shoe WILL eventually release. Thoughts on the shoe? Let us know in the comments below.

This Air Jordan 31 Is A Tribute To Prince

I know what you’re thinking, who can this purple Air Jordan 31 possibly belong to? Maybe someone that plays for the Lakers? Suns? Kings? Raptors? Actually, none of the above.

This Air Jordan 31 features a purple Flyweave upper that shifts to black on the leather ankle/heel. The Swoosh has been done in white while the Jumpman by the ankle is purple.

Here Is The Latest Image Of The Air Jordan 15 Stealth

Back in March we let you know that this Black and Grey version of the Air Jordan 15 would be making a return sometime in 2017. Today we have a new image of that shoe to share with you.

Done in a Black and Grey colorway, the Air Jordan 15 initially released back in 1999 and got the retro treatment back in 2007. Notable features on the shoe include the woven-like paneling, the rubber heel and the odd-looking tongue. The all-Black shoe is accented by the Grey accents noted on the midsole that extend up to the actual bade of the shoe. Known as the Air Jordan 15 Stealth, stay tuned to find out when these get a release date.

The Air Jordan 3 Cyber Monday Releases On October 15th

The Air Jordan 3 “Cyber Monday” will have that simple yet premium Black/White colorway first found on the Air Jordan 1 “Cyber Monday”, but will only don the nickname in spirit and aesthetics, as the pair will release on October 15th for $190 USD and not during the American online shopping frenzy following Black Friday.

It’s been over two years since Jordan Brand last brought out the iconic Air Jordan 3 and plenty has changed for the Jumpman since then. Not only has the brand showcased a dedication to the Remastered process by upping the quality and attention to detail of their retros, but they’ve also started to implement their Premium and Pinnacle series for an overall lifestyle brand focused on off-the-court styles. The Air Jordan 3 Cyber Monday finds the perfect balance thanks to a smooth black tumbled leather and a white midsole/outsole unit. While there’s no ‘Nike Air’ branding on the back with this pair, the Jumpman logo is camouflaged through a matching black shade.

What do you think of the Jordan 3 Cyber Monday release? Check out a better look below and stay tuned for more Jordan release dates right here on Sneaker News.

Are You Looking Forward To The Air Jordan 3 Cyber Monday

Air Jordan 3 Air Jordan 3 2 Air Jordan 3 1

After a two year hiatus from production, the iconic Air Jordan 3 is returning in an all-new colorway this Fall 2016.

As the moniker suggests, the theme coincides with the Monday after the Thanksgiving holiday, which was first evident on the AJ 1 from 2015. Although, this pair is expected to make its debut in the coming weeks ahead instead. Flaunting a simple two-tone finish, the sneaker?s smooth and textured leather is rendered in black, while it?s juxtaposed atop a clean white rubber sole unit.

Classic Jumpman embroidery adorning the tongue and insoles, in addition to a Jumpman branded patch treated in a matte finish rounds out its notable details.

Priced at $190, you can purchase this pair at select JB and Nike retailers on October 15th.

Author’s Take

I?m biased towards the silhouette and even though it looks somewhat boring, the colorway is a classic. I?m not really into it that much yet, but, I?ll still probably purchase since it?s a simple and clean offering.

An Initial Look At The Air Jordan 11 Wool

Air Jordan 11

Following a teaser yesterday, the first full reveal of the forthcoming Air Jordan 11 Wool is finally showcased.

Interestingly, it appears that the sneaker flaunts a premium hairy suede construction instead of wool. In addition, the signature jumpman logo is embossed across the heels, alongside another stamped embroidery that features the letters, “R.S”. Finally, a crisp white rubber sole unit offsets the dark grey upper for a simple two-tone design.

Expect this pair to debut sometime during Holiday 2016 for a price tag of $400.

Author’s Take

I like it. It actually doesn’t look that bad, but, I would’ve preferred more woolen materials. It’s nice to see new materials being applied on the silhouette, but, I’m against that price tag.

SoleFly Remembers The Florida Marlins 97 World Series With Upcoming Air Jordan 23 Collaboration

There are no words to comprehend what may be going through the minds of Jose Fernandez’s family and the Marlins organization. The sudden passing of the ace pitcher has left the city of Miami in shock, but the outpour of support has proven to be valuable solace to those affected the most.

Two weeks ago, SoleFly dropped a teaser for an upcoming collaboration with Jordan Brand inspired by the Florida Marlins organization and its 1997 World Series victory – the first of the franchise’s history. It unpredictably arrives at a time of mourning and sad remembrance, so iIf anything, this collaboration could not have arrived at a better time. It takes a lot to bring a city known for bright lights and unabashed celebrating to its knees, and although Jose’s passing was a big blow to South Beach, the Marlins showed last night that the city would bounce back with ease.

The SoleFly x Air Jordan 23 will release on October 22nd, 2016, limited to 1,500 pairs. Full images of the shoes and pricing info will be revealed soon.

LeBron James Admits To Chasing Michael Jordan (Again)

We always knew that LeBron James wanted to be like Michael Jordan. Look at the video up top from early on in his career and you can see the Jordan influence runs deep. From wearing the same jersey number for most of his career to signing with Nike to possibly starring in a Space Jam sequel, James has made no secret about his desire to be “Like Mike” even if he never said it out loud. What’s (slightly) different this time is that he wants to not only reach MJ’s level but go beyond it and go down in history as the game’s greatest player.

Cue the Jordan stans in 5, 4, 3, 2…

During an interview with the Associated Press, James said that it was his “personal goal to be able to be greater than great. I think that should be everybody’s personal goal.” He goes on to say that his desire to chase Jordan’s shadow shouldn’t be seen as unusual because he uses Jordan as the standard of where he wants to be and what he eventually wants to surpass. It’s not about imitation like people want to always make it about, but rather an individual setting a goal and reaching it and jumping over the Jumpman it in time. Huh, sounds like something our boss said a while back.

With three championships, James still has a long way to go if he wants to reach the seven he would need to pass Jordan, but in terms of being basketball’s – especially now that Kobe’s gone – biggest name currently, he has the title hands down. Now the shoes might be a different matter. For all the great kicks James has, he might not have a pair that even comes close to the Space Jam 11s that he would have live up in a Space Jam 2.
