This silhouette is one my favorite sneakers, but, this colorway isn?t that appealing in my view. I?m not a fan of the colors and I guess it?s a good thing this is limited to GS pairs only.

The Air Jordan 31 Battle Grey Drops Flyweave For Cracked Leather

Nike Basketball is rolling out their “Battle Grey” Collection later this weekend, an ominous greyscale take on their three signature shoes and the Nike Hyperdunk 2016 to commemorate battling expectations, doubts, and the haters in the early stages of the season. Likewise, Jordan Brand is unleashing the “Battle Grey” colorway for its Jordan athletes to start the season as a show of solidarity. With a premium cracked leather upper, embossed Swoosh branding to contrast the stitched Jumpman logo on the side panel, and the unique choice to move away from the Flyweave woven upper for a more solid monochromatic aesthetic, the “Battle Grey” look is said to reflect the challenges that the athletes will face in the new season.

A release date of October 29th was originally confirmed, but Jordan Brand states that a release is TBD. Check out more detailed shots below and be on the lookout for this pair to arrive via Nike.com soon.

With the 2016-2017 NBA season officially kicking off yesterday, Jordan Brand felt that it’s the perfect time to unveil and release another new colorway of the Air Jordan 31.

Known as the Battle Grey colorway, just like the Nike Basketball Collection, this Air Jordan 31 features a grey textured upper that shows wear and tear, or that has been “battle-tested.” Nike says that this colorway of the 31 “represents the challenges Jordan Brand athletes? age in some cases, inexperience in others ? and their teams ? particularly complacency and doubt ? face at the beginning of a new campaign. United, these athletes play to overcome critical tests and prove naysayers wrong.”

Look for the Air Jordan 31 Battle Grey to release on October 29th for $185.

Interview: Mike Conley On His Love Of Call Of Duty, Move To Jordan Brand

To say that Mike Conley had a great offseason would be an understatement of huge proportions. He signed a contract extension with the Memphis Grizzlies that briefly made him the highest paid player in the NBA, his team brought in Chandler Parson to infuse some young blood to the veteran-laden franchise and he became the newest Jordan Brand athlete. Oh, and the newest Call of Duty game drops in a few days, which Conley has been a fan of since the first Modern Warfare. Everything is coming up Conley.

The Grizzlies begin their 2016-17 today against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but prior to that, we had a chance to speak with Mike about his CoD fandom, the latest entry in the franchise – Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare – that’s dropping November 4 and of course, his move to Jordan Brand.

Mike’s history with Call of Duty:

Man, my history with Call of Duty goes way back, seriously, since like 2007. Modern Warfare, World At War, I mean all those got me hooked. My rookie year and I was just getting into the league, I had a lot of free time and that was one of things that I got into was playing video games and Call of Duty was one of my favorites and each game that comes out I get it and play it as much as I can before the season gets started.

I think it’s because it’s competitive. It’s another way to keep your competitive juices flowing and that’s something I love to do. You get to team deathmatch and you can have a bad game, you can’t find a way to help your team, but you get to the next game, and it’s like you’re the man and that feeling can carry over (in CoD or in the NBA). It’s easy to pick up and you can learn your way through playing.

On who he plays CoD with and how he plays:

I’ll play with my cousins, other family members, teammates. There’s a lot of guys that play, but now it’s mostly my younger teammates that get on and bring the video games (on the road). There are teammates from the past who I still play with when each game comes out. We have these little groups that we keep when we want to play.

Darrell Arthur plays in Denver for the Nuggets now and we played like every day and you’re talking about any video game (with him). Right now, James Ennis is on the team, I’ve played with Tony Wroten, there’s a lot of guys, Marc Gasol will get on every now and then, O.J. Mayo, we’ve had a bunch of people through the years.

I’m aggressive, man (laughs). I don’t like to sit back and snipe. I end up losing my aggressive and I become too passive just waiting around in a spot. I’d be out there and moving around.

Does he play with fans?

Nah, they can’t tell they’re playing against me. I keep it kinda quite when I’m playing and I prefer to keep it that way.

The direction of CoD from Modern Warfare to Infinite Warfare:

I think Call of Duty is just evolving with the times. It’s a lot of different and a lot of changes from Modern Warfare and World At War to where it is today and you’ve got the futuristic stuff and you can scale the walls and do that stuff.

I think being an old school gamer, you kind of want to go back to how you used to play it when you first start playing it. You get used to one way, but over the years, I’ve gotten accustomed to how the changes have gone and I don’t have a problem with it.

His favorite title from past Call of Duty games:

I’d have to go back, was it World At War that first had the dogs attack (note: yup, it was World At War)? The one where you can send out dogs because you had certain killstreak going and you can have dogs chasing people around, I thought that was pretty cool. I’m a dog person and I love German Shepherds so it was cool to see them in the game.

NBA
NBA

The move to Jordan Brand was exciting for Mike:

Yeah, I’m very excited about the move. I’ve had a taste of a lot of different shoe companies over the years to able to land with Jordan is everybody’s dream. If you grew up a Michael Jordan fan and a fan of his clothes and shoes, this is something you’ve always wanted. To be able to join such a storied brand is an honor and I would love to be a part of it.

The process of signing with Jordan Brand:

[Conley’s team] had reached out during the summer, because a lot of companies did not know my status with my shoe deal. I was a free agent going into this summer and a lot of people didn’t know it, so they weren’t just knocking on the door like that. So we had reached out and when [Jordan Brand] found out I was, they were able to work something out and long story short, got it all worked out, prior to September and it’s been great.

The feeling Mike got when the first Jordan care package(s) came in:

It was one of the best days of my life, to be honest, man. Nah, for real, man (laughs). To open the door and there was boxes stacked up about 7-feet high and I was like ‘Oh my God, what is it this?’ I had no idea what to expect and I mean, I was like a kid in the candy store. I was opening every box just to see what was inside from one box to the next. And I mean, shoes after shoes, some I haven’t seen and some that haven’t even come out yet. I had it on my phone and sending to all my friends and just going crazy. You would have thought I was like a 12-year old kid that day (laughs).

Favorite Jordan growing up:

I love the 6s, I love the 11s. I really like the 12s and 13s too, but I really like the 13s a lot. I was a big fan when I was a kid and it was a good time wearing them, I enjoyed those Js. From the Air Jordan 11 through 13, those are my sweet spot.

What he’ll be wearing for the season:

I’ll try to wear the primarily wear the 31s unless we are told otherwise or if there’s a special game or event where they’re trying to push (a certain shoe). The 31s feel great, they fit my foot perfect and that’s the most important thing to me is to take care of my feet and it’s the performance of them. The look is great to me and I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of Grizzlies colors we can come up with. That’ll be cool.

What retro would he want to have in Grizzlies colors right now:

Right now, one retro in our colors, it would probably be the 11s. I’d like to see it.

Pristine white on the midsole unit finishes off the profile.

Renz Ofiaza, News: I?m a fan of the silhouette, as well as the LA-based brand, and this offering looks pretty solid (pending this is how the real pair will look). Nonetheless, this will obviously get the attention it deserves. Re-sale prices should be pretty high.

Low-key, aside from the Air Jordan 12, 2016 has also been pretty good year for fans of the Jordan 1. A handful of OG 1 colorways have made their return this year and soon you will be able to add another OG pair to that list. Here’s our latest look at the Air Jordan 1 High OG Storm Blue.

The Storm Blue 1s are probably one of the most underrated OG 1s ever made. You rarely hear someone say “bring back the Storm Blues!”. Although that may be the case, we should definitely not be sleeping on this dope colorway. Using the model’s traditional color-blocking, the shoe comes with a premium leather upper done in a Storm Blue and White colorway. The Wings branding on the ankle comes in White, while the Nike Air on the tongue comes in Storm Blue. More of the same hues appear down low as a White midsole/Storm Blue outsole combo round out the aesthetics of the shoe. Said to be dropping on December 23rd for $160, stay tuned as more info on this highly anticipated release begins to surface. Also, make sure you check out our Air Jordan 1 High OG Storm Blue hub page for all the latest images and info on this upcoming drop.
