Why This Air Jordan 9 Retro Is Being Called Space Jam

Confused as to why the Air Jordan 9, coming back in its most iconic look of white, black, and red, is being referred to as the Air Jordan 9 Space Jam? Jordan Brand is pushing the Air Jordan 11 Space Jam as the retro of choice for their upcoming Holiday 2016 release slate thanks to the iconic film’s 20th-anniversary celebration. But there was another pair that received quite a bit of the spotlight during Michael Jordan’s preparation to get back into basketball shape to help the Looney Tunes defeat the Monstars.

Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny would have to go to Michael’s house to get a pair of the classic Air Jordan 9 OG in white and black from MJ’s trophy room as well as a pair of MJ’s college warm-up shorts for good luck. A subsequent training montage would ensue featuring the pair followed by the decision to lace up the Space Jam 11s during the actual game. So there you have it – the shoes are certainly part of the Space Jam fabric, but to refer to these as the “Space Jam” is definitely a first.

The Air Jordan 9 Space Jam will arrive at retailers on December 3rd featuring a new remastered leather upper complete with a high-contrast white and black throughout. Head over to our Jordan release dates page for an updated look at the Jumpman’s Holiday 2016 plans, and stay tuned for more official images of Jordan’s Space Jam footwear collection.

The Air Jordan 1 Rare Air is making a return with these brand new colorways. Although we still don’t know when the shoes will drop, we do have updated images of the two colorways set to drop in the near future.

(Un)officially know as the Air Jordan 1 Rare Air Shadow and Air Jordan 1 Rare Air fragment design, both pairs rock similar color blocking as the original color schemes noted on the original Air Jordan 1. Constructed out of premium tumbled leather, standout features on the shoe include the “AIR JORDAN” branding on the ankle collar, Jumpman branding on the tongue, “RARE AIR” branding right below the Jumpman and what has most people talking is without a doubt the tonal Nike Air branding embroidered on the heel. What do you think? Was this really necessary? Is this a dope take on the original versions? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned to find out when both of these get a release date.

Author’s Take

Of course, I’d rather have the original Shadows or Frags, but I wouldn’t consider these ugly, at all. They’re solid, I just don’t know if I’d pick them up.

Air Jordan 1 Retro High Rare Air Returning In Two More Colorways

Could the Air Jordan 1 Rare Air return to store shelves in the near future? Today we get a look at the latest Air Jordan 1 featuring premium tumbled leather and two familiar shades from some of your favorite AJ1 releases – the “Shadow” and “fragment design” options. The Air Jordan 1 Retro High Rare Air series saw a short-lived test-run in which the ‘Wings’ branding on the ankle collar was replaced by a simple ‘Air Jordan’ text callout. The look was straight from early 1985 samples of Michael Jordan’s famous first signature and helped celebrate three decades of the Air Jordan 1.

Today’s samples of the Air Jordan 1 Rare Air features a simple White/Wolf Grey-Black option with premium tumbled leather throughout. The tongue skips the swappable velcro tags seen on previous releases but still comes equipped with traditional Jumpman branding with ‘Rare Air’ text callouts underneath. There’s also an interesting “Game Royal” option that should grab the attention of anyone obsessed with Hiroshi Fujiwara’s limited fragment design x Air Jordan 1 collaboration.

Check out more detailed shots below and we’ll let you know once these 2 upcoming Air Jordan 1 Rare Air colorways are available in the near future. Head over to our always-updated Jordan release dates page for more.

Air Jordan 11 Low Returning In 2017

The Air Jordan 11 Low has become an annual Summer tradition and it appears that 2017 won’t break that streak. It appears that the low-top Air Jordan 11 is returning this April in a brand new colorway that features a glossy mudguard (not quite patent leather) and an opaque sole similar to the 72-10 Jordan release from last December. It also features a silver “23” and Jumpman logo on the tongue, so don’t be surprised if a “Barons” nickname begins to surface. Check out the full shot ahead and stay tuned for more updates.

The return of the Air Jordan 11 Space Jam has inspired a few other silhouettes from Jordan Brand to receive the iconic finish.

Chris Paul?s Jordan CP3.X consists as one of them. The respective color scheme of black, concord and white is essentially reflected on the silhouette, as its black-based upper is complemented with concord hits on the flywire, followed by white speckling scattered throughout its entirety.

All adhered atop a translucent outsole, the model is topped off with an enlarged Jumpman branding no the side panels.

Retailing for $125, you can purchase this pair at select Nike and Jordan Brand retailers now.

Author’s Take

There’s too much speckling in my opinion. It should’ve been a cleaner profile. Either way, I’m not really a fan of the model, but this colorway is solid.

Initial Look At The Air Jordan 11 Low Barons

Screen Shot 2016-11-15 at 9.42.34 AM Air Jordan 11 Low

While an unofficial rendering was showcased this past September, leaked images of the purported Air Jordan 11 Low Barons have now surfaced online.

Unlike the rendering’s metallic silver patent leather overlay, these images portray a darker tone and suggested to be similar to the Air Jordan 11 72-10 instead. Tonal black further comprises the upper, while the notable “23” and Jumpman logos are embroidered on the heel tab.

Rumors suggest this pair to make its debut sometime in 2017 but, stay tuned to KicksOnFire for further updates.

Author’s Take

If it does end up looking like the 72-10s, this pair should be sought after. I’m not really a fan of the silhouette in low-top form, but, it’s always an appealing profile.

The Air Jordan 9 Kobe features a White leather upper with Concord detailing on the patent leather mudguard that also wraps around the heel. Finishing the Lakers theme are hits of Tour Yellow on the branding on the tongue, midsole, heel, and outsole.

Couldn’t Nike/Jordan Brand have given us the Air Jordan 3 instead? Oh well I guess. Good thing I’m not a Kobe fan.
