The Original Royal Is Coming To The Air Jordan 31

Jordan Brand was fairly straightforward with the inspiration behind the Air Jordan 31 – Michael Jordan’s first signature silhouette served as the blueprint for the design as it’s the first model since the Air Jordan 1 to feature a Nike Swoosh on the side panel while the premium leather touches, original Wings logo, and overall shape are all inspired by Peter Moore’s AJ1 design. The first few colorways to release have all been inspired by iconic Air Jordan 1 colorways, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Air Jordan 1 “Royal” will be referenced atop the Air Jordan XXX1 in the new year.

Today we get a few teaser images of the upcoming Air Jordan 31 Royal slated to arrive at retailers on January 21st for $185 USD. The usual gradient hits the synthetic leather and Flyweave upper as a black heel gives way to a Game Royal shade by the toecap. Vibrant Game Royal accents hit throughout on the Jumpman branding as well. Does this mean that the Air Jordan 1 Royal will be releasing this January as well? We’ll have to wait and find out.

Check out more detailed angles below and stay tuned for more Air Jordan Release Dates right here on Sneaker News.

The Air Jordan 31 Chinese New Year Features Real Bamboo On The Heel

Jordan Brand has been ramping up their Air Jordan 31 colorways with a number of enticing options to round out the year, and 2017 is already promising for the latest signature model inspired by the AJ1 thanks to the upcoming “Chinese New Year” Collection. While the trio of footwear releases boasts two different Air Jordan 12 options, the Air Jordan 31 Chinese New Year stands out thanks to the implementation of actual bamboo on the heel trim.

The Air Jordan XXX1 has already utilized a number of different material options to go with the futuristic Flyweave construction throughout. Not only did we see patent leather in an effort to mimic the Space Jam 11s, but the Battle Grey option featured a pre-cracked leather in an homage to blacktop hooping. Air Jordan 31 “Chinese New Year” features a clean white to black Flyweave gradient with Pure Platinum Jumpman branding while an icy outsole showcases a bamboo pattern underneath. Team Red Jumpman branding stands out in contrast while the embossed Wings logo is almost camouflaged on the synthetic leather.

The Air Jordan 31 Chinese New Year is slated to arrive January 7th in China while a U.S. release is scheduled for January 28th for $200 USD. (The additional price is due to the premium bamboo on the heel). Check out more detailed photos below and head over to our Air Jordan Release Dates page for more updates.

Jordan Brand Creates A New Trainer Inspired By The Air Jordan 12

The Air Jordan 12 had such an amazing year that Jordan Brand decided to design a new trainer inspired by the popular retro silhouette.

Known as the Jordan Trainer Prime, the sneaker features a breathable mesh upper with Dynamic Flywire for a lock down fit. The pair above comes covered in Wolf Grey with White detailing on the mudguard, midsole, and the Flight Flex groove outsole. Team Red accents on the branding and Flywire provide further contrast.

Take a look at the official images above and look for the Jordan Trainer Prime to release at select Jordan Brand retailers in the near future.

The Air Jordan 1 Ultra High Banned Is Now Up For Grabs

I hit up my local mall earlier this week to do some last minute Christmas shopping. I went in to one of the sneaker retailers and came across the Air Jordan 1 Ultra High for the first time. I had written about it in the past, but this was the first time I had seen them in person. Let’s just say, I was impressed. Although I did not get to try them on, the bootie construction and materials used on the upper were both a breath of fresh air on a Jordan Brand classic. The fact that it was done in a Bred colorway was also a plus. Now I’m not saying this is better than actual Jordan 1 Breds, I’m just saying that I wouldn’t be opposed to adding these to the rotation, and you shouldn’t either. Out now, pick up a pair from your select retailers for $150.

The Air Jordan 6 Black Cat Releases Next Friday

Jordan Brand went to work all of 2016 when it came to the number of releases they managed to come out with. With close to a week left in 2016, Jordan Brand has only a few more releases up their sleeve. One of those drops happens to be the Air Jordan 6 Black Cat.

Set to release on December 30th for $190, this colorway of the Air Jordan 6 is done in an all-Black leather upper accompanied by the large perforations placed throughout that result in plenty of ventilation. Also worth mentioning is that the perforations come with a reflective element to increase visibility in low-light conditions when exposed to flash. White accents are noted on the midsole and Jumpman branding, while a little bit of Navy Blue is noted on the outsole. Are you picking up a pair? Click and bookmark our official Air Jordan 6 Black Cat launch page now for more images, info and release details.

Who Got Lucky And Picked Up A Pair Of The Air Jordan 11 Suede

The biggest (and most expensive) release of the day was without a doubt the Air Jordan 11 Suede. If you took the time to read this week’s Buy, Pass, Wait, you would know that the shoe was priced too high for my taste. Regardless of what I thought about the shoe, it seems many of you liked tis premium version of the Air Jordan 11 enough to pick up a pair for $400. As you all know by now, the shoe pretty much sold out virtually everywhere. Which leads me to my next question: were you happy with the $400 pick up? Does the shoe live up to its price tag? Are you satisfied with your purchase? Sound off in the comments below and let us know what you think about the Air Jordan 11 Suede.

Air Jordan 1 High OG Storm Blue Is Still Up For Grabs

The Air Jordan 11 Suede may have sold out, but the Air Jordan 1 High OG Storm Blue is still up for grabs. Not really sure why it’s still sitting but I find it kind of amazing being that it’s an OG colorway with OG Nike Air branding on it. Many people decided to overlook these for whatever reason, but in my opinion, the more I got to see of the shoe, the more I learned to appreciate this unloved Air Jordan 1 colorway. Head on over to your local retailer or pick up a pair online right now and add these to your dope collection of Jordan 1s for the retail price of $160. Did you decide to pick up a pair? Were you happy with your purchasing decision? Let us know in the comments below.

The Jordan Son Of Mars Returns In 2017 In Pacers Colors

A couple years back, Jordan Brand had some fun remembering some of Michael Jordan’s greatest rivals in their ongoing “Familiar Foes” Collection that was highlighted by a Dominique Wilkins-inspired Air Jordan 1 “Human Highlight Reel” colorway. Another Eastern Conference rival was Reggie Miller and the Indiana Pacers, a team that gave Mike some trouble throughout his later seasons.

Today we get a look at the Jordan Son of Mars, a pair that will debut in a number of new colorways come Spring 2017. This Pacers-esque vibe features a unique combination of slate blue and varsity yellow while a traditional cement grey Elephant Print highlights the toecap and heel. The mid-foot strap even switches things up thanks to a shiny metallic Spiz’ike print to contrast more grey on the Air Jordan 5-inpsired tongue.

What do you think of the Jordan Son of Mars Pacers colorway? Check out more detailed shots below and head over to our Air Jordan Release Dates page for an updated look at all of the 2017 coming attractions from the Jumpman.

The Air Jordan 12 Is Transformed Into A Training Shoe

The Air Jordan 12 had a stellar year on the retro release calendar. Not only did Jordan Brand bring back the Flu Games and French Blues, but they also managed to revamp the silhouette with OVO Drake collaborations and that extremely limited Wings offering alongside . Now Jordan Brand is returning to the model with the Jordan Trainer Prime, a brand new training model that doesn’t hide the fact that it’s inspired by the retro 1997 silhouette.

The Jordan Trainer Prime features that Flight Flex groove pattern on the outsole unit for the flexibility to move and cut in all directions while a dual-density midsole provides maximum cushioning and comfort. The upper is where things get truly interesting though, as the Air Jordan 12 inspiration shines thanks to a mesh upper with similar grooves throughout while an asymmetrical mudguard comprised of synthetic tape and fuse mimics the shape of the iconic retro. Underlying Dynamic Flywire adds lockdown support while Jumpman branding hits the heel. Even the ‘Two-3’ tongue branding returns. What do you think of the Jordan Trainer Prime’s inspiration? Check out more detailed photos below and be on the lookout for a release on Nike.com in the near future.

The Air Jordan 1 Ultra Banned Is Now Available

The Air Jordan 1 “Banned” was one of the best releases of 2016. It’s a shoe that’s credited with starting the modern sneaker industry as we know it today, and while Jordan Brand gave us all plenty of opportunities to purchase a pair, not everyone was able to land the coveted Banned Jordan 1s. That’s why the Air Jordan 1 Ultra Banned would be the perfect consolation prize for anyone looking to fill the void of having the classic black and red Air Jordan 1. Sure, it’s not a traditional look by any means with the woven ankle support, new slip-on neoprene ankle collar, and stitched on outline of the iconic Swoosh branding, but it’s interesting and available enough to consider.

The Air Jordan 1 Ultra Banned features a winterized wool upper with a Jacquard-like tooling on the toebox and heel while the traditional ‘Wings’ branding is stitched into place. Boot-like eyelets and rope laces add a winter-inspired takedown of the Air Jordan 1 Banned. Check out more images of this Air Jordan 1 Ultra Banned below and know that select retailers like Politics have this pair today. You can also find sizes on Nike.com.
