Initial Look At The Air Jordan 1 High Metallic Red

With the Air Jordan 1 High Royal returning next weekend, another OG colorway of the iconic silhouette will be returning this year.

Sporing the classic Metallic Red finish, it complements the Metallic Navy pair that dropped this past June 2016, and this forthcoming variation will also be its first retro. Staying true to its original design, this model is essentially a remastered take, as classic Nike Air branding will be applied on the tongue and not feature a Jumpman on the heel.

Featured in its first look, this sneaker is suggested to make its debut on May 2017 for a retail price of $160.

Stay tuned to KicksOnFire for more updates.

The Air Jordan 4 Pure Money Debuts In May

The return of the Air Jordan 4 Pure Money will be one of Jordan Brand?s most pristine offerings this year.

Last offered in 2006, this forthcoming pair essentially stays true to its original counterpart. Treated in a timeless aesthetic with an all-white finish, premium leather comprises the sneaker’s upper, with the signature netting detail prominent across its side panels and tongue.

Pops of pure platinum adorn the lace tabs, insoles and Jumpman logo across the heel for glossy appeal, while it’s all adhered atop a matching full-length rubber sole unit.

Retailing for $190, you can purchase this pristine pair at select Nike and JB retailers starting May 13th.

The defining vibrant tone covers its premium tumbled leather upper, while complementing the design are clean white accents adorning the logo, pull-tab and midsole unit. Finally, it’s all adhered atop a milky translucent outsole.

Retailing for $140, you can purchase this women?s exclusive pair in sizes up to 9.5 at select JB and Nike retailers tomorrow, Saturday, March 25.

How Michael Jordan Built The Jordan Motorsports Racing Team

A lifelong fan of motorsports, Michael Jordan actually had to agree to stop riding a motorcycle when he signed his first NBA contract. (Perhaps that explains the years of driving Ferraris.) While not on the bike himself, his passion remained throughout the years, and in 2004 it all became official with the founding of his own motorcycle team. Linking up with veteran racing team manager Pete Mauhar, Michael Jordan created the Jordan Motorsports team, quickly collecting a team of riders in about five weeks?a task that would normally take about a year?to compete in 2004’s Daytona race.

When the team rolled into Daytona to compete, Jordan Motorsports hadn’t even been officially announced yet. But the racing world took note thanks to the slick motorcycle suits and bike designs by Nike’s Mark Smith, who successfully scrambled to outfit the team after MJ tasked him with designing their aesthetic in those few short weeks.

Being a Jordan racing team, there was one more important piece of gear the racers would need: sneakers, of course. Adding footwear to the racing kits was obviously a natural move for Mark Smith, longtime collaborator with Tinker Hatfield and Jordan himself. Smith helped design a number of Air Jordan retro colorways exclusively for the team, and that’s where shoes like the coveted Air Jordan 6 “Motorsports” were born. Another one of the most legendary and shoes designed for the team was the Air Jordan 4 in white, black, and royal, which hits retail for the first time ever this weekend on Saturday, March 25th.

Check out the bike, suit, and helmet designs throughout the years here, and for the full story on the history of the Jordan Motorsports team, visit the official Air Jordan Blog.

Will The Air Jordan 1 Royal Be A Bigger Release Than The Banned

Just how limited will the Air Jordan 1 “Royal” retro be when it arrives on April 1st? When the Banned 1s rolled out on September 3rd, 2016, Jordan Brand had already spent a ton of time and effort telling the story of the coveted retro and even created a Banned Pop-Up location at 108 Wooster Street in New York City. The Jumpman has been much quieter in regards to the return of the Royal 1s though, so does that mean that the production numbers will be even lower for the lifestyle colorway of the 1985 classic? We’ll just have to wait and see. In the meantime, check out more detailed shots of the Jordan 1 Royal below courtesy of Concepts, and stay tuned for more Jordan Release Date updates right here on Sneaker News.

The Month Of April Brings The Return Of The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Royal

The time is almost here. The return of the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Royal is fast approaching. Just like the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Bred that dropped late year, don’t expect this Jordan 1 release to be an easy cop. Considered one of the most classic colorways the Air Jordan 1 High has ever donned, this drop definitely falls under the must-cop category.

Done in remastered fashion, the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Royal comes in an all-leather upper done in a Royal Blue and Black color scheme. The leather texture/quality appears to mimic that of the Bred pairs, which or may not be to your preference. Done in OG fashion, these Jordan 1s come with Nike air branding on the tongue and insoles, all while sitting on top of a White midsole and Royal outsole. April 1st. $160. This potential cop should need no convincing, try your best to get a pair. You’ll thank me later.

This Decades Old Air Jordan PE Is Releasing In 2017

Michael Jordan’s second signature silhouette is perhaps the most unloved of his first batch of Nikes. Perhaps that has to do with the injuries limiting his on-court time with the model or the strange lack of both Swoosh and Jumpman branding to not really give the pair an identity. Regardless, it’s nice to see that Jordan Brand has unearthed some more forgotten history regarding the Jordan 2 with the release of the Air Jordan 2 UNC Alumni later this summer.

The pair combines both Chicago and North Carolina chapters of Michael Jordan’s historic career through traditional Bulls’ accents blending with a Tar Heels’ themed Carolina Blue heel panel. The date on the back marks the day of the historic UNC vs UCLA alumni game at Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles, California. Interesting enough, Michael Jordan actually wore this pair as one of his first PEs even earlier than that date suggests on January 18th, 1986 during the Carolina Pro Alumni basketball game. You can read more on that alternate history here.

Given the unique heel branding that features the anniversary date of the alumni game – 6/28/87 – we’re going to keep June 28th as the tentative release date for this coming Jordan 2 Alumni retro. Check out more detailed shots below and stay tuned for more Jordan Release Dates right here on Sneaker News.

Commemorative Details On The Air Jordan 2 Alumni

Following a first look, new detailed imagery of the forthcoming Air Jordan 2 Alumni is featured, as it commemorates the classic North Carolina vs. UCLA Alumni Game at Pauley Pavilion on June 28, 1987.

This specific variation of the sneaker was introduced by Michael Jordan on January 18th, 1986 as part of the Carolina Pro Alumni basketball game, and just like that original PE, this 2017 model is rendered in the same palette of white/varsity red with accents of carolina blue and black.

In addition, commemorative details are placed on the heel — ?MJ? and ?6/28/87? as tribute to the date the UNC vs. ULCA Alumni game was played.

Retailing for $190, you can expect to find this standout pair at select JB and Nike retailers sometime this Summer or Fall 2017.

Stay tuned to KicksOnFire for more updates.

Another Jordan Sneaker To Work Out In, The Jordan Trainer Essential

What we’re taking a look at here is the Jordan Trainer Essential, a brand new upcoming trainer from Jordan Brand.

Looking at the sneaker we can see that the shoe takes inspiration from the Air Jordan 8, most notably the two cross straps across the tongue and the graffiti graphics on the heel/ankle. Other details include a mesh upper with perforations for ventilation, a sock-like bootie construction, and a midsole with “23” branding on it.

So what are your first thoughts on the Jordan Trainer Essential? Look for this Bred colorway, as well as other to arrive at select Nike retailers in the near future.

Air Jordan 1 Mid Ice Blue

It looks like the Air Jordan 1 Mid is making a comeback at the perfect time. On the heels of the announcement that the Air Jordan 1 Mid “New Love” will be receiving a proper retro later this year, today we get a look at the freshly minted Jordan 1 Mid Ice Blue, a pair that features a UNC-vibe perfect for the current March Madness season given the Tar Heel’s trip to the Sweet 16. Sure, that Varsity Royal base color might be a little off, but there’s now denying that the head-turning Ice Blue shade on the heel, toebox, and Swoosh branding has some North Carolina origins. Stay tuned for a release date coming in the near future via our Jordan Release Dates page.
