Tinker Hatfield Breaks Down The Air Jordan 5 Fab Five Design

The new era of Jordan Brand joining forces with the University of Michigan is off the a hot start. Tinker Hatfield crafted this special colorway of the Air Jordan 5 Retro to honor the legendary “Fab Five” squad that dominated college hoops in the early 90s. Anyone who watched basketball during that short arc was certainly influenced by the style and swagger put forth by Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Juwan Howard, Ray Jackson, and Jimmy King, and with this Air Jordan 5 Retro, Jordan Brand is honoring the past while saluting the future of the Jordan x Michigan partnership.

Featured on this PE are various details that call back to Michigan’s traditions; “Hail To The Victors” is seen on the tongue labels, the Fab Five hand gestures are embroidered on the heel, the Michigan’s bold M logo replaces the Jumpman on the large tongue. This Air Jordan 5 “Fab Five” PE was issued to friends and family of the brand and will not release to the public.

OFF-WHITE c/o Virgil Alboh x Air Jordan 3 Retro OG Set For May Debut

Virgil Abloh’s take on Nike classics has been at the center of a lot of sneaker discussions lately, and no shoe has been as polarizing as the Air Jordan 1 that he just debuted on-feet at yesterday’s Met Gala. It appears that Virgil, through his OFF-WHITE imprint, is also designing an Air Jordan 3 Retro OG. While a first look at the shoe has yet to be revealed, we can certainly expected “Nike Air” on the heel given the Retro OG designation. Currently, the shoes are expected to drop in May.

The Jordan Trunner LX Brings The Thunder

The Jordan Trunner LX is apparently borrowing a classic colorway from the Air Jordan 4 for this new look in black and yellow. Indeed these do have some serious “Thunder” vibes thanks to the predominantly black mesh and woven upper with yellow hits for the strap, branding, and outsole for the retro running/training hybrid from Jordan Brand. If you’re a Trunner fan, you can find these arriving soon at select Jordan retailers.

The Air Jordan 1 Goes Triple Black

This weekend we’ll be seeing the return of the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Metallic Red, but what’s next after that for the Jordan 1? Jordan Brand doesn’t have any new Jordan 1 colorways planned for the rest of 2017, at least not yet, but that changes today as we take a look at this new Triple Black rendition.

Set to release some time next month, this new colorway of the Air Jordan 1 High features a plush black leather on the majority of the upper with additional black detailing on the laces, inner liner, tongue, Wings and Swoosh branding, midsole, and rubber outsole. The only contrast comes on the “NIKE AIR” branding on the tongue which has been done in University Red. Do you anticipate scooping up this Air Jordan 1 when it releases some time in June? Retail price will be $160. Keep it locked to Kicks On Fire for a solid release date.

Virgil Abloh Hits Met Gala Red Carpet In OFF WHITE x Air Jordan 1

Virgil Abloh showed up at the Met Gala with a surprise on his feet: the OFF WHITE Air Jordan 1 made a first on-feet appearance by the man who created the collaboration with brand new lime green labeled shoelaces. By now, you’ve seen OFF WHITE‘s take on the iconic Air Jordan 1 featuring updated panels and an avant-garde construction numerous times, and while his pants might be covering up the majority of his exclusive sneakers, it does serve as a reminder that Virgil may still be tinkering with the coming Jordan 1 update. What do you think of the Air Jordan 1 OFF WHITE? Check out more on-feet photos below and stay tuned for more updates regarding this strange collaboration right here on Sneaker News.

Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Releasing In Black And Red

Another form of “Bred” is hitting the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG in June. This brand new colorway, wildly similar to a Japan-exclusive Air Jordan 1 from back in 2001,  makes use of the tonal black tumbled leather upper with red hits on the Nike Air tongue label as well as the insole. Also releasing on June 20th is a Sail/University Red colorway of the Air Jordan 1, which Jordan Brand confirms to be this year’s Air Jordan 1 “Premium Essentials” Pack. Expect these on June 20th at Jordan retailers worldwide and on Nike.com.

Our First Look At The Air Jordan 1 High GS Linen

With the Air Jordan 4 GS Linen will be making it return this year on June 10th, Jordan Brand thought it was a good ideal to also release a GS version of the Air Jordan 1 High rocking the same motif/style. What you see above is a first look at the Air Jordan 1 High GS Linen.

The Air Jordan 1 High GS Linen will be a grade school exclusive that comes with a tumbled White leather upper equipped with perforations on the toe. Creating the Linen motif is the contrasting wrap around the heel as well as on the lining of the shoe. Additional hits of White can be seen on the Wings branding, laces and the entire sole unit. How many people who can’t fit into a GS-size wish they could after seeing these? No word yet on when these will be dropping but we expect them to do so right around the same time that the Linen 4s drop. Stay tuned as more info begins to surface.

Will The Air Jordan 1 Metallic Red Hit The Sales Racks Too

Can there ever be too much of a good thing? One could make an argument that that’s the case with the Air Jordan 1 High, which has been hitting retail at quite a high volume of colorways over the last couple of years. When OG colorways hit the sales rack and clearance section of e-stores, does that mean there are just too many to choose from? The next new “OG” release that we could see going the route as the recent “Metallic Navy” colorway is the bringback of the very similar “Metallic Red” version, which at this point seems poised to be the next Air Jordan 1 High that will get deep discounts after sitting on the shelves.

Of course, we’ve also just seen the beloved “Royal” colorway just return and sell out immediately, so perhaps whether a release of the Air Jordan 1 High will sell or sit depends only on the popularity and caliber of the colorway itself. Get the conversation started and share your thoughts on the subject in the comments below, and also let us know if you plan on picking up the “Metallic Red” colorway wen they release on May 6th.
