Quick Take: The Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 Is The Evolution Of The Nike Mag (And FlyEase)

The first thing that came to mind when I saw the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 being revealed was “what does it sound like?” Well, thankfully Cristiano Ronaldo was around to answer that question for me.

Huh, that sounds awfully familiar. Even the light reminds me of something I saw a few months ago. Hey, wait a minute…

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the HyperAdapt and the Nike Mag have a lot in common. Anybody that is fortunate rich enough to own a pair of both this year will probably see that the machinations of the shoe are one and the same. The difference is that while the Mag will feel antiquated – but still cool in a retro sort of way – the HyperAdapt will look and feel what we thought 2015 and 2016 would look and feel like in 1989 when we saw Back To The Future Part 2 for the first time. The future really is here now.

NIKE HYPERADAPT 1.0 1 NIKE HYPERADAPT 1.0 5 NIKE HYPERADAPT 1.0 2 NIKE HYPERADAPT 1.0 3 NIKE HYPERADAPT 1.0 6 NIKE HYPERADAPT 1.0 4

Nike HyperAdapt Mag FlyEase LeadBut another thought also crossed my mind when I saw the HyperAdapt. I thought about somebody very close to me who struggles to tie their shoes. I thought about Matthew Waltzer, the inspiration for the Nike LeBron Soldier 8 FlyEase, our 2015 Sneaker of the Year winner. I thought about the millions of people out there who suffer from life-altering ailments that prevent them from doing the simple things in life that we take for granted like tying shoes. Maybe they don’t need the zipper collar of the FlyEase to put on a pair of shoes but they need assistance in tying them. The HyperAdapt is another tool that has implications that reaches far beyond our needs as athletes or as sneakerheads. It can changes lives. So debuting it on a grand stage like today was very important.

There are people who like to bemoan things like the Nike Innovation Summit. They don’t understand what the deal is and just want to see new shoes that look like old shoes. Well, this show isn’t for them; it’s for the rest of the world to see that the swoosh are doing things that can help people. Yes, Nike is a business first and foremost, but maybe somebody watching at home sees that there is hope for those in their lives that have disabilities or maybe they become inspired to do take the HyperAdapat and make it better. It’s not always about the product but the spark that results from seeing that product. That’s the power of the Nike platform that honestly no other brand in the world has. I don’t need to be there to know that it has already changed our lives even though Nike isn’t dropping the shoes until later this year.

Nike Unveils The Air Zoom KD 9

KD 9 1 KD 9 2 KD 9 4 KD 9 3 KD 9 5 KD 9 6 KD 9 7 KD 9 8

Nike has just introduced Kevin Durant’s 9th signature shoe that’s being known as the Nike Air Zoom KD 9. The shoe, which was designed by Leo Chang, was molded in response to Kevin Durant?s trademark versatility and impressive court coverage and offers support, comfort and responsiveness via the most advanced construction of Nike Flyknit and Zoom Air technologies to date.

The Nike Air Zoom KD 9 features a low-top cut as well as a Flyknit upper that features a pattern with a distinct honeycomb structure precisely knit for the multidimensional movement of basketball and Durant?s lateral quickness. Down below the shoe has a visible, tapered Zoom Air unit runs from heel to toe, marking the evolved Air bag?s debut in basketball. The new Zoom Air unit was developed over three years of advanced wear testing and is filled with fibers that compress upon each step, then spring back for unmatched response. The air unit is 16 millimeters thick at the heel and progressively narrows to 10 millimeters at the forefoot.

The Nike KD 9 will be available globally in all sizes beginning June 20 at Nike.com and select retail locations. It’s also being reported that Kevin Durant will be debuting the KD 9 at the 2016 Rio Olympics this Summer.

Author’s Take

Upon first glance I like what I see from the KD 9. I’m a huge fan of Flyknit so to see the Kevin Durant’s signature get a Flyknit upper is very cool and the honeycomb pattern also makes it stand out from other Flyknit shoes. I look forward to seeing future colorways and eventually trying on a pair.

Great scott! Power-lacing Nike sneakers? Nike Unveils the Next Generation of Air: The Air VaporMax

Ever since Nike’s Air Max technology debuted in the Air Max 1 in 1987, the famous visible Air has seen steady steps of progression. From Air Max, to Air Max2, to Air Max 360º, and a few more in between, the innovation hasn’t stopped. Now Air Max goes from incremental steps to one giant leap. Introducing the Air VaporMax, the next generation of Air Max, which introduces the first-ever full-length Air shoe with absolutely no foam in the midsole. With new breakthroughs in technology that allow the VaporMax’s Air units to act as a standalone outsole, the shoe offers a reduced weight that remains flexible and responsive thanks to the multi-chambered pods of Air providing, quite literally this time, the maximum amount of Air underfoot. The innovative new Air unit is paired with a Flyknit upper to provide ideal support and fit while further reducing the shoe’s weight. Preview the shoe in detail here, and stay tuned for release information.

Charles Barkley Goes To Duke With New Nike Air Max2 CB 94 Release

Chuck keeps it real. Charles Barkley admitted that agents paid him at Auburn, his alma mater, but that hasn’t stopped him from expressing his love for the college program throughout the years. We’re not so sure how Chuck feels about his iconic Nike Air Max2 CB 94 getting a Duke Blue Devils colorway though. Coach K and Barkley’s paths crossed during their time spent on the 1992 Dream Team (Barkley as an imposing force in the post and Mike Krzyzewski as an assistant coach). Now the two meet up once again thanks to Nike dressing up the retro for one of their premier college basketball programs. A vibrant Game Royal upper is accented by a Black midsole as white branding contrasts on the heel. It’s a strange pairing but makes sense in retrospect. After all, Barkley did utter the infamous chant, “I am not a role model”. And given a long-standing vilification of Duke players throughout the college basketball-loving world, and a certain Sophomore’s affinity for tripping opponents, this combination starts to have a running theme. But don’t trip – pick up this pair at select retailers later this month.

Nike Brings The Mini Swoosh To The Air Max 1 Ultra Moire

Nike’s Ultra Moire outsole tooling has always been the perfect combination of old and new, as the lightweight rendition has updated some of the most timeless silhouettes in the Swoosh’s archives. The latest Nike Air Max 1 Ultra Moire brings back another OG feature as well: the Mini-Swoosh branding on the toe. We’ve seen Nike Sportswear tease the tiny branded stitching on some well-received colorways as of late, and when combined with the Tape and Fuse stylings of this Midnight Navy and Wolf Grey combination, the appearance works just as well. Be sure to check out more photos of this Nike Air Max 1 below and know that this colorway is available from overseas shops like JD Sports today.

Nike Unveils HTM Option On NIKEiD

NIKEiD is about a different kind of exclusivity in that while whatever design one makes for himself is truly unique and close to a “one of one” as one could get, the option to purchase it is nearly infinite. HTM of course is all about that “limited” mystique, but in an unprecedented move, Nike just released the Air Max 1, Air Max 95, and Flyknit Air Max with special edition HTM options. Granted, none of the three silhouettes exist as HTM collaborations and each respective model pertains to one of the three designers, so it looks like there is no opportunity to re-create a classic. Head to NIKEiD to make your own and share your designs on social media with hashtag #SneakerNews.

Not sure why Nike is releasing the Air Max 2009 again but I guess there must be some kind of demand for the shoe. I’m personally not a fan of the silhouette so I don’t plan on picking up a pair.
