Nike Made A Special Cleat Version Of The Nike Kyrie 2 Doernbecher For Andy Grass

Yesterday it was unveiled that the Nike Kyrie 2 is a part of this year’s Doernbecher Freestyle Collection.

Andy Grass, who designed the shoe, is an 11-year old who was critically injured when a wave rolled a log over him on the beach. He suffered two collapsed lungs, but miraculously managed to overcome it all. It turns out that not only did he get to design his own colorway of the Kyrie 2, but Nike also made him and his entire baseball team a special cleat version of the Kyrie 2 Doernbecher. The shoe features a reconstructed leather upper with a cleat plate replacing the standard tooling set.

Below is a video that shows a closer look at the special cleat version of the Nike Kyrie 2 Doernbecher as well as an interview with the designer of the shoe, Andy Grass, courtesy of heskicks.

Our First Official Look At The Nike Kyrie 2 Doernbecher By Andy Grass

Nike Kyrie 2 Doernbecher 1 Nike Kyrie 2 Doernbecher 2 Nike Kyrie 2 Doernbecher 3 Nike Kyrie 2 Doernbecher 4

This year, Nike decided to add the Nike Kyrie line on to the Doerbecher collection. The Nike Kyrie 2 is paired up with a special kid named Andy Grass. Let’s take a closer look at the Nike Kyrie 2 Doernbecher By Andy Grass.

Andy is an 11-year old who was critically injured when a wave rolled a log over him on the beach. He suffered two collapsed lungs, but miraculously managed to overcome it all. He’s had to endure a long journey to get where he’s at today, but at the end of the day, he’s still a winner!

Andy said that the Nike Kyrie 2 Doernbecher was made as a tribute to those who have helped him get better along the way. Notable features on the shoe include the word “Joy” noted inside the Nike Swoosh placed on the midsole. He chose this word as a tribute to his late Aunt Peggy, who battled breast cancer while he was recovering. He also pays tribute to his mom on the underside of the cross-strap. The hits of Blue represent his favorite baseball and football teams, while the logo on the tongue which shows a human-like lion standing over a log, is meant to represent the fact that nothing could keep him down. The Nike Kyrie 2 Doernbecher By Andy Grass will be releasing on Saturday, December 17th for $120.

The bold looking Nike Air Huarache Run Ultra you see above was created by Braylin Soon, and is also a part of the upcoming Doernbecher collection. Let’s take a closer look at both Braylin and the shoe.

Brayline decided to pay homage to one of her favorite from the big screen, none other than Kermit the Frog. She does this by covering the entire base of the Huarache Ultra in a bright Green hue. Hits of teal on the branding and heel cage provide some nice contrast on the upper. Although the upper is bold and bright, that is not the most noteworthy feature on the shoe. That award belongs to the six star cutouts placed along the cage, which represent her donor, a young girl who passed away at the age of six. A beautiful way to pay her respects to a special little girl in here life. The Nike Air Huarache Run Ultra Doernbecher By Braylin Soon releases Saturday, December 17 for $115.

As most of you know, the entire upcoming Doernbecher was officially unveiled yesterday. A total of 6 shoes were on display and one of those was the Nike SB Stefan Janoski Max Doernbecher created Corwin Carr.

Corwin Carr is 12 year old. One of his dreams is to someday be able to get his very own pilot’s license. Being that he has a passion for planes and aviation, he brought that theme to life on his Nike SB Stefan Janoski Max Doernbecher creation. This special version of the Nike SB Stefan Janoski Max starts off with shades of Blue done in gradient fashion that cover the entire mesh and suede construction. If you take a look at the toe, you will find a jumbo jet done in white that goes along nicely with the theme. Inside the shoe you will find a map of the world taking care of the interior. The laces have the same print/pattern you will find at Portland’s famous airport carpet. He even had the chance to add his very own pilot wings logo surrounded by 40 feathers on the tongue. The 40 feathers represent that number of surgeries he has had to endure ever since he was diagnosed with utero with prune belly and VATER syndrome, a rare condition that can affect the spine, heart, digestive system, kidneys and more.

The Nike Stefan Janoski Max Doernbecher By Corwin Carr along with his matching apparel will be releasing on Saturday, December 17th for the retail price of $125.
