Moldy Jordans Are A Problem Again As Nike Ships Defective Product

air-jordan-13-og-true-red-moldy-shipments

Moldy Jordan retros are back in the news. You might remember a few years back the Air Jordan 1 KO came with jokes of ‘moldy bred’ as the classic canvas sneaker was delayed due to defects in Jordan Brand’s shipping containers leading to mold spores on the retros. Now an unhappy Jumpman fan took to Instagram after a lack of customer service help to explain his similar situation – his sought after Air Jordan 13 OG “True Red” pair finally arrived in the mail, only to be absolutely destroyed due to the same problem. Check out the photos below and let us know if you’ve received a pair with a similar problem.

The Secret Behind The Numbers On The Nike PG 1 Shining

We’ve covered almost all the details of the Nike PG 1 in our interview with Nike designer Tony Hardman, who designed his first-ever Nike signature basketball shoe for Paul George. There’s one last feature specific to tomorrow’s “Shining” colorway that you might be wondering about, and it’s finally been uncovered.

First off, the first eight digits are consistent on all pairs of the Nike PG 1 “Shining”. 661 is the area code for Paul’s hometown of Palmdale, CA, 90 represents his birth year of 1990, and 317 is the area code of Bankers Life Fieldhouse, the home arena for the Pacers.

The second batch of digits, however, is different on every single pair, because the individually number all 12,000 pairs of the shoes. Think of how painstaking it was for Nike to individually number all 12,000 pairs of the shoes and you’ll appreciate this shoe release even more. Some pairs are numbered above 12,000, but Nike confirms that there are exactly 12,000 pairs releasing to the public.

The Nike PG 1 “Shining” releases tomorrow exclusively on Nike.com and Nike SNKRS for $110.

200 Pairs Of The VLONE x Nike Air Force 1 Releasing In London

A$AP Bari’s VLONE imprint made a huge splash with their Air Force 1 collaboration during NYFW, bringing the classic street-ready basketball shoe back to the “Uptown” section of New York City. As expected, NikeLab and VLONE are not making these exclusive to NYC; A$AP Bari took to Twitter to confirm a limited 200-pair release in London (likely NikeLab 1948), so there’s a chance the must-have AF1 release of 2017 could pop up in other cities.

Currently the VLONE x Air Force 1 fetches around $2,000 on secondary market shopping platforms like eBay and Stadium Goods.

Buy, Pass, Wait: adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Zebra, Air Jordan 12 Low Playoffs, Nike PG 1

It gets mad real for Paul George this weekend. After years of waiting in the wings and watching other NBA stars get their signature shoes before he got his turn, the Pacers All-Star’s time is now with the release of the Nike PG 1 Shining colorway. With plenty of great pre-release buzz, George is ready take on the mantle that Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving once occupied as the affordable Nike Basketball signature sneaker star.

As for the rest of the weekend in kicks, it’s far from cheap since we’ve got a new Yeezy Boost on the way, a pair of Air Jordan retros and much more. We also pine for what pair from March’s Air Max Day collection that we are looking forward to the most in this edition of Buy, Pass, Wait.

adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Zebra

adidas

Juan Martinez, Editor-In-Chief: (PASS) So in the animal-based Yeezy Boost coorway power rankings, Beluga/Whales still sits at the top over everything else. Sorry, Zebras….

Juan Carrillo, News: (PASS) Unless there’s an option for “Buy to Sell”. I don’t like Yeezys but I’m glad to see this one is not another “Black/insert color here” colorway. It’s a decent look, but not for me. Heard they were going to be more limited than the recent Yeezy drops. Good luck getting a pair.

Andres Carrillo, News: (PASS) Probably the best colorway of the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 so far in my opinion, but it looks like it’s gonna be close to impossible to pick up a pair. Good thing I wasn’t planning on it anyway. adidas needs to make more eye-catching colorway like this.

Nike PG 1 Shining

Nike

EIC Juan: (BUY) Look, sneaker culture is crazy and you know why? $110 can be considered an impulse purchase. Even though we’re all waiting for the 2K colorway, I might just buy these just because. Yes, I can justify a $110 purchase as a “just because”. We are out of our damn minds.

News Juan: (WAIT) I know, shocker. I’ve been waiting on this day for a few years now, and now that it’s finally here, it’s pretty surreal as a Pacers fan. Notice I said “Pacers” fan. With that being said, I really hope George is not wearing another team’s jersey by the time this post goes live. This colorway is nice, but I’d like to try on the PG 1 first before I end up purchasing a pair. The 2K colorway is nice too. So much to choose from. Must. Maintain. Composure.

Andres: (PASS) I won’t really be able to judge the PG 1 until I see it in person, but this colorway doesn’t catch my attention. I’ll wait until the 2K pair to drop to check them out in person.

Air Jordan 8 Alternate

EIC Juan: (PASS) Hold on, these aren’t the Bugs Bunny 8s? Could have fooled me. Actually, it did for a few minutes. Eh, I already have the Bugs, I don’t need to feel like an idiot when these two are next to each other and can’t tell the difference.

News Juan: (PASS) Not a fan of the 8s whatsoever. This colorway is pretty boring in my opinion. Don’t know what else to say.

Andres: (PASS) I’m not a fan of Jordan 8s, but this is a clean colorway. It’s hard to mess up a Jordan retro when you cover it in a Bulls colorway. These will probably sit like most other recent retros, but that doesn’t mean they’re not nice.

Air Jordan 12 Playoffs

Nike

EIC Juan: (BUY) I wrote an entire piece about staring at the digital version of these in order to convince myself to buy them. What do you think?

News Juan: (PASS) I would regret picking these up only to find out that Jordan Brand has plans on re-releasing the Air Jordan 12 Playoffs in the near future. That’s not a risk I’m willing to take. I’d rather just wait for those to drop unless I can find these for a super-steal (under $100) down the line.

Andres: (PASS) Oh how I wish this was the original mid/high top version. If it was I would have copped without thinking. I guess I’ll just continue wait. I’m not going to settle.

The Nike Air Max Day Sneaker I Want The Most Is:

Nike

EIC Juan: I want them all, but in the interest of this exercise, I’m going with the re-release of the Atmos Nike Air Max 1. Even if there are slight variations on the original, I can live with that because I adore the color scheme. And if the rumored companion Air Jordan 3 pair turns out to be legit (I have my doubts but who knows?), all the better for me.

News Juan: All of them? I really like several pairs. It’s hard to choose just one. So I’m just going to give you a list of all the pairs I want in the order I want them in.

  • Nike Air Max 1 Atmos
  • Nike Air Max 90 Flyknit (Infrared)
  • Nike Air Max 1 Anniversary
  • Nike Air VaporMax.

Damn, my pockets are in trouble.

Andres: I NEED that Atmos Air Max 1. The elephant print combined with the teal accents give it that perfect pop. I might also need to pick up the OG Air Max 1 in red and/or blue. I have no idea how limited they’ll be though, so I’m not gonna get my hopes up too high.

The All-New Nike Air Max Jewell Releases In March

This March, the month-long celebration of Air Max will bring forth the VaporMax sneaker, one of the most highly anticipated new sneakers in recent memory. Also dropping is the womens-exclusive Air Max Jewell, a unibody mesh-based sneaker partly inspired by 1998’s Air Max TN (aka the Air Max Plus). This new shoe drops on March 8th for a friendly $100 on Nike SNKRS and Nike.com; expect more colorways to come as well as we near Air Max Day on March 26th.

Nike Is Bringing Back The Classic Nike Killshot

Nike is bringing back the classic Nike Killshot, and they will do so faster than you think. Although the shoe has released every now and then (by J.Crew), even they haven’t released the classic model for quite some time now. Now that Nike has decided to bring it back, it’s no surprise that the first retailer to carry the shoe is none other than Killshot.

J.Crew has announced the re-release of the Killshot and the first colorway of the low-top has it come with a leather and suede upper done in White, Grey and Navy. Below you will find a sole unit done entirely in gum fashion. The Nike Killshot will officially go on pre-sale in a limited quantity of 50 each on February 25 at both J.Crew?s Soho location in NYC and Grove location in L.A, but you can also expect the shoe to arrive at J.Crew?s official site and at select J.Crew stores beginning March 1 for $90. Are you excited to see this model making a return?
