Nike Honors Sir Elton John With Special Air Force 1 Jet

Sir Elton John may be unmatched when it comes to getting the royal treatment from Nike in the form of SMUs. The legendary musician received several special make-ups of the Cortez, Daybreak, and Tailwind back in the 1970s, and today Nike reveals an Air Force 1 “Jet” made just for the cultural icon. This unique Air Force 1 is inspired by a British Knight’s Armor as well as a disco ball, which combines Elton John’s status as a knight and his influence on music.

The special tongue label as well as the rainbow gradient on the sole represents Nike’s BE TRUE message, which promotes diversity, inclusion, and most importantly, equal rights for all. This Air Force 1 is a special gift to Elton and will not release to the public.

Nike Creates First Performance Hijab

Nike has made a huge announcement as they have unveiled their first performance hijab. For those of you that are not familiar with what a hijab is, it’s a head covering worn in public by some Muslim women that is attached to religion.

Nike had this to say about their Pro Hijab, ?The Nike Pro Hijab may have been more than a year in the making, but its impetus can be traced much further back, to an ongoing cultural shift that has seen more women than ever embracing sport.?

The purpose of Nike?s Pro Hijab is to make workouts easier for Muslim female athletes. The Nike Pro Hijab is set to hit retail during Spring ?18.

adidas Stock Is Crushing Nike And Under Armour And Its Not Even Close

adidas has been flourishing mightily over the last year all thanks to the success of their classic and new product. Stan Smiths and Superstars have been holding down the fort on the retro front, while dazzling new icons like the adidas Ultra Boost and NMD shoes have become fixtures in casual wear and the fastidious sneaker culture. While Kanye West’s name will never be mentioned by data analysts simply due to the lower production number of his shoes, the one known as Yeezy brought with him the droves of fans who are far more style-conscious than the average consumer. All this has led to adidas’ stock rising 67% over the last year, according to Yahoo! Finance (via @readdanwrite).

Meanwhile, Nike’s stock has remained relatively stagnant over the last twelve months, experiencing an overall 4% decrease since last March. However, the Swoosh brand remains optimistic because of the continuing success of its robust retro catalog and promising new innovations like the Vapormax and the self-lacing technology called E.A.R.L., which first surfaced with last year’s HyperAdapt 1.0.

Under Armour has failed to re-capture the success from 2015; they still remain a one-trick pony in Steph Curry, and right now their lone pillar is standing on shaky legs. Outside of the Curry line, there’s nothing to write home about (on the footwear front), and that notion is reflected in a shocking 57% decrease in stock value over the last year. Sad to say, but a Cavs-like comeback doesn’t seem to be in the stars.

Despite these numbers, Nike is still in the lead by a wide margin. As of today, Nike’s worth is at $93 Billion, which is more than double what adidas’ current worth is ($37.2 Billion). Under Armour is far behind at $7.9 Billion.

Up Close With The Nike Zoom VaporFly Elite

The race for the first ever sub-2 hour marathon time is on. adidas and Nike have both previewed new models featuring some of their most advanced lightweight technology to date in an effort to help some of the best runners in the world run the 26.2 miles in under 2 hours. Nike debuted the Nike Zoom VaporFly Elite yesterday, as the sleek concept silhouette redefines speed thanks to a ‘more is more’ mantra that sees a 21mm thick ZoomX midsole unit paired with an updated Flyknit upper for a dynamic profile tailor made for each individual’s foot.

The process of creating this head-turning model featured tireless experimentation and data analysis regarding the anatomy of the human foot paired with new ideas that have never been found on marathon-centric models. Instead of a closer-to-the-ground feel, they bolstered the midsole with a thicker construction and hidden unidirectional carbon fiber plates, included to help combat foot fatigue. For more of the technical specifications read up on the VaporFly Elite’s debut here.

Today we get an updated look at the Nike VaporFly Elite and its dynamic colorway featuring a light blue Flyknit construction, a bold oversized Swoosh that extends to the Flyknit Racer-esque midsole, and more. This early wear-test sample was recently previewed on Instagram alongside the future of Nike Running’s latest Zoom-cushioned trio known as the Nike Breaking2 Footwear Collection. Check out more photos below.

Nike Running Introduces A New Era Of Speed With 3 New Models

Fresh off the heels of the announcement of the Zoom Vaporfly Elite concept shoe for the Breaking2 project, Nike Running introduces three more models to usher in the brand’s new era of speed. Highly influenced by the Vaporfly Elite that Nike hopes will help one of their elite marathon athletes break the 2-hour marathon barrier, Zoom Vaporfly 4% and Zoom Fly feature similar designs designed to be the fastest Nike racing shoes yet. Today Nike also unveils the next chapter of the Pegasus franchise, the all-new Zoom Pegasus 34.

The Zoom Vaporfly 4% leads the pack for the trio of new runners, which also features ZoomX cushioning and a carbon fiber plate like the Vaporfly Elite. Said to be 4% more efficient than Nike’s previous fastest marathon shoe, the Vaporfly 4% is built with a light and ultra breathable Flymesh that sits atop the ZoomX sole designed to cushion and return energy with every stride. The final result is the ultimate marathon shoe whether you’re and elite athlete or somebody completing their first race ever.

The Zoom Fly takes the same principles of the Vaporfly Elite and applies them to a shoe that’s fast enough for race day and simultaneously durable enough for everyday training. The Zoom Fly combines Lunarlon and Zoom Air cushioning with an embedded full-length carbon-infused nylon plate to increase stiffness for support. A 10mm offset minimizes Achilles strain while the thick midsole provides impact protection mile after mile.

The legendary Pegasus series continues with its 34th iteration, once again utilizing Zoom Air units in the forefoot and heel that combine with Cushlon foam for the versatile performance the line is known for. Up top, the shoe features a complete redesign in Flymesh with translucent monofilament yarn embedded within for lightweight durability.

The Zoom Vaporfly 4%, Zoom Fly, And Zoom Pegasus 34 in men’s and women’s sizing all release on June 8th, 2017.
