The Nike Air VaporMax Is The New Age Of Air

NIKE AIR VAPORMAX 2 NIKE AIR VAPORMAX 3 NIKE AIR VAPORMAX 1 NIKE AIR VAPORMAX 4

The Nike Air Max line began back in 1987 with the creation and debut of the Nike Air Max 1. Now almost 30 years later continues to create new Air Max silhouettes with their newest creation being the Nike Air VaporMax that provides lightweight, consistent cushioning that lasts.

Here is how Nike explains the fruition of the Air VaporMax.

“The breakthrough came courtesy of new technologies that allow the Nike VaporMax Air unit to act as a standalone outsole. Where previous Air units had to be insulated by a secondary rubber layer for protection and improved durability, new innovation allows designers to incorporate the Air and exterior layer into one holistic VaporMax Air unit. And where previous units needed to be shaped with inflexible structural areas, the new unit can independently maintain its given form, with elasticity.

The former innovation allows additional Air to be integrated into the unit while the latter allows for more extreme Air geometries that enable designers to place even more Air directly underfoot. Together, these capabilities wholly eliminate the need for a traditional foam midsole.

By shedding the weight and bulk of a foam layer, the new midsole achieves greater flexibility and spring without compromising structure, while also reducing weight and waste. And by placing the upper directly on the VaporMax Air unit, a pillowy sensation and greater energy response are produced.”

The Nike Big Swoosh Can Be Worn With Ease

Nike Big Swoosh 1 Nike Big Swoosh 2 Nike Big Swoosh 3

Back in September we got our first look at the Nike Big Swoosh. This new silhouette from Nike features a one piece mesh upper and a larger than life Swoosh by the ankle.

For those of you that liked the shoe when you first saw it you’ll be happy to know that it is now available at select retailers. Up above we see the Nike Big Swoosh in a new black and white colorway. Black dominates the upper including the mesh paneling, midsole, inner liner, and outsole while contrasting hits of white cover the Nike branding on the upper and parts of the Air Max2 CB 94 sole unit.

If anyone is interested in picking up a pair you may be able to find them at your local Nike retailers now for $120.

Author’s Take

The Air Max2 CB 94 sole unit definitely gives this shoe that retro look but I don’t like the one piece mesh upper. Kind of looks like a shoe for kids. These are a pass for me.

Speed Is The Main Focus Of The New Nike Mercurial Superfly

NIKE MERCURIAL SUPERFLY 1 NIKE MERCURIAL SUPERFLY 5 NIKE MERCURIAL SUPERFLY 6 NIKE MERCURIAL SUPERFLY 7 NIKE MERCURIAL SUPERFLY 8 NIKE MERCURIAL SUPERFLY 9 NIKE MERCURIAL SUPERFLY 2 NIKE MERCURIAL SUPERFLY 3 NIKE MERCURIAL SUPERFLY 4

When you see, think about or put on the new Nike Mercurial Superfly, Nike wants you to think one thing: speed. Every component of this new soccer cleat was created to work in concert towards the singular goal of unleashing a player?s full speed potential.

As Nike puts is, the goal of this cleat was to unleash a player?s full speed potential. One of the first big changes that Nike made to the Mercurial Superfly was with the sole. Previously they had been working with a flat sole plate, but the human foot is not flat. The new anatomical Nike plate maps the natural contours of the foot, eliminating the gap that previously existed underfoot. By cradling the foot, it enables the foot to move with the boot instead of against it. The new Mercurial soleplate is also 40% lighter than the carbon fiber plate it replaces, yet it is stronger and more responsive.

The new Nike Mercurial Superfly and Mercurial Vapor will be available June 2 on Nike.com. If you’d like to learn more you can click here.

Pretty cool if you’re a fan of HTM. My favorite model of the 3 is definitely the Air Max 2014, so if I were to create a pair it’s be with the aesthetics of Parker.

The Nike Hyperdunk 2016 Is Better Than Ever

NIKE HYPERDUNK 2016 1 NIKE HYPERDUNK 2016 2 NIKE HYPERDUNK 2016 3

Initially introduced back in 2008 during the Beijing Olympics, the Nike Hyperdunk is now being unveiled in a striking technical and stylistic evolution ahead of summer competition in Rio.

Today Nike officially introduced the Nike Hyperdunk 2016 which combines an ultra-high Nike Flyknit upper with an enhanced, precisely positioned full-length Zoom Air unit. Along with extending the collar, Nike designer Leo Chang paired targeted zones with Nike Flywire cables for lock-down support, dynamic stretch and breathability. The new Zoom unit has also been placed directly underneath the foot in which a hollow core between the unit and the outsole is created, resulting in an unmatched snap-back, trampoline effect. Other features of the Nike Hyperdunk 2016 include advanced herringbone traction and a supportive heel counter.

The Nike Hyperdunk 2016 will be available globally beginning in July in an elite Flyknit version (pictured above) as well as high- and low-top versions with engineered mesh uppers. Will you be grabbing a pair?

via: Nike

Author’s Take

The elite Flyknit version that we see above reminds me of a combination of the Kobe 9 Elite (upper) and the Kyrie 2 (midsole). It’s a good look but the only thing I’m not a huge fan of is the extended collar.

The NikeLab Air Zoom Talaria Is Now Available In NYC!

The Nike Air Talaria is a classic Nike sneaker that initially released back in 1997. Many Nike enthusiasts wished that Nike retroed this sneaker way back in the early 2000s. Unfortunately, they never did. Close to 20 years later, Nike finally decided to please the masses.

The Nike running shoe was recently spotted at NikeLab Mercer in original form for the first time since 1997. Right in the center of the picture you will find the neon yellow colorway contrasted by the white hits placed all over the shoe. The shoe was said to be returning on March 31st but it looks like NikeLab Mercer got their shipment a few weeks early. So if you’re in New York and you’re also in need for a new pair of the NikeLab Air Zoom Talaria, head on over now!

Author’s Take

Not really sure how these will do in the market. I don’t see it as a shoe people would rock casually in 2016, and if you want a runner there’s probably better options out there. I guess we will have to wait and see.

The Nike Free RN Motion Flyknit Offers The Most Natural Ride Yet On A Nike Runner

Nike has taken their Free technology that debuted back in 2001 and given it a new look and feel with the Nike Free RN Motion Flyknit. Nike designers developed an auxetic, or splaying, midsole thanks to their studies that reveal how the foot expands and contracts upon impact with and liftoff from the ground.

In order to create this new tooling system, the designers at Nike employed a new dual-injection technology. Using heat, instead of glue, they fused two foams into one piece that still features an IU foam carrier and soft IP core but introduces more cushioning than past Nike Free models. The result is the new Nike Free RN Motion Flyknit which delivers the most natural ride yet on any of Nike’s Free Flyknit sneakers. Stay tuned to Kicks On Fire to find out when we’ll see the release of the Nike Free RN Motion Flyknit.

Nike Is Evolving The Sock Game With NikeGRIP

NIKEGRIP 1 NIKEGRIP 2 NIKEGRIP 3 NIKEGRIP 4 NIKEGRIP 5 NIKEGRIP 6 NIKEGRIP 7 NIKEGRIP 8 NIKEGRIP 9 NIKEGRIP 10 NIKEGRIP 11

Nike’s innovations today were definitely centered around their footwear, but that’s not all they had to offer. They also unveiled something called NikeGRIP, an anti-slip solution that considers both the inside and outside of a sock to maximize grip, ultimately improving an athlete?s traction and confidence.

Nike has created a new sock that prevents slippage inside and outside of the sock to create a unique solution for athletes. The did this by using a new ultrafine polyester fiber that creates more contact points with the foot and shoe than one fiber alone. Twisting the nanofiber with traditional fibers used in sock manufacturing, therefore, creates the ultimate sock fiber. Thanks to wear-testing data, the team over at Nike identified the big toe and the heel as areas of importance of where they needed to eliminate or add more fabric depending on the athlete.  From there, NikeGRIP works in concert with Nike shoe insoles to ultimately boost an athlete?s purchase, and poise.

Nike Makes Power Lacing A Reality With The Nike HyperAdapt 1.0

NIKE HYPERADAPT 1.0 1 NIKE HYPERADAPT 1.0 2 NIKE HYPERADAPT 1.0 3 NIKE HYPERADAPT 1.0 4 NIKE HYPERADAPT 1.0 5 NIKE HYPERADAPT 1.0 6

Nike continues to innovate in ways that we only thought could be imagined. Nike has taken center stage today by introducing a plethora of new technological innovations that they have created for 2016. One of the biggest is the new Nike HyperAdapt 1.0.

The Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 will be the first performance shoe designed by Nike that features their new adaptive lacing, or as we know it power lacing. The shoe was created with deep research in digital, electrical and mechanical engineering. Tiffany Beers, Senior Innovator, NIKE, Inc. explains how the shoe works,

?When you step in, your heel will hit a sensor and the system will automatically tighten, Then there are two buttons on the side to tighten and loosen. You can adjust it until it?s perfect.?

The Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 was created and designed by Beers, Tinker Hatfield and Mark Parker. Tiffany Beers was also a major component in creating the power lacing 2016 Nike Mag that was unveiled last year and that is expected to release some time this Spring.

You can look for the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 beginning Holiday 2016 in three colors and it will be available ONLY to members of Nike+.

Author’s Take

I never thought I would see a shoe that ties completely on its own in my lifetime. While the shoe isn’t the most stylish out there. It opens the door for endless possibilities in the future. Great work by Nike.

The Nike Air More Uptempo Makes Its Return In April

NIKE AIR MORE UPTEMPO OG 1 NIKE AIR MORE UPTEMPO OG 2 NIKE AIR MORE UPTEMPO OG 3 NIKE AIR MORE UPTEMPO OG 4 NIKE AIR MORE UPTEMPO OG 5

The Nike Air More Uptempo specifically in this colorway is a classic and timeless Nike basketball model from the 1990s. The second I see this shoe it reminds me of my dope adolescence when there were no bills to pay and all I had to worry about was getting good grades in school and passing the hardest level and Super Mario 64. Good times. The shoe you see above released back in 1996, 20 years later Nike has decided to bring back the shoe that came with branding that’s larger than life.

The original colorway of the Air More Uptempo will make a return next month as the predominantly black sneaker is contrasted by the white accents found throughout the shoe, most notable on the outline of the huge “AIR” branding placed on the side panels. A large Nike Swoosh also appears on the heel to give it even more of a bold outlook. The visible air is seen on the black sole unit to complete the look of the shoe. Dropping April 16th, are you happy to see this classic make a return?

via: sivadescalzo

Author’s Take

I was 11 when this shoe came out, but I still have good recollection of the times when these released. Although I wasn’t into sneakers back then, it still gives me nostalgia seeing them make a return.

The Nike Air Max 1 Ultra Moire Rocks The Mini Swoosh Too

Nike AIR MAX 1 ULTRA MOIRE 1 Nike AIR MAX 1 ULTRA MOIRE 2 Nike AIR MAX 1 ULTRA MOIRE 3 Nike AIR MAX 1 ULTRA MOIRE 4 Nike AIR MAX 1 ULTRA MOIRE 5

The classic mini Swoosh branding made a return this year as a couple of Air Max releases have already donned that look. The latest Nike Air Max 1 Ultra Moire offering also looks to get in the mix as it rocks the mini Swoosh branding as well.

The Ultra Moire version of the AM1 manages to keep the same structure of the AM1 but at the same time makes it more lightweight by utilizing some updated features. Adding an OG feel to the shoe is the addition of the mini Swoosh branding placed on the side of the toe. As you can see, the Ultra Moire differentiateds itself by coming constructed out of mesh and tape and fuse detailing. This particular colorway comes in a Midnight Navy and Wolf Grey colorway accented by the teal hits placed on the branding, eyelets and outsole. The shoe is completed by sitting on top of a white midsole. Available now internationally expect these to arrive stateside in the near future.

via: JD Sports

Author’s Take

The mini Swoosh is cool, but I’d much rather have it on the OG Air Max 1. It kind of looks cheap painted on the fuse detailing.

Allyson Felix Hopes To Achieve Success In Rio With The Nike Zoom Superfly Flyknit

NIKE ZOOM SUPERFLY FLYKNIT 1 NIKE ZOOM SUPERFLY FLYKNIT 2 NIKE ZOOM SUPERFLY FLYKNIT 3 NIKE ZOOM SUPERFLY FLYKNIT 4

Gold-medal-winning American sprinter Allyson Felix is gearing up for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio and wnats to make sure that she repeats her success from 2012. In order to do this she linked up with Nike to create the new Nike Zoom Superfly Flyknit.

The new spike cleat was created specifically for Felix?s size 9.5, AA-width feet. The spike?s plate was also developed to align with Felix?s stiffness preference, a balance of flexibility and pop made possible through 3D print prototyping. Looking at the Zoom Superfly Flyknit,  the Flyknit upper perfectly complements the plate?s advances by reducing volume and weight and, for the first time in a sprint spike, extending to three-quarter height, which supports a larger potion of the foot to facilitate fluidity in motion.

?One of the things that I love about the process is that I’m not an expert in this, but I have all this science behind me. This is what [Nike] does and this is what they’re passionate about,? says Felix. ?I can have confidence that they’re going to give me the best equipment.?

The new spike cleat wasn’t created overnight though. Felix met with the Nike team over a dozen times and 30 versions of spike?s plate were produced and the Flyknit upper was tweaked over 70 times before the team felt secure they?d landed on Felix?s pinnacle personalized solution.

We look forward to seeing Felix use the cleat this Summer and hopefully perform well in them.

Nike Mag (2016)

Release Date: 2016
Price: Auction for Michael J. Fox Foundation

First seen in Back To The Future Part II, the Nike Air Mag is a true pop culture icon. Designed by Tinker Hatfield and worn by Marty McFly when he traveled to the future, the shoe was a look into where Hatfield and this team – which including current Nike CEO Mark Parker – felt sneaker design was headed in 2015. Featuring LED panels, a electroluminescent NIKE on the strap and power lacing, the shoe – sans power lacing – released in limited quantities in 2011 for the Michael J. Fox Foundation. It was the realization of the shoe that was once called “the greatest shoe never made.” The shoe – now with power lacing – made its return on October 21, 2015, the day Marty McFly traveled to the future. Michael J. Fox received the first pair courtesy of Tinker Hatfield and Nike. Additional pairs will be available via auction in 2016 with proceeds going to Fox’s foundation.

Author’s Takes:

Juan Martinez (Editor-In-Chief): My nostalgia was never for the Nike Air Mag, but rather for the Mattel hoverboard. I will buy a pair if it’s available to me only if it has power lacing. And even then I’ll only wear them when hoverboards become a real thing and not just something Lexus made to mess with our minds. I’ll wait until I’m 70 if I have to before I undeadstock them.

Quick Take: The Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 Is The Evolution Of The Nike Mag (And FlyEase)

The first thing that came to mind when I saw the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 being revealed was “what does it sound like?” Well, thankfully Cristiano Ronaldo was around to answer that question for me.

Huh, that sounds awfully familiar. Even the light reminds me of something I saw a few months ago. Hey, wait a minute…

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the HyperAdapt and the Nike Mag have a lot in common. Anybody that is fortunate rich enough to own a pair of both this year will probably see that the machinations of the shoe are one and the same. The difference is that while the Mag will feel antiquated – but still cool in a retro sort of way – the HyperAdapt will look and feel what we thought 2015 and 2016 would look and feel like in 1989 when we saw Back To The Future Part 2 for the first time. The future really is here now.

NIKE HYPERADAPT 1.0 1 NIKE HYPERADAPT 1.0 5 NIKE HYPERADAPT 1.0 2 NIKE HYPERADAPT 1.0 3 NIKE HYPERADAPT 1.0 6 NIKE HYPERADAPT 1.0 4

Nike HyperAdapt Mag FlyEase LeadBut another thought also crossed my mind when I saw the HyperAdapt. I thought about somebody very close to me who struggles to tie their shoes. I thought about Matthew Waltzer, the inspiration for the Nike LeBron Soldier 8 FlyEase, our 2015 Sneaker of the Year winner. I thought about the millions of people out there who suffer from life-altering ailments that prevent them from doing the simple things in life that we take for granted like tying shoes. Maybe they don’t need the zipper collar of the FlyEase to put on a pair of shoes but they need assistance in tying them. The HyperAdapt is another tool that has implications that reaches far beyond our needs as athletes or as sneakerheads. It can changes lives. So debuting it on a grand stage like today was very important.

There are people who like to bemoan things like the Nike Innovation Summit. They don’t understand what the deal is and just want to see new shoes that look like old shoes. Well, this show isn’t for them; it’s for the rest of the world to see that the swoosh are doing things that can help people. Yes, Nike is a business first and foremost, but maybe somebody watching at home sees that there is hope for those in their lives that have disabilities or maybe they become inspired to do take the HyperAdapat and make it better. It’s not always about the product but the spark that results from seeing that product. That’s the power of the Nike platform that honestly no other brand in the world has. I don’t need to be there to know that it has already changed our lives even though Nike isn’t dropping the shoes until later this year.
