Complete Guide To The Air Jordan 6 Black Cat Release

Jordan Brand’s retro release slate is coming to a close with a couple more major releases before the end of 2016. Not only are we going to get a premium Air Jordan 11 Suede, but a new colorway of the Air Jordan 6 featuring a luxurious leather upper with additional micro-perforations and touches of 3M is headed to retailers on December 30th, 2016. We’re talking about the coveted Air Jordan 6 “Black Cat” of course, as Mike’s 1991 signature model gets a lifestyle overhaul thanks to a black on black upper, bold new ventilation throughout and touches of 3M to match the last Infrared retro for a bit of traditionalism.

The Air Jordan 6 Black Cat takes that trendy “Triple Black” aesthetic to task as 3M reflective details liven up the laces and ankle support for a hidden flash. Contrasting white midsole stripes are the only non-black touch here to highlight the aggressive wavy lines on this Tinker Hatfield classic. The outsole unit even comes equipped with a new smoky translucence that we’d love to see more often. What do you think of the Air Jordan 6 Black Cat? Be sure to head on over to our always-updated Air Jordan Release Dates page for a look at what’s to come for Jordan Brand in the near future. And if you can’t wait for this Air Jordan 6 pair to drop, know that you can always pick up your size early from eBay and from Stadium Goods.

Air Jordan 31 Supernova Releases On Christmas Eve

The Air Jordan 31 has had an eclectic colorway run to start things off. Not only have we seen patent leather on the “Space Jam” colorway and a bolstered cracked leather for the “Battle Grey” look, but now the latest Jordan signature model is returning to the galaxy for the Air Jordan 31 Supernova on December 24th, 2016 for $185 USD.

The Air Jordan 31 “Supernova” benefits from an Oklahoma City Thunder-esque colorway thanks to a vibrant Concord upper pairing well with a Bright Mango gradient throughout. While we’re unsure if Russell Westbrook will be lacing this pair up on Christmas Day, the triple-double machine has been the proud spokesperson of the Air Jordan 31 throughout the year by rocking a number of notable player exclusives. The midsole gradient returns as well thanks to a metallic finish, allowing for the icy outsole unit now complete with a supernova themed galactic print to truly stand out.

Check out the latest Air Jordan 31 colorway after the break and be sure to stay tuned for more Air Jordan Release Dates right here on Sneaker News.

Black and white accents are implemented throughout to solidify its overall palette, while it’s all adhered atop a full-length white midsole unit and orange outsole to cap off the theme.

Notable design elements include ?Air Jordan? branding on the ankle section in place of the Wings logo, in addition to ?Nike Air? embroidered across its heels.

Air Jordan 7 Doernbecher

Release Date: December 17th, 2016
Price: $190 (Adults), $140 (Kids)

This year, the Air Jordan 7 is the model chosen to represent Jordan Brand in the Doernbecher collection. 10-year old Damien Phillips is the kid who got to create the shoe.

Damian is currently fighting through a hemophilia diagnosis. Throughout this entire time he has shown a tremendous amount of courage, even while at hemophilia camp, where he was awarded the Big Stick Award after learning to administer his own infusions. Damian is a big time fan of the Chicago Bulls, so when he found out he was given the Air Jordan 7 to work on, he was pretty ecstatic about the news. The shoe has a Bulls theme to it as the team’s Black and Red color scheme is placed all over the upper. He also enjoys rock music, which is why he placed the guitar pick on the laces while the heel tab is said to resemble a guitar neck. Lastly, the outsole features an animated graphic of Damien himself rocking out to a power solo. The Air Jordan 7 Doernbecher By Damien Phillips will be releasing on Saturday, December 17th at Nike SNKRS for $190.

Author’s Take

Juan Carrillo, News: I like it. If I had to rank these with all the other Jordan Doernbechers from the past, I’d definitely put these in the top 3. Very clean color scheme and they make good use of the outsole.

Michael Jordan Once Told Rip Hamilton He Wasnt Good Enough To Wear Jordans

USA Today

Not only is Michael Jordan one of the all-time greats (GOAT, perhaps?), but his trash-talking game was also on savage mode. Nobody was safe, not even his teammates, Just ask Rip Hamilton.

NBA Champion, and NBA All-Star, Rip Hamilton recently made an appearance on ESPN?s The Jump basketball talk show. While on the show he discussed his playing time with Michael Jordan as teammates for the Washington Wizards. When Hamilton was just a young buck he would constantly ask Michael if he could be a part of Jordan Brand. Eventually, Michael Jordan decided to let him be a part of #TeamJordan as his game progressed to an all-star level. It wasn’t always like that though. Listen to what Rip Hamilton said next:

But there was also the other side, where there was the talking trash Michael Jordan and at times, me and a couple of the young guys would come up to him and say, ?hey Mike, why don?t you think about putting us in Brand Jordan Collection?? And he would look at me and say, ?hey Rip, my sneakers for All-Stars? and at that time I?m like ?wow, really??

If you’re going to come at Jordan with a question like that (as a Rookie who hadn’t proven himself by any means whatsoever), make sure you come correct or prepare to suffer the consequences. Unfortunately, Hamilton had to learn the hard way. Michael Jordan don’t play no games.

Heres A Good Look At The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Black Perforated

air-jordan-1-perforated-all-black-2017-colorway air-jordan-1-perforated-black-spring-2017

No, these are not the Cyber Monday 1s from last year. They do look very similar, but they do have some difference as well. One of those difference happens to be that this version comes with a heavily perforated upper. Here’s a good look at what is currently known as the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Black Perforated.

This OG-branded version of the Jordan 1 comes in a Black perforated leather upper that results in a new “look” on the silhouette. Another nice feature on the shoe is the leather tongue tag equipped with the Nike Air branding. Tonal laces and Black lining all sit on top of the all-White sole unit. It’s simple but sometimes that’s what we’re looking for in a sneaker, right? Stay tuned as more info on this release begins to surface.

Velvety Goodness On The Air Jordan 11 GS Heiress

air jordan 11 3 air jordan 11 2 air jordan 11 1

Wait, is that velvet on an Air Jordan 11? Yes my friends, yes it is.

Jordan Brand will be breaking the mold this weekend as they’ll be using the buttery soft material on this upcoming grade school colorway of the popular Jordan 11. While the entire upper of the shoe is covered in Night Maroon, velvet makes its way on the mudguard (where we usually see patent leather), while the rest of the upper is done in a soft nubuck leather. Beautiful hits of Metallic Gold then appears on the branding as well as on the aglets for the perfect contrast.

Just like the Space Jam 11s last weekend, you can expect this colorway to sell out pretty quick come Saturday. Retail price will be $220.

The shoe features a black and red upper inspired by his love for the Chicago Bulls and Rock N’ Roll. Some of the finer details of this shoe include lace dubraes that look like guitar picks, gold hits on the midsole and branding, and an icy outsole with a cartoon image of Damien jamming out with a guitar.

The Air Jordan 16 Navy Returns Next Thursday

We’ve officially reached the Retro era for Jordan’s Washington Wizards tenure as the Air Jordan XVI, one of the first Air Jordans to release during MJ’s surprise comeback in the early-mid 2000s, makes a return in the original “Midnight Navy” colorway. Collaborations with Trophy Room and SoleFly paved the way for the return of this golf-inspired shoe (the outsole design mimics a golf green), but now its time for the OG colorways to reclaim the spotlight from the energetic contemporary designs.

The Air Jordan 16 “Midnight Navy” returns for the first time ever on December 22nd on Nike.com and at select Jordan retailers. See the full set of official images below.

Michael Jordan Told Richard Hamilton He Wouldnt Be Good Enough To Play In Air Jordans

rip-hamilton-air-jordan-all-star-michael-jordan-story

Michael Jordan holds the title of the greatest player of all time. Perhaps it was the Detroit Pistons defenses that made him hit the gym extra hard in the off-season before he finally grabbed that first title in 1991, or not making his Varsity squad at Laney High School one year that gave him his determination, but plenty of players have spoken on a not-so-secret aspect of MJ’s storied game: his trash-talking ability. Mike would get in opponents heads all the time on the court, but according to long-time Jordan Brand athlete Richard Hamilton, this even extended to Mike’s own teammates.

On a recent appearance on ESPN’s The Jump basketball talk show, Rip talked about his early years playing with a not-so-happy Michael Jordan on the Washington Wizards. When Hamilton was a rookie, he would frequently ask Michael Jordan about joining the Jumpman, a request that was later fulfilled, but it took some elite play and convincing before that happened. According to Hamilton:

But there was also the other side, where there was the talking trash Michael Jordan and at times, me and a couple of the young guys would come up to him and say, ‘hey Mike, why don’t you think about putting us in Brand Jordan Collection?’ And he would look at me and say, ‘hey Rip, my sneakers for All-Stars’ and at that time I’m like ‘wow, really?’

The story does have a happy ending, though. Although Rip would be traded for an aging Jerry Stackhouse, his time with the Detroit Pistons would lead to an NBA Championship and three NBA All-Star selections. Check out the full video below and stay tuned for more Air Jordan Release Dates right here on Sneaker News.
