ABOUT THE RELEASE: What is Nike’s CO.JP? Nike’s CO.JP (Concept Japan) program ran from the mid-’90s into the ’00s when Nike started to expand its global reach. Nike started releasing Japan-exclusive release that made the rest of the world envious. These releases were the type of sneakers that you had to know somebody that knows somebody in order for you to get your hands on a pair. Nike CO.JP eventually became its own Nike sub-label, which then spread beyond Japan and plant roots in New York, London, Paris and more.

UPDATE (1/2): Nike announces that the Nike Air Force 1 Low Color of The Month “Light Smoke Grey” will release via SNKRS and at select retailers on January 5th for $150.

Got your fave color yet? No worries. The “Color of the Month” series lets you feed your need while celebrating a little-known piece of Nike history?the original Color of the Month series, back in 1984, may have saved the AF1 from extinction. That’s right, a reissue was uncertain in the shoe’s beginning, but sports shops in Baltimore saw them selling like hotcakes and knew the AF1 would become synonymous with street fashion and culture. So, they asked for custom colorways to sell from their storefronts…and the rest is history. From pristine materials (update alert: allover suede) to the Light Smoke Grey colorway and even a shoe-cleaning toothbrush, this edition delivers a lesson in coveted off-court style.
