The Black Sheep x Nike SB Dunk Releases On SNKRS Tomorrow
By SoleInsider
The Nike SB Dunk High gets fierce thanks to a special collaboration with North Carolina skate shop Black Sheep. With an appropriate “Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing” theme, the colorway looks harmless at first with a brushed suede upper in light grey with white, black, and red accents, but once the paint wears of the Swooshes the wolf’s vicious teeth are revealed. If you’re still hunting for a pair after the initial release this past weekend, keep in mind these Dunks with a bite drop this Thursday, January 12th on the Nike SNKRS at 10:00 AM EST. If you’re interested in the version with the special package, see what’s up for grabs on eBay.
If we ever get the opportunity to talk to Paul George about the Nike PG 1, that’s the first question I would ask him. After rising to superstardom in 2013, it seemed inevitable that he was going to be the next player to receive a Nike Basketball signature shoe. He fit into the Nike mold of a signature athlete so well – young, charismatic, athletic, tall – that it was almost unfair how perfect he was for the role. But then an injury in the summer of 2014 derailed those plans and as George recovered, a number of players – including one within Nike – got signature shoes before he did. Nike never tipped their hand to indicate that George would ever get to that place again, so when we saw him rocking the Hyperchase and Hyperdunk after he came back, it felt like maybe the time for a Nike PG 1 had passed by. Good thing it didn’t, as it turns out. So we rounded up the KoF Staff to get their thoughts on the Nike PG 1 and what their expectations are for the shoe and George moving forward.
Juan Carrillo, News: I’ve been an Indiana Pacers fans since the age of 10. Through thick and thin, I’ve stuck with my team. I take pride in being the only Indiana Pacers fan in all of Los Angeles county, haha. From Reggie Miller to Jermaine O’Neal to Danny Granger and now Paul George, they’ve all been the faces of the team as well as my favorite Pacers players. Never in my life did I think a player from my favorite team would ever get their own signature sneaker, let alone with Nike. Sure, Reggie and Jermaine would get PE exclusives of Jordan and Nikes, but nothing compares to having your own signature sneaker. I’m beyond excited, happy and proud to see my favorite player in the NBA get his own signature sneaker. Not only that, but the shoe is actually a good looking sneaker (of course I had to say that, but for real, it really is!). I can already imagine what the the Home and Away colorways will look like, or the moment they hit NIKEiD. The possibilities are endless. Damn.

You know what I find funny, I told myself that I wanted to slow down my sneaker purchases this year, but thinking about all the colorways of the PG1 that will drop this year makes it really hard to stick by my word. I heard Paul George is going to debut the PG 1 in the 2K colorway this week when the Pacers take on the Nuggets in London. It’d be pretty sweet to see my Pacers go for 6 wins in a row all while George posting a 30-8-6 stat line while rocking the PG 1. The PG 1. It still feels surreal saying that. Here’s to Paul George having a PG 2, PG 3, PG 4, PG 5, etc.
Renz Ofiaza, News: At first glance, it reminded me of the Nike SB Trainerendor. Aesthetically, I like the classic grey finish and the streamlined profile. The forefoot strap does add a distinctive character to it, aside from function, but, I don’t think it was that necessary. It would’ve looked fine with or without it. It’s a cool theme too and this is one of its better colorways for sure.
Andres Carrillo, News: I wasn’t sure what to expect from Paul George’s first signature shoe. After seeing the first leaked images a few months back I didn’t really like it, but with the official look I changed my mind completely. In my opinion it’s a real solid looking shoe. I like the materials that were used on the debut “2K” colorway and the small details like the bobber lace lock inspired by his love for fishing and the iridescent Swoosh. I think there’s potential for the shoe to release in some pretty dope colorways. You also gotta love that $110 price tag. Congrats PG!
Juan Martinez, Editor-In-Chief: Because I had to know…
Let’s face reality for a second. Basketball signature shoes have not been living up to expectations as of late. Earlier this decade, there were times when Kobes, LeBrons and KDs were actually hard to find in stores. Now they flood the shelves and sit there waiting to hit clearance prices. It’s a combination of the shoes becoming too good for well, their own good; the tech got better, the prices went up, but the style never adapted to the shifting taste. When the Nike Kyrie 1 dropped it was refreshing to see a Nike Basketball signature priced so affordably and had enough signature touches that few cared it was basically a fancier Hyperfuse. The Kyrie 2 and now the Kyrie 3 are continuing to carry that torch of balancing style and performance at a price most people won’t balk at, but based on what we’ve seen so far, the Nike PG 1 might be the breakthrough we’ve been waiting for. At $110, it’s a stylish and affordable sneaker that will look good on and off the court in the right colorway, like the 2K that will help launch the shoe. It wouldn’t surprise me if these became the most accepted Nike Basketball signature shoe since the Nike Zoom KD 4.

The Utah Jazz seem to have LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and the Cleveland Cavaliers’ number when it comes to increasing the altitude and keeping up with the Western Conference upstarts at Vivint Smart Home Arena. Kyrie may have struggled from the field, going 5 for 18 for 20 points in a loss, but the game was notable for another reason. Kyrie debuted a brand new Kyrie 3 Wolf Grey/Volt PE featuring a drab monochromatic upper accented by vibrant shades on the outsole and tongue branding for a unique twist to his usual Nike Kyrie 3 on-court selections.
