Nike Unveils The 12 Revolutionairs And Their Air Max Designs

For this year’s Air Max Day “Vote Forward” campaign, Nike invited a dozen creatives from all over the world ? dubbed ?Revolutionairs? ? to Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. These artists, designers, DJs, and retailers were tasked with reimagining Nike Air Max styles; the Revolutionair?s shoe with the most votes will have his or her Nike Air model released.

The twelve Revolutionairs are Alexandra Hackett (London), Artemy Lebedev (Moscow), Bunyamin Aydin (Istanbul), Celement Balvoine (Amsterdam), Fabikr (Seoul), Kyle Ng (Los Angeles), Lourdes Villagómez (Mexico City), Naotaka Konno (Tokyo), Sean Wotherspoon (Los Angeles), Shangguan Zhe (Shanghai), Tianzhou Chen (Beijing), and Venus X (New York).

Polls will be open beginning today through March 25th, and the winner will then be announced on March 26th (Air Max Day). The shoe will then release some time in 2018.

Hackett?s shoe combines elements from the Air Max 1, 90, 180, 93, 97, Plus, 360 and 2015.

Lebedev?s shoe pairs the Air Max 97 silhouettes with a blacked-out, reflective upper and a zip-up shroud covering the laces.

BUNYAMIN AYDIN (ISTANBUL)

Aydin?s shoe reflects Eastern cultural history by combining artisanal textures with contemporary digital painting.

CLEMENT BALAVOINE (AMSTERDAM)

Balavoine?s shoe draws inspiration from the upper of the Air Max 90 and the tongue and tooling of the Air Max 97, with additional details like cryptic numbers printed on the airbag.

FABRIKR (SEOUL)

Fabrikr?s shoe is insured by sneakerheads wrapping their shoes in plastic, as well as the morning fog at Nike WHQ. It places transparent material on the upper of the OG Red and White Air Max 1.

KYLE NG (LOS ANGELES)

NG?s Air Max 1 Ultra Flyknit has hand-painted neutral colors an hints of Infrared with a heel that reads, ?Give a Damn? in support of expression and empathy.

NAOTAKA KONNO (TOKYO)

Konno?s shoe combines a Flyknit upper and Air Max 97 airbag with inspiration from Tokyo?s club scene and street culture.

SEAN WOTHERSPOON (LOS ANGELES)

Its Time To Shine For The Nike LeBron 14

Earlier this week we took a look at the “Time To Shine” collection from Nike Basketball for March Madness including clean colorways with iridescent accents for the PG1, Kyrie 3, and KD 9 Elite, and it looks like the LeBron 14 may be joining the squad. Almost an exact match of his teammate’s colorway from the set, LeBron’s fourteenth signature model receives a crisp white with an icy clear outsole and iridescent Swooshes on the midfoot strap. Whether they’re an official part of the “Time To Shine” collection or not, this LeBron 14 will definitely be shining on its own, anyway.

If they are indeed part of the collection, expect them to hit retail with the Kyrie 3 and KD 9 Elite from the “Time to Shine” pack on March 24th. Stay tuned to our Sneaker Release Dates page for a confirmed drop date.

The Nike Air Presto Mid Utility SP Has Some ACRONYM Flair

Did you miss out on the coveted ACRONYM x Nike Air Presto collab? Well, there may be a decent substitute with much better availability and a lower price for you. Those that didn’t just like the ACRONYM collab for the hype should also be a fan of these two latest looks for the standard Air Presto Mid Utility SP, featuring their own ACRONYM-esque looks in black and olive or a colorful tan/magenta/orange color combination. They might not have quite as many bells and whistles as the ACRONYM version, but they’ll be a great consolation prize for all of us that failed to get the limited edition collab. Both of these latest Presto Mid Utility colorways are arriving now at international sneaker shops, so expect them soon here in the US.

Buy, Pass, Wait: Atmos x Air Jordan 3 x Nike Air Max 1, Nike Air Foamposite Pro Silver Surfer

You know why you’re here. You want to know just exactly the Kicks On Fire staff thinks about this weekend’s releases, especially what we think about the highly anticipated Atmos x Air Jordan 3 pack that just so happens to include the return of the winner of last year’s wild Air Max Day Vote Back, the Atmos x Nike Air Max 1 collab. Well, you’ll be pleased to know that we tend to agree with the sneaker community when it comes to the reaction to the included Air Jordan 3. But what about the rest of the weekend’s drops, including the Silver Surfer Foams, a new Jordan retro, a remixed AM1 and a new pair for Damian Lillard? Find out in this edition of Buy, Pass, Wait.

Atmos x Air Jordan 3 x Nike Air Max 1 (Buy The Pack Or Just The AM1)

Nike

Juan Martinez, Editor-In-Chief: (Just The Air Max 1) Between the translucent sole and the nubuck upper, the Air Jordan 3 collab wasn’t what I was hoping for when word got out that this project might actually happen. I’m all about copping the classics to have that history so I hope to be able to secure a pair of the Air Max 1, but I’m really more about creating new classics and the Air Jordan 3 is not in that category.

Renz Ofiaza, News: (BUY As A Pack) The only detail I dislike from this pack is the outsole of the AJ 3. This pack won’t be releasing anytime again soon, so I’m all for acquiring this exclusive set. I’m a sucker for the theme too.

Juan Carrillo, News: (BUY As A Pack) I’m going to reserve my final judgement on the Jordan 3 from the pack until I see them in person. I think it’s one of those shoes that look better the more you look at it. I’m in love with the Air Max 1, but if given the chance to scoop up the pack, why not, right? I can always resell, haha.
Andres: (Just The Air Max 1) I don’t really care for the Jordan 3, but I NEED that Air Max 1. It’s just so beautiful. I don’t care that the individual release doesn’t have the Jumpman on the outsole or the elephant print on the insoles, I just need a pair.

Nike Air Max 1 Ultra 2.0 Air Max Day

Nike

EIC Juan: (BUY) If Nike wants to keep the retro train moving they need the expand the Ultra into all their legacy models. Keep everything on the outside looking as close to the OG as possible at a reasonable price, but trim all the fat on the inside and make them lightweight and comfortable to wear. Basically, all Ultra everything.

Renz: (PASS) The updated tech makes the sneaker more functional, but I still prefer the silhouette in its OG build. This pair is still a winner, especially in this colorway.

News Juan: (WAIT) OG or nothing, haha. All jokes aside, this pair is more comfy than the original. I would have copped had it not come with special branding on the side. I think these are sitting, right? I’ll just wait it out a bit.
Andres: (PASS) Is this some kind of sick joke by Nike to try and make up for the OG pair that was pretty much impossible to get? Thanks, but I’ll pass on these. Nike messed up big time by making the OG Red and Blue pairs so limited. It’s gonna take me a while to get over that.

Nike Air Foamposite Pro Silver Surfer

EIC Juan: (BUY) Not because I’m dying to blow that much money on a pair of Foams, but I have to support the community for finally getting a Marvel sneaker nickname correct this time. It’s all not silver like Norrin Radd is, but it’s a lot closer to the Surfer than poorly-named Dr. Doom is.

Renz: (WAIT) Still one of my favorite bball sneakers. I would’ve purchased these instantly years ago but I’ll only consider it at a lower price point.

News Juan: (PASS) Foams are not my thing. Never will be. If it wasn’t for working at KicksonFire, I would have forgotten that these drop this weekend.

Andres: (PASS) It’s still hard for me to believe that retail price for a pair of Foamposites is $250! I mean don’t they all end up going on sale a few weeks later anyway? These are decent, but I’m just not a Foam guy. And maybe for half the price.

adidas Dame 3 Legacy

adidas

EIC Juan: (BUY) The Dame 3 is just different from the all the NBA signature shoes this year, going for a more fashion-friendly approach with it’s lacing panels than in previous iterations. I have a feeling these will be appreciated long after they’re off the market. A cult classic in the making.

Renz: (WAIT) I like this style in tonal finishes and this version is pretty solid. The color combo is pretty stylish and classic.

News Juan: (PASS) Very clean, but I don’t really see myself buying a lot of basketball shoes any time soon (PG 1s are the exception and retros don’t count)

Andres: (WAIT) There’s something about an all-white/cream sneaker with a gum sole that always catches my eye. The Dame 3 is clean and this is one of the better colorways to release. Definitely a dope shoe to rock during the Summer.

Air Jordan 12 Low Wolf Grey

EIC Juan: (PASS) It’s not leather, it’s not something for me to care about.

Renz: (BUY) I’m usually against this model in low-top form, but in this finish, it’s really an appealing option. I would’ve liked it even more in a darker grey tone like the PSNY 12s though.

News Juan: (PASS) Eh. It does nothing for me. Kins of looks like those Wolf Grey / Blue 12s that dropped last year. I mean, if you’re going to release 12 Lows, I’d want the colorways to look different from the Mids, right?

Andres: (PASS) Not only are these Lows (which I don’t like), but what’s up with the perforations all over the upper?? This colorway had potential but it feels like another pair of 12s that Jordan Brand just rushed. Why? I don’t really know.

Nike SB Releasing Classics With Prism Pink

Pink is quickly becoming a trendy colorway in the sneaker world. Case in point: these new looks from Nike SB for the classic Zoom Stefan Janoski and Blazer Low XT, which are some of the cleanest pink sneakers we’ve seen so far this year. The Janoski gets a much larger dose of the “Prism Pink” hue than the Blazer Low XT, as you can see by the fully pink canvas upper versus the white upper of the toe-capped Blazer with a white leather build and pink Swooshes. Expect both shoes to arrive at select Nike SB stockists and Nike.com soon.

The Classic Nike SB Dunk Low Boca Juniors Returns Next Month

Introduced back in April 2005, the classic Nike SB Dunk Low Boca Juniors is suggested to make its return this Spring 2017, twelve years later.

Inspired by the Brazilian soccer club, this variation of the BOCA Juniors will simply stay true to its classic build with its signature tones of varsity royal and lightning yellow.

While the 2005 counterpart featured a full leather construction, this 2017 pair is upgraded with smooth suede overlays. Draped in blue, the eye-catching yellow accents are prominent on the Swooshes, tongue and heel, while it’s offset against a white midsole unit and gum outsole. In addition, the inner is more refined as well, with the classic fat tongue now slimmed down.

Retailing for $90, you can expect to find this pair at select Nike retailers starting April 2017.

Catch A Wave In This Brand New Nike Aqua Sock 360

What you see above is the Nike Aqua Sock 360, a modified/modernized/revamped version of the Nike Aqua Sock that made its debut back in the ’90s. The shoe Nike made to wear in (and out) the water, is back with a brand new construction.

The Nike Aqua Sock 360 keeps the aforementioned model’s original mesh construction, but opts to switch things up a bit when it comes to the sole unit. It now comes with a design consisting of three different parts made to give the shoe additional support. The shoe also comes equipped with a brand new heel counter that happens to house a large Nike Swoosh. For those of you looking to pick up a pair, be on the lookout since they’re bound to release soon being that sunny days are fast approaching.
