Kobe Bryant And Nike Launch Mamba League In Los Angeles

Kobe Bryant and Nike Basketball are giving back to the Los Angeles community that rooted for the Black Mamba for over 20 years with a new youth basketball initiative known as the Mamba League. The inaugural season covered four underserved communities in LA County with Nickerson Gardens in watts, Whittier, West San Gabriel Valley/ Monterey Park, and Venice all serving as testing grounds to help give kids positive experiences with athletics from a young age. The Mamba League’s 40 coaches were all volunteers drawn from local Nike stores and Boys & Girls Club staff members looking to mentor.

?This is more than just a competition,? says Bryant, who surprised the players by showing up to watch the Mamba Challenge tournament on April 15. ?The league is about empowering players and coaches and seeing kids increase their self-confidence as young leaders both on and off the court.?

The Nike Basketball Mamba League looks to expand throughout 2018 to include more boys and girls looking to start their basketball journey. Read the full piece over on Nike News.

Nike Dominates Boston Marathon Podium

Today, the city of Boston welcomed the world’s fastest and durable runners for the Boston Marathon, and although the event is officially sponsored by adidas, it was Nike that got the proper exposure in the world of running. The three top finishers for both men and women are Nike athletes, with Oregon native Jordan Hasay finishing third in her first-ever career marathon. Nike has made headlines recently with their BREAKING2 initiative and the sick sneakers, such as the Zoom VaporFly Elite.

Nike’s BREAKING2 aims to play a role in breaking the two-hour marathon barrier; Geoffrey Kirui and Galen Rupp, the first and second overall finishers, complete the marathon in just over two hours and nine minutes.

The Nike Air Max More Shows You Less Air Max

This isn’t the first time that Nike has covered up visible air. We’ve seen the Swoosh do just that with a few Nike Air Max 2016 Premium pairs before they introduced the VaporMax to the masses. But this is the first time that we’re seeing this brand new update to the Air Max line with the Nike Air Max More, a model that manages to introduce Dynamic Flywire, a lightweight slip-on upper comprised of neoprene mesh with a sleek Team Red to black Gradient, and supportive synthetic layers on the mudguard, all with a 90s influence throughout. So while the overall appearance might not compliment the Air Max More monicker, the full-length not quite visible Air Max unit still provides the comfort from previous models all with a modernized upper. It’s worth noting that just this colorway paints over the visible air on the midsole unit, as more colorways are coming featuring that coveted window into the shoe’s cushioning system. Check out more photos of this upcoming Air Max More colorway below and stay tuned for more updates right here on Sneaker News.
