The Next Phase Of Nike Layoffs Will Soon Be Put Into Effect

A couple months ago we let you know that Nike was preparing to layoff 2,500 of their employees and cut around 25% of their styles. The process is underway and the second phase will soon be put into effect. The second phase suggests that approximately 1,400 workers will be laid off.

According to a report in the Oregonian, employees who hold positions in operations, sales support and customer service received a notification that they were being laid off on Wednesday.

Phil Gold (worked for Nike for 15 years in mainly IT roles) was one of hundreds of technology workers laid off in June. He stated that veteran employees who received higher salaries were amongst the first to be let go. ?They definitely targeted tenured, experienced employees as a money-saving thing with very little regard for how the work is going to get done,? Gold reveals. ?It wasn?t about performance.?
