Presenting The Nike Air VaporMax By Johanna Schneider

Johanna Schneider, a renowned apparel designer and the Senior Design Director for Nike Sportswear Women?s Apparel, has created her own colorway of the Nike Air VaporMax via NIKEiD.

?What I love about the Air VaporMax is that from a visual standpoint, it contains the purest form of two key Nike innovations: Nike Flyknit and Nike Air,? says Schneider. ?Both technologies are revealed in this shoe in an intuitive, simple and beautiful way.?

For the NIKE Air VaporMax by JFS, the designer selected a heathered black and grey knit to highlight Flyknit?s grainy texture. To contrast the neutrality of the upper, Schneider colored the VaporMax Air unit with what she calls a glass bottle green (it?s a hyper turquoise-green inspired by classic bottles), and another she considers the color of life (a warm, reddish hyper orange).

The diagonal color of Schneider?s Air bag design is applied individually at an angle at Nike?s Air Manufacturing Innovation facility. This color application initiated an entirely new dyeing process, created from techniques that started with the multicolor Air unit of the Air VaporMax Flyknit BETRUE.

Though these details have been thoughtfully selected and combined by Schneider, her color palette also guides additional personalization opportunities via the NIKEiD service. First, there?s the option to choose hyper turquoise, hyper orange or clear for the toe of the VaporMax Air unit (paired with black for the remainder of the bag). Second, there are mint foam, hyper orange and anthracite options for the heel piece, heel accent and tongue label. And third, lateral and medial swooshes are offered in two color options: glossy black and hyper orange.

The Nike Air VaporMax by JFS is now available exclusively to NikePlus members and is available starting September 7 on nike.com/nikeid.

The Nike Makers Experience Allows You To Customize Shoes In Less Than 90 Minutes

Nike just unveiled the brand new Nike Makers? Experience. This new project allows you to customize shoes to the next level. The best part about all of this? You can create the shoes in less than 90 minutes.

The Nike Makers? Experience will open this month Nike By You Studio at 45 Grand in New York. Nike?s Advanced Innovation team brings elements of this process to the consumer by merging digital design with traditional footwear making.

The experience begins with a series of graphic options, generated from either Nike heritage or on-the-spot phrases, which can then be customized into patterns through shifts to size and color.

?The intention of the project is to bring to life the collaborative design experience that we offer our athletes,? says Mark Smith, VP of Innovation Special Projects. ?They love products that tell their story, so we wanted to combine that idea with a new process of live design and manufacturing that allows our guests to come into the space, work collaboratively with us and leave with a special product in less than 90 minutes.?

They use a one-of-a-kind version of the Nike Presto X, a silhouette specially created by the Nike Advanced Innovation for the Nike Makers? Experience. There are two versions of the shoe, a traditional Presto and a slip-on. Both are equally suited to the process of customization via dynamic object tracking and projection systems that instantly bring designs to life.

The invite-only experience will initially be limited to Nike friends and family and select Nike+ members. Stay tuned as more info begins to surface.
