Jacquard Materials Hit The Nike Air Classic BW Ultra

Nike Sportswear is celebrating the 25th anniversary of one of the less-heralded visible air-wielding runners of the early 90s in the Nike Air Classic BW. The ‘Big Window’ classic didn’t benefit from an Air Max title even though it featured one of the largest implementations of the technology at the time, sandwiched between the two classics that were the Nike Air Max 90 and Nike Air Max 95. The 1991 silhouette has since returned in the form of the Nike Air Classic BW Ultra, a somewhat diet form of the original that now branches off featuring woven technology for a fully modernized aesthetic. Known as the Nike Air Classic Bw Ultra Jacquard, the Flyweave-like upper alternates between stripes of the traditional Persian Violet and a Bright Crimson for a head-turning look. 3M reflective detailing even strikes the heel just in case you want to take this pair out for a midnight run. Be sure to view more official images below and stay tuned for availability later this month.

Author’s Take

Even though all of these are women’s colorways I wouldn’t mind wearing the Air Max 90. The bold red upper with textile detailing gives the shoe a really nice look.

Fun With NIKEiD: Nike Air Max iDs For Nikes Best

It’s March so you know what that means. No, it’s not March Madness or the Masters or the home stretch of the NBA season. March is now the month where we celebrate all things Air Max, culminating in the sneaker holiday that is now known as Nike Air Max Day. Sure, the actual meaning and significance of March 26 has never been totally clear to anybody outside of people at Nike HQ, but sometimes we just need an excuse to wear some dope Air Max kicks and Air Max Day has certainly become that day. Nike’s marketing probably got a huge raise after they pulled that off.

Anyways, for this year’s Air Max Day, Nike is promoting their NIKEiD creations featuring some of their top athletes, like Kevin Durant, Serena Williams and many more. In a testament to Nike’s huge roster of athletes, they didn’t get everybody a pair of Air Maxes… yet. And that’s why we’re here. In this edition of Fun With NIKEiD, we’re creating Nike Air Max 1 and Nike Air Max 90 iDs for some of the best Nike athletes that the swoosh maybe forgot to include. But we didn’t forget that’s for sure, and we made sure to not always pick the obvious influence, as you’ll see right off the bat… emphasis on “bat.”

Over the weekend we got a leaked image of the shoe you see above with a rumored attached to it suggesting that it was the Nike KD Trey 5 IV. Turns out that most of the sneaker blogs were wrong as we now got word that the shoe was simply a new colorway of the Nike KD Trey 5 III. Today we take a look at what Nike is calling the Nike KD Trey 5 III LMTD.

Said to be a special “Thumbs Up” colorway, this version is said to be a premium version of the shoe. The upper comes dressed in a leather and mesh construction that features an array of blue hues offset by the white found on the mesh toe and leather tongue. Unique features on the shoe include the embossed text on the leather tongue and the thumbs up patch on the tongues of the shoes. We’re still unsure as to what the thumbs up means, but we’re sure that Nike will soon fill us in. Are you a fan of what you see? Let us know in the comments below.

Author’s Take

It doesn’t really matter if it was the III or IV version of the KD Trey 5, it’s still a nice looking shoe. I’m just wondering what the patch on the tongue stands far. We will find out soon enough.

Nike Needs To Release These Air Max 1s In The U.S. Immediately

Seriously, why haven’t we seen these Nike Air Max 1s release yet? By now you’re familiar with Nike Sportswear teasing us with the return of the Air Max 1’s mini-Swoosh branding on the toe. Previews of this pair dating back to January have showcased Tinker Hatfield’s famed Safari Print atop the classic silhouette while the late-90s mini-Swoosh detailing returns for the first time in over a decade and a half. It’s an awesome little feature that will make traditionalists happy while also showcasing NSW’s ability to transform retro runners into complimentary lifestyle pieces with subdued colorways. Available in Pure Platinum/Kumquat or a Black/Anthracite options, these Nike Air Max 1 colorways should be available later this Spring 2016 season. Check out more photos below and stay tuned for a release date right here on Sneaker News.

Grey Nike Sock Darts Are Releasing This Weekend

The Nike Sock Dart was brought back around this time last year thanks to the hard work put in by NikeLab and fragment design’s own Hiroshi Fujiwara. While the pair eventually moved away from the two lightning bold logo and into general release territory, that didn’t stop people from holding an interest in the 2004 running retro. Now the shoe is back for 2016 in a subtle “Wolf Grey” appearance, as the stretchy knit upper exudes a light grey shade to match up nicely with the translucent forefoot strap and clean white midsole. This Sock Dart colorway is headed to retailers this Saturday, March 12th at select overseas shops, but there’s still no word yet on when the pair will arrive at stateside retailers. Be sure to head to our release dates page for an updated look at what else is headed to retailers this weekend.

Over the years, the Nike SB Stefan Janoski line has released a handful of different hybrid versions. Today they unveil their latest version which has the shoe come in a classic slip-on construction we’re used to seeing on a certain model from another brand.

With an obvious inspiration stemming from the Vans Slip-On, the Janoski tries on the laceless look on for size. The first two colorways that have been unveiled show the Nike SB Stefan Janoski Slip-On come in a black suede upper and a white canvas upper. Both styles come paired up with a white vulcanized sole unit as well as contrasting Nike Swoosh branding placed on the side panels. What do you think? Is this a look you like on the Nike SB Janoski? A Closer Look At The Nike Kobe 11 Elite 4KB

It’s Kobe Bryant’s final season in the NBA, which means it’s also the final season we’ll see him breaking out exclusives editions of this signature line. It’s truly the end of an era, but at least we have plenty of great retail releases of his latest signature still to look forward to. There has been perhaps no colorway as anticipated as the one we’re here to take another look at today, the Kobe 11 Elite “4KB”. The unique colorway pairs a pristine white Flyknit base with multicolor threading woven into the midfoot while white leather Swooshes are stitched above. This version also adds heel tabs, which we haven’t seen on the previous releases. Is this the best version of the Nike Kobe 11 yet? If you’re a Kobe fan that can’t live without a pair, don’t forget that they drop March 14th at select Nike Basketball retailers like Oneness.

The weather is about to get a lot warmer thanks to the arrival of Spring in a couple of weeks and we’ll be seeing the low-top version of the LeBron 13 make its debut.

Today we get a close and detailed look at the black and red colorway of the Nike LeBron 13 Low which is the same pair that LeBron James first wore during All Star Weekend in Toronto. This colorway of the LeBron 13 Low comes with a black-based upper and red detailing on the Swoosh, tongue and heel pull tabs, and the translucent outsole. A white midsole adds some more contrast to this LeBron 13 that is scheduled to release on April 2nd at select Nike retailers.

Author’s Take

The more I look at the low-top version of the LeBron 13 the more I like it better than the original. I think this lower silhouette has a better lifestyle look and is easier to wear with different looks.

Nike Tennis Introduces The NikeCourt Air Zoom Ultrafly

Nike just introduced a new tennis silhouette to the world known as the NikeCourt Air Zoom Ultrafly.

This new tennis sneaker from the Swoosh was designed to be a ?rocket ship? for tennis athletes. Nike’s thought process when creating this shoe was to combine a tennis shoe and a track spike that could take the sport to a completely new area. Looking at the NikeCourt Air Zoom Ultrafly what immediately stands out the most is the Flyknit ankle cuff. Other features include a track and field-tested Pebax propulsion plate, and hexagonal Nike Zoom Air units. The asymmetrical construction of the shoe aims to help athletes cut diagonally across the court.

The NikeCourt Air Zoom Ultrafly will release in White/Volt and an all-Black colorway for men and women on March 9th at nike.com and select Nike retailers.

Author’s Take

Since I don’t play or watch tennis I don’t have an interest in tennis shoes. But looking at this new Air Zoom Ultrafly I like the design of the upper and the placement of the Swoosh. If I played tennis I’d definitely rock this sneaker.

Nike Brings Back The Legendary atmos x Air Max 1 Next Week

Nearly three weeks ago, we learned that Nike was bringing back the legendary atmos x Air Max 1 “Safari” with some altered materials. This news came as a surprise considering this release is thirteen years old and a re-release seemed rather unlikely, but it appears that Nike made sure to avoid ruffling the features of OG Air Max heads that consider this the greatest Air Max ever (and it just might be) by making some small tweaks. For the 2016 version, Nike brings a nappy suede toe-box opposed to the durable canvas on the original, and the outsole is a clear glow-in-the-dark version instead of gum. The official press release makes no mention of the Japanese shop that created the colorway in the first place, which is…shocking. A release is now scheduled for March 14th at noon EST via the Nike Drawing system. Stay tuned for more updates on availability at other shops, and let us know what you feel about this “Retro” release.
