Heres The Real Inspiration Behind The Nike Kobe 11 TV

It’s been previewed for a couple months now, but the story behind the inspiration of the “TV” colorway of the Nike Kobe 11 has been a little fuzzy so far. Now with the official photos and release details straight from Nike, the picture has finally come in to focus. Growing up in Italy, young Kobe became a student of the game early on by studying video-taped basketball games his grandfather would bring over from the States. This colorway takes inspiration from the VHS color bars and black and white “fuzz” found on old tapes liked the ones Kobe used to learn from the NBA greats. Releasing exclusively in kid’s sizing (3.5Y-7Y), the Kobe 11 “TV” will be avaialble at select Nike Basketball retailers and Nike.com beginning May 27th.

Author’s Take

If there was one colorway of the Nike SB Stefan Janoski that I would like to own it would be this one. But since the shoe isn’t comfortable on my feet I don’t plan on picking up a pair.

Another On-Feet Look At The Nike Kobe 11 Carpe Diem

NIKE KOBE 11 1 NIKE KOBE 11 2 NIKE KOBE 11 3 NIKE KOBE 11 4

Releasing this upcoming weekend will be the next colorway of the Nike Kobe 11. With Kobe Bryant having retired over a month ago it seems that people aren’t too interested in the Kobe 11 anymore.

Maybe this new Carpe Diem colorway will change things a bit. Inspired by the Nike Zoom Kobe 4 Carpe Diem, this colorway recalls Kobe?s 2009 Championship and every day he seized thereafter. The engineered mesh upper on this pair of Kobe 11s has been done in Black while Court Purple lands on the Kobe logo on the tongue, and University Gold covers the Swoosh. The quilted inner liner is done in a combination of Black and University Gold.

Set to release on May 21st for $160, who plans on scooping up this Kobe 11? Take a look at the on-feet images below so you know what the shoes will look like if you do decide to buy them.

True fans of the Nike Kobe line will be happy to see this Carpe Diem colorway make a return. This can also serve as another Lakers colorway, which is always a good thing for fans of the team.

Nike SB Is Re-releasing The Digi-Floral Janoskis

The heyday of Nike SB is long gone, but here and there we’ll get treated to a standout release that will have sneakerheads flocking to skateshops like they were over a decade ago. A few years back Nike had us fixated on skate when it dropped one of the best SB shoes ever – the “digi-floral” Janoski. It looks like this May 23rd, the brand is retro-ing this instant classic, which mixes in a pixelated floral graphic above a classic camouflage print underlay. Right now the release is confirmed for Japan, but don’t be surprised if these drop in the US and in Europe not long after.

Author’s Take

Skater shoes aren’t really my style anymore but I like the materials and colorway on this SB Zoom All Court CK. It’s nice to see something other than Dunks SBs and Janoskis when it comes to Nike SB.

Nike Sock Dart 1 Nike Sock Dart 2 Nike Sock Dart 3 Nike Sock Dart 4

One of the newest colorway of the popular Nike Sock Dart that has just hit retailers is this Hasta colorway that you see above.

The only problem for us sneakerheads living in the US is that they’ve yet to arrive in the states. This Sock Dart is covered in a green hue all throughout the mesh upper while black accents cover the Nike branding and the rubber outsole. Last but not least we have a white midsole that has been hit with some speckling to give it a nice pop.

Are you looking forward to these landing stateside? If you just can’t wait you may still be able to find these at select international Nike stockists.

Author’s Take

One of the nicer colorway of the Sock Dart that I’ve seen. Something so simple as a speckled midsole gives such a nice pop to this shoe. I hope they release more colorways with speckled midsoles.

Look For These Two New Colorways Of The Nike Air Shibusa Next Week

NIKE AIR SHIBUSA 1 NIKE AIR SHIBUSA 2 NIKE AIR SHIBUSA 3

Two new colorways of the Nike Air Shibusa will be arriving on nike.com next week.

Coming in your choice of Black/White/Anthracite or Gym Red/White/Wolf Grey, the Air Shibusa is one of the newest Nike lifestyle silhouettes that draws inspiration from basketball sneakers. The shoe features a lightweight mesh upper, responsive cushioning and a convenient slip-on construction for superior comfort. Elastic gore straps enable locked-down support, while a combined Phylon outsole and midsole provide superior traction and stability. A no-sew Swoosh design trademark and “Nike Air” embroidery on the heel complete the look on the Nike Air Shibusa.

Set to release on May 23rd for $85, do you plan on picking up either pair?

via: Nike

Author’s Take

The Nike Air Shibusa sort of reminds me of the Roshe Run but with a higher ankle and straps instead of laces. I’m not really a fan of Slip-On sneakers so these are a pass for me.

Heres What An Uncaged Nike Air Presto Looks Like

Perhaps inspired by the “Uncaged” adidas Ultra Boost, a sneaker customizer just decided to replicate the concept on the Nike Air Presto. The classic design of the “t-shirts for your feet” get even more t-shirt-like once the TPU midfoot “cage” is cut off, transforming the upper into an even more minimal construction. Since the laces are held within the cage, this customizer surgically implanted the laces right into the upper. Take a look at the uncaged Prestos here, and let us know in the comments below if you’d like to see this version actually released.

Serena Williams Has More NikeLab Shoes Releasing Soon

Nike is transforming the way we look at their performance models throughout 2016 with releases like the Nike KD 8 Elite and even Serena Williams‘ latest tennis silhouette in the NikeCourt Flare, designs that look more like high-concepts than something you’d actually find at your local retailer. The high-arching lockdown ankle support and extra durable rubberized outsole are both features you wouldn’t normally find on a tennis shoe, but NikeCourt makes it work. A new Floral colorway will be arriving in the near future that includes a lifestyle ready aesthetic with cartoonish roses making up the Swoosh branding. We can’t imagine wearing this pair outside of the tennis court, but that’s where the revamped Nike Air Max 1 Ultra and Nike Roshe Run LD-1000 come into play. Be on the lookout for this pair to arrive online and in-store at select Nike retailers later this month.

NikeCourt Air Zoom UltraFly NikeCourt Air Zoom UltraFly 1 NikeCourt Air Zoom UltraFly 2

With the French Open approaching (May 22 – June 5), this NikeCourt Air Zoom Ultrafly Clay edition is introduced, as the model is suited for the tennis courts.

Featured in a tonal navy finish, the model is comprised of a durable and flexible skin on the upper, which helps prevent clay from getting into the shoe. Other design elements include a traditional herringbone pattern which delivers added traction, while the palette essentially connects to the looks for the championship.

You can purchase this highlighted pair at select Nike accounts starting today, May 16 for a retail price tag of $220.

Author’s Take

I like the overall design and the upper looks clean. I’m biased towards the color and it looks really solid. I’d consider purchasing if I was into the sport.

Fun With NIKEiD: 15 Nike Kyrie 2 Ky-Rispy Kreme Designs

Not all Nike Kyrie 2 puns are created equal. You have the easy, low-hanging fruit puns like Ky-reer High, the so bad it’s good appeal of the Kyrie-Oke and the sheer genius that is the Kyrache. But then Nike outdid themselves and every other brand out there when it comes to absurd nicknames when they unveiled the Ky-Rispy Kreme colorway. If you missed it, Nike actually teamed up with Charles Barkley’s most beloved food in the whole world to create a sneaker that gives a nod to the company’s instantly recognizable white, green and red box. Because who else but Nike can get away with teaming up with a brand that is the furthest thing from top-level athletic performance?

We wanted to do a Fun With NIKEiD piece on the Ky-Rispy Kreme graphic (which really doesn’t look like a donut, but whatever) earlier but a few trips out of state and the new Nike Air Presto Ultra Flyknit put those plans on hold. But we’re here now with some designs for everybody to check out as we have a dozen (and change) designs of the Nike Kyrie 2 Ky-Rispy Kreme.

The Nike Kobe 11 Carpe Diem Is Arriving In A Few Days

Nike Kobe 11 Nike Kobe 11 7 Nike Kobe 11 5 Nike Kobe 11 4 Nike Kobe 11 3 Nike Kobe 11 6 Nike Kobe 11 2 Nike Kobe 11 1

The Nike Kobe 11 consisted as the last on-court sneaker for Kobe Bryant, and the next colorway of the silhouette will be making its arrival very soon.

Inspired by the Kobe 4’s classic “Carpe Diem” palette which first debuted in 2009, the same finish is essentially reissued on this model. Black dominates the engineered mesh upper and synthetic overlays across its toe cap and rear, while the subdued tone is punctuated by vibrant hits of court purple and university gold gracing the Swoosh logos across its side panels, grid stitching pattern on the inner lining, sheath logo on the tongue and more branding on the heels.

All adhered atop translucent outsole, you can purchase this latest pair at select Nike accounts on Saturday, May 21st for a retail price tag of $160.

Author’s Take

I wasn’t aware that this particular colorway was inspired by a previous model until now. I wasn’t really into Bryant’s sneakers back then. I do like this silhouette a lot and the execution was nicely done. Fans should be excited as well.

The Nike Lunar Flow Is Making An Unexpected Return

Nike Sportswear is full of surprises. The Nike Air Flow was one of the Swoosh’s most interesting runners back in the late 80s thanks to a stretchy neoprene upper that was splashed with all kinds of vibrant colorways to turn heads while being a legit performer. NSW remixed the shoe with an additional Lunarlon midsole 5 years ago and now the brand is bringing back the Nike Lunar Flow in a surprising retro for this summer. This year’s rendition ditches the usual neoprene for a breathable mesh and fuse construction for a perfect ventilated ride for summer when paired with the cushiony midsole unit. Get with us after the break for a better view of the latest Nike Lunar offering and know that this trio will arrive at international retailers like Size? this Friday, May 20th.

Theres Yet Another Version Of The Nike Air Max 90 Infrared

Believe it or not, Nike Sportswear has found yet another way to remake the iconic “Infrared” colorway of the Air Max 90. Showing up in countless iterations throughout the years, this latest is arguably one of the very best we’ve seen since the original. The classic running silhouette is retooled with the ‘Ultra’ treatment, featuring a cored-out sole unit and modernized materials up top. For this latest ‘Ultra SE’ version, the upper receives a unique molded foam that retains the Infrared look you know and love despite the extreme material upgrade. Like what you see? Air Max 90 fans can look forward to the Air Max 90 Ultra SE in Infrared hitting select Nike Sportswear retailers on July 29th.
