Social Status Keeps The All-Star Spirit Alive In Charlotte With Jordan Pop-Up Event
By SoleInsider
As you all know, the 2017 NBA All-Star Game was scheduled to take place in Charlotte. Last March, the state of North Carolina passed House Bill 2, a controversial bill that was deemed discriminatory to transgenders and the LBGT community as a whole. In response to the events, the National Basketball Association made the decision to relocate the mid-February festivities to New Orleans, citing in short that the values and principles of the NBA were not aligned with House Bill 2.
For the basketball fans of Charlotte, there was clearly a void. But Social Status, with one of its busiest locations in the heart of the city, is stepping in to shine brightly with a complete All-Star experience for the community and particularly the youth that had yet to experience the hoopla of All-Star Weekend. Beginning tomorrow, Social Status and Jordan will host daily events highlighting the All-Stars of the Charlotte community and the Jordan athletes in the NBA. In addition to the special events, a healthy assortment of footwear will be available for purchase, including the 2017 All-Star Collection and key restocks (Banned 1, Top-Three 1, Cool Grey 11, Space Jam 11 etc). For full details check out the Social Status blog.
In the midst of the All Star-themed releases this weekend, we’ll also be seeing the return of a classic as the Air Jordan 13 in the Chicago/Cherry colorway will be making a comeback.
Today we bring you possibly the best on-feet images that you’ll see of the sneaker before it hits stores this weekend. This OG colorway of the Air Jordan 13 features a White tumbled leather upper with contrasting hints of Team Red nubuck on the ankle, mudguard, and midsole. The Jumpman on the tongue has been done in Black along with the outsole to complete the Chicago color scheme. Lastly we have the signature hologram logo on the ankle.
Will you cop on February 18th? The sneaker will release in full family sizing with the men’s pair retailing for $190.
The iconic “Playoffs” Air Jordan 12 returns this spring, but with a new low-top height for the first time ever. Replicating the beloved black and white leather colorway that Michael Jordan wore en route to his 1997 NBA Championship with the Bulls, the Air Jordan 12 Low receives the recognizable look that will definitely have collectors scrambling to get a pair when they drop on February 25th. We’re here to help you pick up a pair with no hassle, supplying a full list of online retailers who will have them in stock, as well as a second list of sneaker boutiques that will have them available in store on the 25th.
The PSNY x Air Jordan 12 Restocks Tomorrow At New York City Pop-Up Location
By SoleInsider
Jordan Brand has plenty of special drops in store for the coming NBA All-Star Weekend, but something we didn’t expect was the return of the PSNY x Air Jordan 12 to honor Public School’s latest apparel collaboration with Jordan Brand at their 330 Hudson Street Pop-Up location. Limited quantities of the $300 USD retro will be available, so if you’re in New York City, be prepared to head to Tribeca early and to wait in line for a good amount of time. But given the premium monochromatic suede on this popular PSNY Air Jordan 12, it will all be worth it. Stay tuned for more Air Jordan Release Dates right here on Sneaker News.

KoF Live: Jordan Spieth Shows Off The New Under Armour Spieth One (Video)
By SoleInsider
It was a bullet point that was so obvious but had never crossed my mind. Jordan Spieth, the best young American golfer since Tiger Woods, is only the second person in history to receive a signature golf shoe. While legends like Jack Nicklaus and the late Arnold Palmer have personal brands that have produced golf shoes with their name on it, only Spieth and Woods have earned the honor from major brands like Under Armour and Nike respectively.
In Under Armour’s eyes and the way they market Spieth, he is the Stephen Curry of golf. A humble kid with a height and build who shares more in common with the average basketball player than LeBron James matched with an otherworldly skill set is a formula that worked for Steph; and now it’s being replicated with Jordan. That’s why the brand premiered the Under Armour Spieth One in Asia earlier this year, where golf is arguably even more popular there than it is in America. From Seoul to Tokyo, Spieth has the potential to be that crossover star that Under Armour needs and golf has been looking for since Tiger. Of course, it helps that he wins in the shoe and Jordan did just that when he won on the PGA Tour at fabled Pebble Beach last week.
For the third stop of the Spieth One Tour, Jordan is in town for the Genesis Open at another world famous course, the Riviera Country Club (remember when we were there last year?). Before he took aim at winning for the second straight week, Spieth joined us at Nobu in Malibu to show off the Speith One alongside actress Kelly Rohrbach, a golfer in her right who also shares an Under Armour connection with Spieth (Rohrbach will be starring in the Baywatch remake alongside fellow Under Armour athlete Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson).
After Spieth talked about his shoe along with his coach Cameron McCormick, Spieth and Rohrbach showed off their putting skills on the special Under Armour putting green for the event. Playing a game called Crash The Gate with the UA logo, Spieth showed off that world class short game he’s been…
Ok, he made it on his second try. See? Spieth is just like us.

We’re only a few days away from the NBA’s annual All-Star Weekend which means a ton of awesome sneaker releases are headed your way to celebrate the league’s best players heading down to New Orleans for the star-studded exhibition game. While Jordan Brand will focus primarily on their color-changing All-Star Collection featuring the Air Jordan 1, Air Jordan 6, and Air Jordan 31, you can’t forget about the return of the original Air Jordan 13 colorway slated to arrive at a number of retailers in a full family size run on February 18th.
Jordan Brand pushed the Air Jordan 13 with the introduction of the brand new “Black Cat” colorway this past January, an homage to the original inspiration behind the model and Mike’s defensive prowess and attacking ability throughout his career. This was the shoe that propelled Mike to his sixth and final NBA championship, and the Tinker Hatfield design boasted a premium tumbled leather upper instead of the mesh found on other colorways. The unique 6th Rings midsole and outsole unit were made in a nod to a panther’s paw while a holographic branding bubble shined in a contrasting and hypnotizing green (it recently served as the inspiration behind Jordan Brand’s Christmas PE Collection too). What do you think of the coming Air Jordan 13 OG True Red release?

The year of the Air Jordan 13 continues during NBA All-Star Weekend with the return of the classic Air Jordan 13 White/True Red that Michael Jordan wore during his final season as a member of the Chicago Bulls. While every pair Air Jordans during MJ’s prime is legendary in their own right, there are a handful that truly stand out and the 13 is part of that group that is just slightly above the pack with Tinker Hatfield giving it a personal touch (without even knowing it). Based off of Jordan’s “secret nickname” Black Cat, the Air Jordan 13 sit atop the list of favorite among many sneakerheads and NBA stars alike, as evidenced by what pair takes the top spot.
Getty Images
The Air Jordan 13 was worn by Michael Jordan throughout the 1997-98 NBA season, playing in what many thought would be his final season. The Air Jordan 13 has an interesting story and inspiration, but it was eventually overshadowed by the Air Jordan 14 that MJ debuted during the Finals.
Despite the unintentional snub, the 13 has a very unique look to it. From the podular outsole to the hologram emblem, the 13 definitely has its own swagger that other Jordans of the time couldn’t match. The hologram on the heel that reads 23 was a representation of the big cat’s eyes and intimidating stare. The pods that made up the outsole served as a cat paw, to show that MJ needed that grip and traction that a “black cat” like him needed.
Air Jordan 13 Grey Toe
Nike
Worn by Jason Kidd during his stint with Jordan Brand, the Grey Toe shows off the versatility of the 13s as it’s really just a subtle change from the OG colorway, yet when it’s paired up with Kidd’s New Jersey Nets uniforms, it makes all the sense in the world and gives the classic a whole new look. While 2014 offers a slighlty different take on the shoe – it’s not grey toe and grey tongue – the spirit of the OG remains.. Underrated when they first dropped, that label doesn’t seem appropriate nowadays.
Air Jordan 13 BIN 23
Nike
Before they were calling it “remastered,” they were calling it “Premio.” Using original or premium materials depending on what the marketing called for was a stroke of genius on Jordan Brand’s part as it allowed them to create a whole new lane that moved classic Air Jordans like the 13 and 7 into luxury territory. These really set the stage for many of the premium retros we see today like the PSNY x Air Jordan 12 or Don C’s many collaborations with the Air Jordan 2.
Air Jordan 13 Low Chutney
Jordan Brand
Set to return this summer, the Air Jordan 13 Low Chutney is a time capsule to the simpler times of the late ’90s and early 2000s when wheat-colored boots were popular not just for function, but for style. Nearly 20 years later since they first dropped, it looks like Jordan Brand is waiting to see if lightning can strike twice.
Air Jordan 13 CP3 (Home)
Nike
There are two versions of the Air Jordan 13 CP3 that dropped in 2015, but we’re going with the Asia-exclusive home version because they remind us more of the Charlotte Hornets days even though Chris Paul never played for the Hornets when they were in North Carolina. It’s rare for true player exclusives to ever release to the public so this was a real treat for the CP3 fans out there who longed for the chance to cop something that they might only see in his famous personal collection.
Air Jordan 13 Black Cat
Kicks On Fire
It took the public 20 years to finally own the shoe that really plays off the Black Cat name and it was worth the effort. Blackout kicks can be very hit or miss because they can easily be shrugged off as “nurse shoes”, but the subtle details in the 13 makes sure that isn’t the case here. This where the hologram badge of the shoe really pops in the right light, which we’re guessing is what Tinker was going for the whole time.
Air Jordan 13 Low Quai 54
Nike
Released in conjunction with the Quai 54 streetball tournament in Paris, this was seemingly a Black Cat colorway before the actual Black Cat dropped, but the tournament-inspired graphic effect on the midsole area set them apart from all other 13s that have ever released. We applaud the sneakers that take the chance and do something new even if it doesn’t always work out; this one did work out.
Air Jordan 13 Low Black/Metallic Silver/University Blue
Flight Club
A low-cut version of the Flint 13s sounds like a great idea, but instead of just doing exactly that, Jordan Brand changed up the color scheme just enough to have people wondering what these would look like in a high-cut style. We won’t call them “Reverse Flints” or anything crazy like that, but watch out for that name when these get an inevitable retro drop later this year or in the future.
Air Jordan 13 Bred
The luster of this colorway took a hit when the 2013 retro and it did not have reflective hits on the overlay that many people loved about the OG and it’s the only reason this colorway is not cracking the Top 5. Nevertheless, they were still quite popular in 2013 and we fully expect the 2017 edition to also be a hard pair to find especially since reports about the shoe say that it will have 3M this time around.
Air Jordan 13 White/True Red
When people think about the Air Jordan 13, these and the He Got Game are probably the two that come to mind the most because MJ wore them so prominently during the 1997-98 regular season, so the countless pictures and memes out there that sneakerheads have made feature these kicks. The cycle starts once again for these when they land on All-Star Weekend.
Air Jordan 13 Flint
Nike
The Air Jordan 13 Flint is rumored to be dropping in September so let’s add fuel to the fire by declaring them one of the best Air Jordan 13s of all time. Much like the Air Jordan 13 Grey Toe added some depth and variance to what we expect out of the shoe, the Flint was an OG that stood out from the pack like other prominent blue Air Jordans like the Air Jordan 3 True Blue. It’s a favorite among legendary NBA shooting guards like Kobe Bryant and Richard Hamilton, so it earns its spot on this list quite easily.
Air Jordan 13 Playoffs
Nike
The playoffs are where legends are made and MJ added to his legacy wearing these and the Breds during his final championship run in the 1998 NBA Playoffs. But it might be another sneaker superstar who will be remembered more for wearing these. Nate Robinson – playing for the Chicago Bulls, no less – had the game and series of his life taking on the Brooklyn Nets while rocking the Playoff 13s and putting on one of the great playoff performances in recent memory.
Air Jordan 13 He Got Game
We are all Jake Shuttlesworth when we get a new pair of Js.
Air Jordan 13 Ray Allen PE
Flight Club
Jay Z claims he did more for the Yankees hat than any New York Yankee ever did. Well, we’re going to put this out there and claim that Ray Allen and Denzel Washington did more for the Air Jordan 13 than Michael Jordan ever did. Of course, there would be no Yankee hat without the New York Yankees and there would be no Air Jordan 13 without the Black Cat (MJ, not the colorway), but in terms of recognition and cultural significance, Jakes Shuttlesworth wearing the 13s for almost the entire length of He Got Game – and it was a long movie – and Ray Allen setting the all-time record for 3-pointers made in a PE version of the 13s – setting the stage for Chris Paul’s 13 PEs years later – plays better. And quite honestly, green is a better look for the 13s than red ever was.

A Triple White Air Jordan 5 Take Flight Is Revealed
By SoleInsider
Following the release of the Air Jordan 5 Take Flight (Tan Tongue), the model is expected to receive a pristine makeover next, as it’s now featured in a triple white theme.
Although it’s slightly different than this previously featured white/gold pair, this variation of the classic basketball sneaker also dons a premium white leather construction, which bears a distinctive weave pattern on its traditional TPU netted paneling, while also notably different from the recent tan tongue colorway.
Other distinguishable elements include premium leather tongues, gold lace tips and Jumpman logo on the insoles, as it’s all adhered atop a matching white midsole unit and milky translucent outsole.
A release date has not been revealed yet, but, it’s suggested to debut sometime this Spring/Summer 2017.
Notably prominent on MJ during the Chicago Bulls? 1997-98 championship season, the classic basketball sneaker is essentially colored in the Chicago Bulls? signature tones. A premium combination of white tumbled leather and red suede comprises its overall build, while a black outsole caps off the respective colors. Finally, the signature hologram detail across its heel and Jumpman branding on the tongue finishes off its distinctive details.
With adult sizes listed at $190, the silhouette will be available in full family sizing starting this Saturday, February 18th at select JB and Nike retailers.
With the 2017 NBA All-Star festivities occurring this weekend in New Orleans, the Air Jordan 31 has been treated in a special theme in honor of the celebratory event.
Inspired by one of Michael Jordan?s shining moments, in which he nailed the game-winning shot for UNC to win the NCAA Championship at the Superdome, the basketball sneaker is punctuated with shimmering iridescent overlays across its upper to reflect that shining moment. Flaunting a tonal stealthy finish overall, the model is topped off with notable branding located on its heel and tongue. Finally, an icy translucent outsole rounds out the sleek profile.
Priced at $185, you can also buy this standout pair in GS sizing at select Nike and JB stockists starting Thursday, February 16th.
