This latest edition of KoF Live is brought to you from our friends over at Jordan Brand. I had no idea what was in the box, but when I saw the UPS driver drop off the package I knew there was a good chance that it was going to be more than just one sneaker based off of the size and girth of the box.
Keep in mind, I was low key excited because this was going to be my first ever gift from Jordan Brand (insert praying hands emoji here), so I wasted no time, stopped what I was doing and got to opening the giant box. Out came not one, not two, but three Jordan Brand boxes. Dope! Now to see what’s inside them.
Above you will find the Jordan Fly 89, the Jordan Grind (Derek Jeter edition) and the Air Jordan 5 Premium Triple Black. Three different shoes for three different occasions.
The Jordan Fly 89 is the casual/chill/everyday kind of sneaker from the pack. It’s one of Jordan Brand’s newest lifestyle model inspired by the Air Jordan 4. The heel tab and lacing wings/system are a clear indicative of that. Made out of a neoprene upper, this is the type of casual shoe that you can just slip on and go. It comes in Black so you won’t have any problem matching it up with anything. I slipped it on real quick and being that it comes with a Lunarlon midsole, the comfort was good, something I’ve come to appreciate now that I’m getting older.
Up next is the Jordan Grind, Derek Jeter editions. This model is a trainer, so we can categorize this pair as the performance/training sneaker from the pack. The new Jordan Grind trainer features a pared-down textile upper and flexible midsole that doubles as an outsole for a sleek look. Cement print has been added on the mudguard and side panels along with elephant print on the midsole to give the shoe a bit of a retro vibe to them. Jumpman logos are placed on the tongue and side of the heel. This particular colorway recently dropped as a part of the Jordan Brand Derek Jeter RE2PECT Collection, which is why the shoe comes in a Yankee colorway and “RE2PECT” branding on the heel pull tab.
Last but not least is the Air Jordan 5 Premium Triple Black, the latest colorway of the Air Jordan 5 Premium drops. We could label this pair as the “Night out on the town/dress to impress” sneaker from the pack. Yeah, it’s a basketball sneaker but the construction, craftsmanship and materials used on the shoe make it more suitable to wear off the court rather than for shooting jumpers or running suicides. Rocking an all-Black look, the shoe comes dressed in a premium, super-soft leather upper. Parts of the shoe that are usually not premium leather, come in leather this time around (see netting on the side panels, lace locks, inner lining and midsole.) Added premium features include the ribbed paneling on the tongue and side panels, the carbon fiber-like eyelets, waxed laces and embossed branding.

A big thank you to our friends over at Jordan Brand for keeping me fresh this Summer, regardless of the occasion. It’s very much appreciated.
