With a black base, the textured upper features nubs in red, purple, and yellow for a unique new treatment to Kyrie’s third signature shoe. Below you’ll find an icy clear outsole with the usual bright accents on the strategic traction pods. Nike Sock Dart SE Features Silver Heel Caps

Fresh off the release of the Stone Island Nike Sock Dart collaboration, Nike Sportswear continues to revamp the ahead-of-its-time running retro with new features. This pair sticks to the computerized woven upper championed by Tobie Hatfield, as the precursor to Flyknit gets a simplified dark grey colorway to match the smoky black accents on the strap overlay throughout. The real call to action on this upcoming Nike Sock Dart SE is the metallic silver heel caps, though as it’s the first time we’ve seen NSW take advantage of the unique construction for a head-turning new look.

The Nike Sock Dart burst onto the scene in 2004 in limited quantities in Japan and garnered a cult following for its unparalleled design. Now, in a sneaker climate that features more minimalist silhouettes driven by woven tech, the Sock Dart has finally hit its stride and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. What do you think of this new take?

Check out more detailed shots of the Nike Sock Dart SE’s Metallic Silver transformation below and be on the lookout for this pair to drop in February. For more of the latest updates, head over to our Release Dates page.

The Nike Air Zoom Generation Vachetta Tan Releases All-Star Weekend

Nike is turning back the clock for All-Star Weekend with a “Wheat” inspired take on the Nike Air Zoom Generation retro. Sure, this isn’t the suede Timberland-inspired offering that turned heads during LeBron’s first NBA All-Star Weekend as a rookie, but the NikeLab take ups the ante through a premium monochromatic Vachetta Tan leather throughout featuring a new embossed Swoosh branding on the side panel.

The Nike Air Zoom Generation Vachetta Tan also features luxurious copper accents on the lace eyelets and protective toecap. We’re sure the same can be said about the heel, but in the first look, that feature is still covered by its new protective coating. So the good news is, Nike still plans on dropping a number of Zoom Generation retros. Do you think their move away from traditional colorways is a solid decision or do you miss the OG “Wheat” look that inspired this pair? Rumor has it that this offering could be a part of a larger Nike Sportswear pack featuring a Nike Air Foamposite Pro.

We’re still unsure about the exact date this Nike Zoom Generation Vachetta Tan will be releasing given the limited nature of the model, but you can expect select boutiques to start stocking them anytime between Thursday, February 16th, and Saturday, February 18th leading up to the NBA All-Star Game.

Sneaker Grails: The Amazing Box Of The Nike Air Force 1 Year Of The Rabbit

Every year we celebrate Chinese New Year by wearing red (for luck and prosperity), hanging up paper lanterns, and eating copious amounts of White Rabbit candy. Ok, two of those things are actual tradition that’s followed by many Filipinos and the other is something I just do regardless of whether or not it’s Chinese New Year. Take a wild guess which one…

As a kid, my sweet tooth had a thing for White Rabbit candy. For those unfamiliar with them, the White Rabbit milk candy has a similar vibe to taffy and is features two layers of wrapping with one actually being edible because it’s made of rice paper. Much like other addictive candies here in the states, you couldn’t eat just one and they were packaged in bags similar to Skittles or Gummi Worms. It’s right up there with Curly Tops, Stork, Polvoron from Goldilocks in the pantheon of late 80s Pinoy candies that were probably had way too much sugar content than is legal these days (note: it wasn’t legal). So you can imagine the nostalgia pangs hit me pretty hard when Nike decided to pay a not-so-subtle homage to the White Rabbit in 2011 with their Air Force 1 CNY release.

Featuring premium leather on the overlay, platinum suede panels, milky white translucent midsole, cheniles swooshes, rabbit on the heel, wax shoelaces, the Chinese symbol “Tu” (rabbit), and a “2011” lace dubre, the Nike Air Force 1 Year of the Rabbit was a well-executed drop. But the extra mile comes in the form of the White Rabbit candy tribute; the Blue and Crimson accents on the AF1 and the graphics on the sockliner are similar to the artwork found on the candy wrapper. And if that wasn’t enough, the sneaker would come in a package shaped like a giant piece of White Rabbit candy. I’m not sure if I loved the shoe or the box more, but needless to say, I was in love from the first time I saw it (here on Kicks On Fire before I started working for the site).

Then I found out how much of a pain in the ass they were going to be to cop, which made my head explode. The sneaker was originally thought to be an Asian exclusive, with the first drop coming with the limited White Rabbit packaging a week before Chinese New Year for the equivalent of almost $400 and a more “general release” version sans the cool box coming out the following week. I would find out later that Nike’s 21 Mercer store and a handful of other retailers in the US also received them, but trying to find a spot that had the special box was a hopeless endeavor.

As far as the secondary market for the Nike Air Force 1 Supreme Low Year Of The Rabbit goes these days, it compares favorably to other Chinese New Year drops this decade. You shouldn’t have too much trouble scoring a pair at your local consignment shop or at Kixify, but that’s if you don’t care about the box. But I do, and that’s my sickness as you’ve no doubt since in our various KoF Live videos where I freak over the packaging more than the actual shoe.

Just because, here’s the White Rabbit candy (and other snacks) in action. And we wonder why the rest of the world hates us (non-Trump division). That thumbnail though…
