The upcoming Nike Cortez Kenny More Collection pays tribute to distance runner Kenny Moore, who was coached by Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman at Oregon.
Kenny Moore received a stress fracture in his foot when running in the 880-meter race while wearing the Tiger TG-22, a shoe that was specifically designed for the high-jump and was mistaken for a running shoe. During his recovery time, Bowerman took the shoes he wore and gave them a bit of an upgrade cobbling up a better distance runner. The shoe was called the Tiger Cortez, and later became the Nike Cortez when Bowerman and Phil Knight started Nike.
Looking to honor this moment in history, Nike will release this three-pack of the Cortez that has each release come constructed in a combination of leather, nylon and suede dressed done in in Tour Yellow, Varsity Blue, and Off-White. If you take a closer look at the Off-White pair, you will see that it comes with handwritten ?MOORE? text on the sides to mimic the original prototype he wore. As of right now the Nike Cortez Kenny More Collection has no release date but reports suggest we should see them at Nike.com in the very near future.
No release details have been announced, but you can expect to see this Nike Cortez Kenny More Collection become available very soon at select retailers and Nike.com.
