UPDATE (3/17): Nike has confirmed that the Nike Air Max 1 ?86 ?Big Bubble? will be releasing via SNKRS and select retailers on Air Max Day, March 26th, for $150.

Let’s be clear, sneaker culture and history begins here: the Air Max 1 “Big Bubble.”

The holy grail of sneaker lore returns along with the true story of visible Nike Air. Using CT scans (yes, really) to dissect 1 of maybe only 400,000 released pairs of the “Big Bubble,” we replicated the Nike Air unit and window used in the ’86 original, so you can step on the bedrock of sneaker history. And don’t worry, you still get the throwback color blocking.

Hiding in the shadows of one of Nike?s biggest stories (that of revealing Nike Air to the world) is the fact that for the first few months of its release, the Air Max 1 featured a noticeably bigger window. So, like why did the window shrink? With a launch date in place and manufacturing already started, Nike engineers (to their dismay) discovered that an exposed Air unit had a tendency to crack in cold temperatures. Adjusting on the fly, engineers quietly “shrunk the window both in length and height” and began using a new Air unit to prevent the great cracking catastrophe.

Released on March 26th, 1987, the ultra-rare Air Max ?Big Bubble” hit the shelves and thankfully didn’t bust (most likely because of the rising spring temps). After the initial run, the Air Max 1 as we know it secretly replaced the original, taking hold as the leader of the Air Max pack. And the “Big Bubble?” It faded away?until now. Welcome to the beginning.

UPDATE (3/3): Nike shares official images of the Nike Air Max 1 OG Big Bubble University Red. No official release date has been announced, but a proposed release date is expected to happen later on this month.

Slated to drop in the coming months, here is an official look at the Nike Cortez in the brand new Aloe Vera colorway.

This new makeup of the Nike Cortez comes dressed in a Sail, Aloe Vera, Black, and Pale Vanilla color scheme. Opting for a tonal-colored base, the sneaker is constructed out of a Sail leather upper paired with matching suede overlays on the heels, toe boxes and eyestays. Breaking up the tonal motif are the Green (Aloe Vera) hits on the side panel Swooshes and heel tab. Other details include the debossed branded heels atop a Gum rubber outsole.

The third and final colorway of the CLOT x Nike Cortez Clotez collection has surfaced. The first two unveiled colorways came in your choice of Black and White and a Bruce Lee-inspired Black and Yellow offering. This time around the CLOT x Nike Cortez surfaces in the OG White, Red and Blue colorway, also known as the Forrest Gump colorway. 

Previewed below, the CLOT x Nike Cortez Clotez Forrest Gump is given the 3-in-1 design that was also used on the first two colorways of the collection. This means the sneaker can be worn as as or it can be taken apart to become a sneaker or you could rock the detachable overlays as a slip-on reminiscent of a Kung Fu shoe. The lace-up room shoe comes embroidered with Chinese characters ??? and ??? (Kung Fuat the heel, while the slip-on features a Kung Fu shoe-inspired silhouette with drawstring fastening to secure. Done in the Forrest Gump color scheme and color blocking, this pair features a White leather upper and Red Swooshes, while the slip-on is given Blue Swooshes with serrated bottoms for maximum grip. Also worth mentioning, each ?Clotez? comes with detachable insoles for extra comfort.

Retailing for $140, the CLOT x Nike Cortez Clotez Forrest Gump is slated to release sometime during the upcoming spring season via Juice stores worldwide and Nike.com (SNKRS). This Nike Dunk Low starts off with a grey tumbled leather construction on the base of the upper which is then joined by smooth black leather overlays and tumbled leather Swooshes. Orange mini embroidered Swooshes then hit the lateral toes with matching branding on the tongue tags and black Nike branding on the heels. The Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 “Pine Green” consists as another standout offering as part of Jordan Brand’s Spring 2023 lineup which is suggested to debut in March, according to sources.
