With the Air Jordan 14 Last Shot set to return on June 14th to celebrate its 20th anniversary, Jordan Brand has decided to take us into their vault and give us a little background behind the iconic sneaker.
Over the course of 14 years, Michael Jordan created a legacy with Chicago that was laced with unimaginable highlights and gravity-defying shots. On what would become the final shot of his storied career with Chicago, His Airness left us with a parting gift of everlasting basketball greatness. Playing for his sixth title, MJ?s squad was down one point with under ten seconds to go. With the game and season on the line Michael and the menacingly sleek Black/Varsity Red Air Jordan 14 created space, elevated and drilled the go-ahead basket.

That iconic moment cemented the Air Jordan 14’s status as an all-time classic. Twenty years after MJ?s championship-sealing bucket was scored, the Air Jordan 14 Last Shot is making a triumphant return to its original form. Sporting an aggressive black leather stitched upper, the Air Jordan 14 was inspired by MJ?s love of high speed cars. The influence can be seen on the Jumpman shield that graces the outer panels. Red contrasting side vents served as nods to the Italian carmakers? fluid mixture of luxury and high performance, two characteristics that became synonymous with the Jordan Brand and MJ?s level of play.

In 2005 the Air Jordan 14 saw its first Retro since the original 1998 release with a nubuck toecap replacing the suede of the original. The 14 returned again in 2011 with a suede toecap once again to ignite memories of MJ?s iconic ?Last Shot? moment in the original Air Jordan 14.

Now two decades later, the ?Last Shot? Air Jordan 14 is forever cemented in footwear history. Not only for its iconic design, but most importantly for the role it played in MJ?s grand exit as a Chicago legend.
